COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former South Carolina state treasurer Thomas Ravenel has presented signatures to get on the ballot as an independent running for Lindsey Graham´s U.S. Senate seat. Ravenel said he gave 17,000 signatures when he arrived Monday at the state Election Commission in Columbia. Election officials will have to verify the signatures. That process is expected to take about a month. Ravenel became state treasurer as a Republican in 2007. He had to resign months after his election when he was charged with buying cocaine for himself and his friends. Ravenel says he is running to reduce the size of government,

Let me see if I process this accurately. The poster wants Michelle Nunn in the Georgia senate seat and a convicted felon in the SC seat? What´s wrong with this reasoning?

So Lindsey is pure as the driven snow? (yeah, pun intended) Ravenel has a lot of work to do between now and November, but he has a decent chance to unseat this twinky.

Is this another case of someone, who has no chance of winning, splitting the vote so that the Democrat can win? Seems to be a pattern of this happening in state after state.

A web video surfaced Friday of civil rights activist Jesse Jackson being confronted by Ferguson, MO, protesters unhappy with Jackson’s presence in the city. The video was posted by the conservative website Western Journalism. “Are you marching today with us, or are you just going to sit in the car?” one of the men confronting Jackson says in the video. Jackson seems to remain silent in the video, which is recorded in a McDonald’s parking lot. “When you going to stop selling us out, Jesse?” one of the protesters says. “We don’t want you here in St. Louis! WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has quietly abandoned its aggressive months-long search for emergency shelters across the nation as the number of children illegally crossing the southern border alone continues to drop. At the same time, three facilities at military bases in Texas, California and Oklahoma set up as shelters are no longer housing children from Central America. An official with the Department of Health and Human Services, which led the search for shelters, said there’s been a decrease in the number of children apprehended at the border and an increase in the number of children sent to live with families or

A Super PAC helping U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell has jumped into the fray over Alison Lundergan Grimes tour bus, sending a letter to Signature Special Events Services asking to rent the vehicle for what it suggests is a bargain basement price being offered to the campaign. The company is owned by Jerry Lundergan, Grimes´ father, and the relationship has come under fire in recent days with the McConnell campaign suggesting that Grimes has violated federal election law by accepting the bus from her father´s corporation at what it says is a discounted rate. The Grimes campaign has said that got

GENEVA - At least 191,369 people have been killed in Syria´s conflict through April, more than double the figure documented a year ago and probably still an under-estimate, the United Nations human rights office said on Friday. The U.N. report, based on data from four groups and the government that were cross-checked, reflects a reality of killing and torture while the civil war has "dropped off the international radar", U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said. "With additional killings reported from earlier periods, in addition to the new killings that have taken place, the total is more than double the

Mark David Chapman, serving a 20 year-to-life sentence at upstate Wende Correctional Facility for the Dec. 8, 1980, shooting of the Beatle, is awaiting his fate after being interviewed by state parole officials this week. A decision could be announced as early as Friday. It’s not expected he’ll be released. Supporters of a Cincinnati area clinic that is ending its surgical abortion services Friday say it is the latest victim of a political attack — and that Ohio is at risk of losing even more of its abortion clinics. A state law enacted in 2013 “seems like a deliberate Catch-22,” said lawyer Dorothea Langsham, who represents the Women´s Med Center of Cincinnati. Its Lebanon Road Surgery Center in Sharonville, Ohio, is expected to cease offering surgical abortions as of 4 p.m. Friday. Thursday’s “National Day Of Rage” planned by the hacktivist group Anonymous against the Aug. 9 police shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. failed to materialize in any remotely significant way. Anonymous had called for a protest in 37 cities. A Facebook posting dated Thursday shows that organizers had also envisioned nationwide protests in the early evening in dozens of additional cities — everywhere from Helena, Mont. (pop. 29,134) to Perryville, Mo. (pop. 8,225) The protests were a huge dud. A smattering of dedicated protesters showed up in front of the White House, demanding the arrest of Darren Wilson, the police officer

Why I Sued the President

President Obama has dared those who criticize his repeated failure to faithfully execute the laws to “sue me,” believing that no one can show the injury needed to do so. But when one of the administration’s many lawless actions shifted certain responsibilities to the states, we gained the standing to sue that so many others have lacked. So on July 29, I accepted the president’s invitation and filed a lawsuit on behalf of the state of West Virginia to hold the Obama administration accountable for its illegal conduct. WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin has lost the magic. The defeat of her choice Tuesday in a Republican Senate primary in her home state of Alaska capped a primary season in which her favored candidates have stumbled across the nation. A referendum to restore Palin’s signature achievement from her time as Alaska governor, a state tax on oil companies, was also headed toward defeat following Tuesday’s voting, dealing a double whammy loss to Palin in her home state and highlighting her declining influence. Only four of the 15 congressional candidates endorsed by Palin nationwide this year have won their primaries, a far worse

They have murdered Muslims — both Sunni and Shia — by the thousands. They target Christians and religious minorities, driving them from their

Holder, during remarks in Washington, confirmed the "open criminal investigation" into Foley´s beheading, which was recorded and posted online this week.
