Behind the scenes at the
Clinton White House

New York Post, by Geoff Earle

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that

The Clintons never met a political stunt they didn´t like. How about them walking on the beach holding hands or the rocks that appeared out of no where ,so Bubba could make a cross out of them. Consulting Jesse Jackson after the Mona scandal worked great also.

REALLY dislike Hillary, but can see why she has Richardson on the s--- list! What is most worrisome, however, is that Elizabeth Warren is chugging up behind, to take Hillary´s place if she fails, and once again the Press is not being honest. Watched Morning Joe today and Warren was represented as NOT far left (which she is to the point of falling off the world) but also a paragon (who listed herself as a minority to get Ivy League hires, represented the tobacco companies and other giants she now decries, and practiced law (and collected fees) in Mass. without a license. Plagiarists’ real crime? Ripping off readers.

The plagiarists are back in the news, taking public beatings for allegedly having filed refried copy at BuzzFeed, the New York Times, and the United States Army War College, where Senator John Walsh, (D-Mont.), has just been busted for lifting portions of his 2007 master’s degree paper. Of course, plagiarists — like shoplifters — are always with us, pinching small and large chunks of stuff that doesn’t belong to them. So I don’t think this week’s news necessarily means that a new plague of plagiarism has descended upon us, only that the law of averages decided to harvest three perpetrators at

One of the most underappreciated attributes in politics is a candidate´s authenticity. In an era when politicians´ talking points are scripted, and they worry about a gaffe going viral, the candidate who comes across as genuine holds a real advantage. It´s one reason why Barack Obama was able to defeat Hillary Clinton, why Mitt Romney struggled to capitalize on a favorable environment in 2012, and why someone like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is able to use his force of personality to overcome ideological differences with both Democrats and conservatives. And the authenticity factor has played a critical role in this

Nero fiddled while Rome burned. On Saturday, President Obama played golf while his foreign policy, and that of the nation he leads, was going up in smoke. Literally. Saturday was the day the State Department ordered the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Libya. Only three years ago, Obama helped NATO allies overthrow Moammar Kadafi as part of his “lead from behind” doctrine, but he has done little to help the resulting democratic government secure its authority. Not only did the U.S. not support sending international peacekeepers, it didn´t mount a serious program to train a new Libyan army. The

One of the ongoing debates about policy formation in Washington which has become far more prominent since the passage of Obamacare is the role of the Congressional Budget Office, and the weight given its estimates and predictions for the ramifications of legislation. CBO has always been at the center of a debate about how much we should trust these estimates and how much legislators should rely on them in crafting policy. The larger the legislation, the more moving parts it has, the more difficult it is to calculate the fiscal and economy-wide impacts. In the case of Obamacare, the sheer largeness

It seems like a rather big deal that Egypt, Israel, Fatah, Jordan, Saudi Arabia—ostensibly, all allies of ours—agree on anything. You can understand President Obama´s current political problems -- and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall´s midterm election -- in a single word. And that word is "competence". Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to "Heck of a job, Brownie" and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration.
