‘Unprecedented’ immigrant issue
a drain for state

Boston Herald, by Bob McGovern

The unprecedented shipment of illegal immigrants from Texas to Massachusetts is not only straining the resources of local jails, it is costing taxpayers millions of dollars for health care, the Bristol County sheriff said yesterday. At least one illegal immigrant — brought to Massachusetts from Texas by Immigration and Customs Enforcement — is in a hospital with 24-hour surveillance, according to Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson, who is responsible for holding about 80 adults who are awaiting deportation. “We have two officers, around the clock, at the hospital taking care of this person, and that’s one bill. 1) Liberalism is college professors and documentary filmmakers accumulating vast fortunes in a capitalistic system by decrying the evils of capitalism. 2) Liberalism is claiming that the "border is secure" while saying we shouldn´t deport anyone who illegally crosses the border. 3) Liberalism is "environmental activists" flying across the world to ride together in SUVs to posh environmental conferences where they call for everyone else to live like cavemen in order to save the planet. 4) Liberalism is spewing hatred and profanity at conservative women, calling for gun control that leaves women defenseless against rapists and murderers, and celebrating misogynistic

Thinking about getting engaged, guys? Best hold off on shopping for some big, gaudy rock to give your special lady. It’s not because the diamond industry is an incredibly rigged racket which keeps prices inflated many orders of magnitude above their actual worth. (Which is true.) And it’s not because you’re supporting bloody oppression of miners. (Probably some truth there as well.) No, it’s because giving a woman a diamond ring is just a reminder that she’s little more than chattel to be traded among powerful men. Seriously… I read it in Salon so it must be true. MOSCOW — Russia announced Saturday that it is barring 13 Americans from entering the country, including Rep. James P. The Foreign Ministry also repeated its pledge to counter the most recent round of U.S. economic sanctions with “response measures” of its own. The Obama administration on Wednesday announced tough new measures targeting major Russian banks and energy companies, a significant swath of the Russian defense industry and individuals it said were responsible for the continuing support of separatists battling government forces in eastern

An AFP correspondent in Mosul, the main Iraqi hub of the Islamic State (IS) group´s proclaimed "caliphate", said Christians squeezed into private cars and taxis to beat the noon deadline. "Some families have had all their money and jewellery taken from them at an insurgent checkpoint as they fled the city," said Abu Rayan, a Mosul Christian who had just driven out with his family. President Obama called on Congress Saturday to approve measures that he said would help the middle class, from a job-training initiative to comprehensive immigration reform. “We have to make sure our economy works for every working American,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. “My opportunity agenda does that.” But Rep. Steve Scalise, Louisiana Republican and incoming House majority whip, told Mr. Obama to “put down your pen and phone” used for executive actions and to urge Senate Democrats to stop blocking the GOP’s measures to help the economy. He said Mr. Obama and congressional Democrats should support efforts such

Last night saw the premier in Denver of Joel Gilbert’s There’s No Place Like Utopia, a film that gets to the heart of the progressive/communist project for America and where it is leading us. Joel uses the Wizard of Oz as an extended metaphor for the trickery and fraud that underlies the quest to perfect human nature and bring about heaven on earth that Marx promised. The film is disarming in many ways, for it tackles great intellectual themes, usually the province of dense prose, and uses images and personality to tell the story in a highly accessible way. It is at times like these, when he is pushed kicking and screaming into the crucible, that Obama’s callowness shows. For his supporters, that jejune, jocular air has been a plus for almost six years. For the rest of us, it has served as a liability and an irritation. Yesterday, it became a wholesale embarrassment. On the perpetual-campaign trail, the pattern is familiar. Trotting up to the podium, the president fist-bumps the audience’s stragglers and smiles a toothy and humble grin at those who catch his eye.
