Federal judge takes stance

Washington Post, by Theresa Vargas

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office isn’t the only federal authority that has taken a stance against the name of the Washington Redskins. A federal judge in Maryland issued a ruling last week that purposely did not contain the team’s name, which has been described as an offensive slur against Native Americans. U.S. District Judge Peter J. Messitte, who is presiding over the “bounty” case former New York Giants linebacker Barrett Green launched against the Redskins, issued a 21-page ruling with this footnote on the first page: “Pro Football’s team is popularly known as the Washington ‘Redskins,’ but the Court

Comments:
We are witnessing the complete and utter destruction of this country. When you have a sitting federal judge behave in such a ridiculous, inappropriate manner things are really falling apart. He should be impeached! He does not deserve to sit on the bench! He is a Clinton appointee.

Unless you have a complete vote by Indians on this name, you don´t have a case, you have an assumption. Make any ruling you want, but if the Redskin football team ot the NFL wants to draw crowds next year, leave it alone.

By the way, can we call the Minnesota NFL team the Gays next year?

Forgotten history makes the word Redkins a pejorative but the origin of the word is maybe that Powhatan and daughter Pocahontas and colored their skins red for big greeting ceremony at James town. Term Redsticks used in some novel had to do with sticks painted red.

Megyn Kelly was incredibly bewildered Thursday night at President Obama‘s comment about having no concrete Syria strategy yet. Ed Henry was very blunt in telling Kelly that this is an unqualified “disaster” for the White House. Henry admitted he was “stunned” that none of his colleagues in the briefing room followed up on that remark of the president’s, especially considering how quickly after the presser the White House jumped right into “damage control mode.” And whereas last night Henry blew Kelly’s mind by telling her Obama would be attending one fundraiser on Friday, he told her tonight that actually, it’s going to

Mark Levin was on “Hannity” tonight, where he slammed President Barack Obama for ignoring ISIS. Sean Hannity remarked that it seems like ISIS has declared war on the United States. “These cockroaches organized, funded themselves, built a forceful military, started conquering geographic areas all around the world, under [Obama’s] nose. He ignored it. He did nothing about it. He didn’t talk to the American people about it—as a matter of fact, he downplayed it. This is one of the worst military, national security screw ups in modern American history,” Levin said. Levin called Obama “a peculiar, petulant man” with a thin resume

After wrapping up questions at his press conference today, President Obama returned to the podium to answer a question from a reporter about his strategy on acting on immigration. Obama explained that although “hope springs eternal” that Congress would address immigration reform, he felt that he had to act to make the system better. “We’ve had a lot of stakeholder discussions, that set of proposals is being worked up,” he said, referring to several meetings at the White House with immigration activists and business leaders. Both have struggled with sagging approval ratings and run-ins with conservatives. “It’s a wonderful night,” Crist declared after accepting a concession call from Rich.
