President Obama is known for being competitive on the basketball court, but he´s also apparently a cutthroat pool player. Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., told reporters at the National Governors Association meeting on Sunday that the president surprised him by beat him in two consecutive games. To add insult to injury, the two were playing at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, a bar that Hickenlooper co-founded. "You know I´ll tell ya -- the man is a shark," Hickenlooper told reporters, Time reports. "I was up a few balls. I felt pretty good. I was actually wondering whether how hard should I --

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday that she knows how difficult it is "to be the leader of a relatively small country." Come again? I know I’m relatively young, but I think I would have remembered President or Prime Minister or Queen Hillary. Clinton made the comments on CNN´s "Fareed Zakaria GPS" while discussing the conflict between Israel and Hamas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu. “I’ve known Bibi a long time and I have a very good relationship with him, in part because we can yell at each other – and we do,” Clinton said. “And

House and Senate negotiators have unveiled a $17 billion plan to overhaul the way the nation’s veterans obtain medical care, including a $10 billion provision to privatize services to help shorten long wait times. “This bill makes certain we address the immediate crisis of veterans being forced onto long wait lines for health care,” said Senate Veterans´ Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. The proposal, co-authored by House Veterans´ Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller, R-Fla., includes a major reform provision aimed at allowing the Department of Veterans Affairs secretary to immediately fire senior employees who currently enjoy an appeals period that

President Barack Obama is practically weepy at the thought of his daughter Malia going off to college, a milestone many months away that is already on his mind. Malia barely reached up to her father´s shoulders when they moved to the White House nearly six years ago with her mother, little sister and grandmother. At 16, she stands nearly as tall as her 6-foot-1 dad and is visiting college campuses in preparation for that bittersweet day in the fall of 2016 when she trades her White House bedroom for a dorm. President Obama and congressional Republicans are in the political equivalent of a bad marriage. They bicker about everything, accuse each other of acting in bad faith and don´t much like each other. Now, like a lot of dysfunctional relationships, this one is heading to court. This week, before the House leaves for its August recess, the GOP majority is expected to approve a lawsuit against Obama. Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, says it will accuse the president of unconstitutionally abusing his executive power by delaying the Obamacare requirement that larger companies provide health insurance or pay a fine — the so-called

President Obama has overstepped his constitutional authority — and it is the responsibility of the House of Representatives to defend the Constitution. At the same time, we remain focused on the American people´s top priority: jobs and the economy. I believe the president´s actions in a number of areas — including job-destroying energy regulations, releasing the "Taliban 5" from Guantanamo without notice and waiving the work requirements in welfare — exceed his constitutional authority. On the advice of legal experts, the House action will focus on his decision to extend — twice — the deadline to institute the employer mandate

It should have been very predictable that when Hillary Clinton was pressured into saying that illegal immigrant children of the recent border surge should be sent back to their countries that she would probably change her position under political pressure. It didn’t take very long. In an interview with Univision anchor Jorge Anchor, he pressured her about her earlier statement supporting deportation of those newly arrived illegal alien children. It seemed inconceivable that the American secretary of state would have drafted an initiative that, as a priority, did not require the dismantling of Hamas’s rocket arsenal and network of tunnels dug under the Israeli border. Yet the reported text did not address these issues at all, nor call for the demilitarization of Gaza. In coming to Obama’s aid in erasing forever America’s borders, the bishops sold the USA out, including its Catholics, for the proverbial 30 pieces of silver. World leaders are increasingly pointing to U.S. President Obama’s failures in the Middle East. Some are direct and blunt. For example, during his recent visit to Brazil, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked by journalists about U.S. sanctions against Russia due to the Ukrainian crisis. While naturally condemning such moves, part of his response was to accuse the Obama administration of “encouraging war between neighboring states.” In the same context, Putin added: American objectives have not been realized, nor have they accomplished anything, because everything has collapsed.
