White House asks
Darrell Issa to drop subpoena

Politico, by Lauren French

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/14/2014 3:29:44 PM

The White House is asking Rep. Darrell Issa to withdraw a subpoena of a senior adviser to President Barack Obama and is offering instead to a hold a private briefing on activities in the administration’s political affairs office. In a letter sent Monday, White House Counsel W. Neil Eggleston offered to brief Issa, a California Republican who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, on the role of the the Office of Political Strategy and Outreach on Tuesday. That’s one day before the office’s director, David Simas, is under subpoena to testify on potential violations of the Hatch Act.

This administration should always be required to testify under oath in public. Please enforce the subpoena.

“While I am hopeful that we can work together constructively to address your stated interests, your subpoena is not helpful to these efforts. As you know, it has been the view of administrations from both political parties that summoning the President’s most senior advisors to provide public testimony raises significant separation of power concerns,” Eggleston wrote.

Since when are these guys worried about separation of powers?

But Issa’s office said there is little chance that the subpoena will be withdrawn.

Let´s hope Issa stays firm on this. I bet strongarm tactics are at the ready for this "private meeting".

Issa will probably go to the private briefing and be served coffee and baked cookies made by Obama´s Crack Cocaine Baker. Issa will awake after several hours and White House Counsel W. The nightmare of ISIS persecution continues for hundreds of Yazidi girls and women who were abducted by the Sunni Muslim extremist group and are being sold to its fighters in Syria, according to a human rights group. In the past few weeks, ISIS has distributed or sold about 300 female members of the persecuted religious minority who were abducted in Iraq, (Snip) In ISIS´ eyes, the girls and women are "slaves of the spoils of war with the infidels," the Syria monitors said, adding that the terrorists sold them for about $1,000 each, claiming they had converted to Islam so that they can marry ISIS fighters.

Kraft Foods Group has announced a recall of 7,691 cases of its popular single-slice American cheese. The food giant says it is ordering the recall of select varieties of regular Kraft American Singles Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product after discovering a supplier apparently did not store an ingredient at the correct temperature. As a result, it says, some of the cheese could have spoiled and cause illness. The recall applies to Kraft American Singles in the 12-, 16- or 24-ounce size if it has a "best when used by" date of Feb. 20, 2015. In the case of the 12-ounce size, the date could also be Feb. 21. Sacramento, CA - The California state legislature enacted a ban on plastic grocery bags on Friday near the end of its two-year session, a measure that if signed into law would become the first of its kind in America. A number of cities and counties in California and other U.S. states, including Hawaii's Maui County, have made it illegal for grocery stores to pack purchases in plastic. But at the state level, opposition from plastic bag makers has usually prevailed. The California Senate voted 22-15 for the bill, which must be signed into law by Sept. 30 by Democratic Governor Jerry Brown, who has not signaled a position on the
