New alert system gives president
special code for emergency messages

The Hill (Washington, DC), by Tim Devaney

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 7/14/2014 2:11:40 PM

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is looking to overhaul the Emergency Alert System so the president can speak to the country at the flip of a switch in the event of a nationwide emergency. The national Emergency Alert System broadcasts television alert messages to warn people about immediate dangers. The system is often used at the local level to warn people about weather conditions such as tornadoes or flash floods. But the Emergency Alert System is not capable of reaching the entire country all at once should the president need to warn the public of something like a terrorist attack

What defines an emergency to Obama is not necessarily what defines an emergency to the rest of us. E.g., running out of pie.

Conversely, what does not constitute an emergency to Obama might constitute an emergency to us. E.g., running over with illegals.

I can just about handle a weather alert in the middle of the night but I honestly do not think I can cope with Our Master´s Voice at 3 a.m. Perhaps the older model emergency radios will be unable to accept the signal.

I´d spell it Big Brutha´, #4. Sure, that´s racist: but I don´t care anymore.

Sign of these terrible times that even something ostensibly to enhance national security must be viewed with a cynical eye.

But it must. Everything these days is suspect when we have a CIC hellbent on "fundamentally transforming" the nation.

Check your smartphones folks. Unless you jailbreak them, it is mandatory software that you cannot remove from your phone. It includes weather alerts, Amber alerts, and the one that YOU CANNOT TURN OFF, the Presidential alert.

If its a true national emergency, it is unlikely we will hear about it from the president first. More likely it will be national media, and the president will come on with his pointless drivel sometime later. By that time I will be taking whatever actions I deem necessary, and I hope that he would also.
I really dont much care what any president has to say at that point. Give me useful information, not politicially motivated feel good garbage.

Why the heck do we need to hear it from his fly-infested gob? The only purpose for a direct line of communication from El Presidente (notice that it´s only one way) is for him to become the angelic voice of a savior during times of National crisis.

Bottom line, if something bad is going on, he´s the last pile of manure I´m looking for in search of reassurance or guidance. A pox on him.

The Ebola virus ravaging West Africa remains unlikely to appear in Minnesota, home to more than 30,000 people of Liberian descent. Local health officials Sunday repeated earlier assurances that Twin Cities residents are not at risk of contracting the disease from recent immigrants or imported foods and merchandise. They, and a coalition of religious leaders who organized the information session at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, urged that more information and education is needed to combat the stigmatization that has accompanied news of the disease’s rampage through Africa. “There are lots of students going back to school,” said Ellen Frerich,

INDIANOLA, Iowa — It was a preview of coming distractions. When Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton decided to return to the state where her presidential ambitions first came undone six years ago, the idea was that they would remind Democratic activists about the importance of the midterm elections and honor their host, Senator Tom Harkin, Democrat of Iowa, who is retiring from Congress and held his final steak fry fund-raiser here Sunday. Some precincts in northern Arizona tallied more ballots cast than there are registered voters, the Arizona Capitol Times reported. In Apache County, the Puerco West precinct reportedly had 100 votes cast, but only 23 voters are registered there. The voter turnout added up to 434

Is a mutiny happening around President Obama? It appears possible that the president may not have made two of his most recent decisions with complete free will. The announcement that he would delay his immigration initiative until after the election and his formal announcement that the United States would take military action against the Islamic State could have been coerced. Maybe Democratic leaders in Congress and a few members of the Obama team have had it. Could it be that, after President Obama briefed Democrats in Congress on the immigration plan, they balked?
