The Reagan Roots of Reform Conservatism
National Review Online, by Quin Hillyer

There’s a movement sweeping the land, and if you want to call it “reform conservatism,” I agree that it’s good marketing. It promises a freshness and idealism that are appealing. What is reform conservatism? Let’s quote from one of its key documents (emphases added): Republicans . . . have always taken the side of the individual, whose freedoms are threatened by the big government that Democratic [ideas have] spawned. Our case for the individual is stronger than ever. A defense of the individual against government was never more needed. And we will continue to mount it. But we will redefine and broaden

Our "rights", freedom and liberty come from God our creator, not man or government. Americans have forgotten about God and where our rights come from but they sure want to keep them.
You can´t have it both ways... have a total secular government without God, living destructive dependent lifestyles and still have "rights" freedom and liberty.
Benjamin Franklin said, "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin knew something very few Americans know today. And so goes our rights to tyrants like Obama and the Democrat Party (and about half the Republican Party).

Everything pre1980 and post 1988 has been a repudiation of Reagan policies. Mouthing the words conservative doesn´t make a Rockefeller/Bush elitist any more limited government, free market or spiritually grounded.

Reagan, like the t party, rejected the elitism that came before. He knew his base was not the beltway and east coast secular republican liberal establishment. He knew, as most have forgotten, that the greatness of America doesn´t flow from political power.

Eventually the TRUTH comes out. It always does. The only question becomes “is anyone paying attention to it” ? Readers will note that since the word of the border crisis hit the media our research has indicated the entire construct of a humanitarian crisis for children is a ruse. There simply are not mass influxes of Unaccompanied Alien Children. For almost two months we have been repeating that it’s all a fraud – the influx is families, or more specifically women with children. There is no border crisis about unaccompanied alien children – period. Sure there are “some” unaccompanied minors, but no-where

U.S. spy agencies have begun to see groups of fighters abandoning al-Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and Africa to join the rival Islamist organization that has seized territory in Iraq and Syria and been targeted in American airstrikes, U.S. officials said. The movements are seen by U.S. counterterrorism analysts as a worrisome indication of the expanding appeal of a group known as the Islamic State that has overwhelmed military forces in the region and may now see itself in direct conflict with the United States. “Small groups from a number of al-Qaeda affiliates have defected to ISIS,” as the group is also known,

CAIRO - Eleven "extremists" were killed on Friday in a wide-scale security crackdown on Sinai, state-run MENA agency reported. Three tunnels were also demolished and one SUV vehicle was confiscated in the security campaign to "clear" areas of Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid of terrorists, the source added. Army and police forces have been cracking down on extremists and militants that have been targeting security elements and installations in Sinai since the ouster of former President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013.

President Obama gave Thomas Friedman an hour long interview before heading off on vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. Within the interview the failure of a cohesive Obama foreign policy shines through despite the attempted cover from liberal reporters. There’s actually two parts to this interview – the interview as reported - and the opinion piece from Friedman about the interview itself. Within the Times Article you find the footprints of a dejected President staring boldly into the face of his own failure and shortcomings: [...] “We’re not going to let them create some caliphate through Syria and Iraq,” the president said

A key ObamaCare official involved in the rocky rollout of Healthcare.gov likely deleted some of her emails that are now being sought as part of an investigation into the problems by a House committee, Fox News confirmed Thursday. The Department of Health and Human Services informed House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa in a letter Thursday that some of the emails belonging to Marilyn Tavenner, who leads the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, may not be “retrievable.” The missing emails belonging to Tavenner, whose agency runs the ObamaCare exchanges, were first reported by msnbc.com.

President Obama touted the newly passed Veterans Affairs reform bill Thursday as he signed the measure into law and lamented the scandal that triggered it. But a review of records by Fox News shows the president – despite the urgency he placed publicly on the crisis – only met one-on-one with then-VA Secretary Eric Shinseki once during the scandal. The records, provided through a Freedom of Information Act request, showed they met on May 30, the day Shinseki resigned. VA records show Shinseki also attended Cabinet meetings on Jan. 14 and Jan. 22. The revelation comes as lawmakers, on the heels of passing the

Lately on Facebook, several versions of what it means to be a little boy’s mama have been circulating. They are touching, and bring a smile to your face, a touch of nostalgia, and perhaps even a tear to your eye. You are exhorted to have lots of energy, be ready to put up with bloody noses and reptiles in the house, see movies you don’t like, and various other true things. (Snip)However, we also need some harder truths, and now is a good time to take a look at that. So, here’s my version, for what it’s worth.

The decision by Sen. John Walsh (D-Mont.) not to seek election in November in the wake of a plagiarism scandal is the latest piece of good news for Republicans as they strive to take control of the Senate in less than three months. Walsh’s departure from the race came in the same week that two Republican senators — Pat Roberts in Kansas and Lamar Alexander in Tennessee — defeated tea party challengers in primary fights, ensuring that every GOP senator seeking reelection would be the party’s nominee. Barack Obama deliberately set out to lose the war in Iraq, and he did. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. In doing so, he betrayed every American and Iraqi who gave his life to create a free Iraq and keep it out of the clutches of the terrorists. Iraq is now a war zone dominated by the terrorist forces of the Islamic State, whose rise Obama’s policies fostered. Both his secretaries

As soon as he won his Senate primary election against conservative Joe Carr, Alexander said it was "embarrassing" that Republicans have not yet passed a bill. Never mind that Alexander spent nearly his entire primary campaign trying to convince voters that he was against "amnesty" and would never dare to embrace it before the primary election. “I don’t know how it will affect our politics in the near term," Alexander told Politico of a comprehensive immigration bill. “I think it’s embarrassing for us not to deal with the problem, and
