Read of the day: Israel
as the Last Man Standing

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

Original Article

Posted By:Judy W., 7/14/2014 9:51:40 AM

The Middle East, always complex, is descending into a form of chaos that seems baffling. Bringing order to the complexity is Daniel P. Goldman, aka Spengler, writing in Tablet Magazine. A former Wall Street numbers guy, Goldman brings together a lot of demographic data expressed in useful charts, to lay out his case that time is on Israel’s side, and that the Muslims of the Middle East are engaged in a long-term battle, which he likens to the 30 Years War that devastated Europe in the 17th century: The region has seen nothing like it since the Mongol invasion of

Comments:
This is an amazing article that Lifson refers to. I would have posted the original but I don´t think the Tablet is a permitted website and I´m on vacation and can´t wait for permission. Do read the whole thing -- it´s the most amazing and historically comprehensive view you will ever read of what´s going on in the middle east.

I´m afraid the conclusions in both the piece by Lifson and in the Tablet article linked to it may be a bit of wishful thinking. A nuclear Iran will change everything.

What struck me in the linked article was the U.N. World Population Prospects graph of the "Percent of Population Over Age 65". It shows Europe leading the way to demographic decline, with lines for the Middle Eastern nations converging with Europe´s around 2060. (I would not be surprised if the trend for the US is similar in nature.) The Tablet article cites the correlation between female literacy in Iran and the trend there - the premise being that better educated women tend to have fewer children in their lifetime.

All societies - especially ours - should think long and hard about that trend, and consider appropriate adjustments to address it. That does not mean removing the shoes from women´s feet and relegating them back to the kitchen. But it does mean providing better incentives for educated women to increase the size of their families.

My belief as to the origin of species leans towards "intelligent design" rather than randomized evolution. However, all approaches to that subject converge on the fact that a failure to reproduce will result in a "fundamental change" in the nature of a given species - in this case, the human species. Specifically, if educated cultures fail to reproduce while less educated cultures continue to explode in population, then civilization overall will decline and humanity weakened. Immigration (especially illegal) only exacerbates the situation.

I apologize for focusing on a sidebar to the main issue, but it is germane, and worthy of discussion in its own right.

I can assure you Israel will be the last man standing. I don´t know if it will go the way it is described in the article, how or when, but they are God´s chosen people and they WILL always be!

I am a bit more pessimistic than the Author at large. I am looking at the weakness of the west in the face of the growing in cancer rates of militant islam that is now 35% of the French population, 18% of the British and becoming a significant voting block in the American states. The Asian rim is becoming infected at an alarming rate. The seed bed of the middle east has riches they never dreamed of.

The fighting is not at all like it was in the 30 Years War era. It is fighting for murder sake, not to achieve any stated aim. The fractional murderous populations that Islam generates can never find reconciliation. Islam is simply not made that way. It must be in a violent stasis or die. People can not live under any form of secular freedom and remain Islamic. The lure of life is too great. So, it is a given that Islam must be in a constant warlike state as Catholicism must remain in a Papal state. Without such endemic motivation, Islam will die. The power the Mullahs have over the people is just too great to let go of...so it will be...a pure hell on earth for generations. The only solution to the problem is simply too terrible to contemplate. So, we will become Islamic and stay in a constant state of murder.

Israel eventually will be backed up against the proverbial wall with no where to look for help but up. Their prayers will be answered. God will rescue them and begin to settle some scores. At least that´s what the book of The Revelation predicts. Many of you, I know, don´t give any credence to the Bible and that is fine. Whether you believe or not will not prevent God from doing exactly what He has promised. God promised the land to the Jews and He can not lie. It has not been an easy road for them to travel at times but God will honor his word.

I´m with #4. At some point God´s ´hot anger´ will manifest itself against those who are against Israel and He will indeed start to settle all scores. He´s waiting until everyone is against Israel so that when He works there will be NO QUESTION that He is Lord above all. Eventually...... He will restore Israel´s borders to what they were in His original ´deed´ with Abraham AND Jerusalem will become the greatest city in the greatest country on earth.

We know that conservatives are happier people than liberals, but did you know the latest social science says we’re neater people and smell better, too? From the wonderful annals of social science: A 2006 report from the Pew Research Center showed that 45% of conservative Republicans reported being very happy, as compared to 30% of liberal Democrats. According to the report, this “partisan happiness gap” had shown up in surveys every year since 1972. What explains the happiness gap? Some scientists have argued that it can be attributed to personality differences between the two groups or different thinking styles–that conservatives

The quintessential question of Watergate was “what did the President know and when did he know it?” Obamagate, the vast scandal that encompasses an entire presidency, offers a preemptive answer. Hard-charging radio commentator Mark Levin is sick of waiting for the Republican Party to nominate a conservative for president, and today he outlined his plan to accomplish just that. Speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, the talk radio giant and bestselling author issued a call to action to the crowd of social conservatives, prescribing a grassroots movement to elect a conservative to the White House in 2016. Levin lamented that Americans under age 50 haven’t yet had the chance to vote for a true conservative such as Ronald Reagan for president and called on conference attendees to spend the next

The Middle East is like a vast dysfunctional family. Western leftists like to place all the blame on Israel, but for 1,300 years before modern Israel declared its independence, Muslims were routinely killing each other, following the rule: Me against my brother, my brothers and me against our cousins, my clan against the world. One of the weirdest moves in this dysfunctional culture is for Arabs and Turks to accuse each other of being secret Jews. (Snip) But! Today, science comes to the rescue, in the form of DNA analysis. (Snip) By the end of the spring semester, I would bring David three plaintiffs in three separate public university speech code cases. He would win two of those cases after filing suit in federal court. The university caved in the third case after merely catching wind of the fact that they were about to be sued. We were off to a good start working together. Over the course of the summer I started to prepare

A young Orthodox rabbi of my acquaintance denounced Jews who exult in the mutual slaughter of Muslims from the pulpit on the Jewish New Year. He is of course correct: no-one should take pleasure in the death of noncombatants. There is very good reason to believe that they are succeeding. Judging by the proliferation of the horror genre in popular entertainment, we are succumbing to horror

From the window of his Paris home, Michel Ciardi can see into the waiting room of a government welfare agency where a predominantly Arab and African crowd awaits government checks. A former communist, Ciardi once believed the scene at the agency was a necessary element of French efforts to help integrate new immigrants. But that changed in 2000 after the second Palestinian intifada triggered a massive increase in anti-Semitic violence, much of it committed by Arab and African immigrants. The violence was enough to shift his political allegiance to the National Front, a far-right party long demonized by

Watching the parade of the naïve, the far left, and their energy-hogging celebrity manipulators marching in New York City this week, I was struck by how much these true believers had in common with jihadis, a notion reinforced by Perdue Professor Louis Rene Beres’ description of jihadis in Gatestone Institute and my friend “Ignatz´s’" comment at Just One Minute. Both movements seem to these authors to be a means of denying death and change and making the mortal, immortal and the insignificant individual life, a significant force when massed with others. Yet Ernest Hemingway worked for Stalin’s KGB and nobody (among the “smart set”) seems to bat an eye. According to KGB defector Alexander Vassiliev "the 42-year-old Hemingway was recruited by the KGB under the cover name "Argo" in 1941, and cooperated with Soviet agents whom he met in Havana and London. President Barack Obama has taken a lot of flack since his Sunday night “60 Minutes” interview, in which he blamed the intelligence community for his failure to tackle the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. And that is right and proper. The Obama administration found itself scrambling on Tuesday to defend President Barack Obama for his lackluster 42% attendance record on daily intelligence briefings, a finding from a new report issued by the non-partisan Government Accountability Institute (GAI). When asked about the GAI revelation on Fox News, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki appeared flustered and unprepared. "Well, I have no validation of those statistics," said Psaki. "There are a range of ways that you can get your intelligence briefings on the road, in the White House, and I know that he receives those whenever he can."

President Obama this week committed professional suicide. Let me explain. There is a theory in politics that once a leader has fired 50 or more people from his or her administration, he or she is finished. The reason being that by creating so many enemies ‘outside the tent’, the tent itself becomes too deluged with poisonous bile to avoid sinking into a quagmire of back-stabbing ignominy. Obama went a lot further than firing 50 people. He managed to single-handedly alienate 200,000 employees in the American intelligence agencies by going on 60 Minutes and ruthlessly chucking them all under a bus

HOUSTON, Texas -- Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was found not guilty today by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. This is the highest appellate court in Texas for criminal cases and thus brings DeLay’s political persecution to an end. The court upheld the ruling last year from the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals. That decision tossed out the convictions on money laundering and conspiracy charges. At that time Justice Melissa Goodwin wrote “The fundamental problem with the state´s case was its failure to prove proceeds of criminal activity,” according to a September 19th report on Breitbart News.
