DOJ Set to Fight Gay-Marriage
Bans in Supreme Court

ABC News, by Pierre Thomas & Mike Levine *

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/13/2014 2:22:51 PM

The Justice Department is set to urge the Supreme Court to uphold a lower-court ruling and block states from banning same-sex marriage, Attorney General Eric Holder said. The nation´s top law enforcement official´s remarks come just days after Utah officials announced they will ask the Supreme Court to overrule a lower court that concluded gay couples can legally marry in the state. Last month, a federal appeals court ruled that a state ban on gay marriage, approved by Utah voters in 2004, was unconstitutional, finding that states cannot keep two people from marrying simply because they are of the same sex.

It makes one wonder why homosexual issues always seem to be at the top of the 0bamanation list to have DOJ challenge at the Supreme Court.

Can two brothers or father and son marry under this argument? Why not? Why not three people?? This is a very slippery slope purposefully pursued to dismantle traditional stable society and its values.

DOJ has no standing in this case, if one goes by the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. Let´s hope that is what SOTUS adheres to this time.

The point is ...if they are that SICK....why would you want to stop them? I mean, you want your daughter or son to get stuck with them? If God is against it as His Word says He is......then they will have to stand before Him in the Great White Throne Judgment. Because basically, man´s laws mean NOTHING to GOD if they are not in line with God´s laws. I don´t agree with their life styles either BUT.....this is a fallen world and we cannot stop them from sinning.

San Francisco - This weekend may prove eye-popping for sky watchers. Sunday night brings a supermoon, when the full moon coincides with the moon´s closest approach to the Earth during its elliptical orbit around us. The full moon will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter than when it is at its farthest, says Ben Burress, an astronomer with the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland. The moon will be 190,000 miles from the Earth, 20% closer than its farthest point, when it is 240,000 miles away. "Supermoon" isn't an astronomical term. It became popular only in the past few years, according to the website EarthSky.com.

Taxpayer funds spared as judge tosses

A federal judge last week tossed out a complaint from wartime contractor KBR, in a case the Justice Department said could have ended up leaving taxpayers on the hook for ever-increasing costs from the war in Iraq. The more than yearlong dispute centered around how KBR should be paid as the contractor winds down the nearly $38 billion logistics contract used to support troops in Iraq. KBR wanted to continue billing the government on a cost-reimbursable basis, meaning the company gets paid costs plus a fee as the expenses are incurred. But Army officials want KBR to provide a fixed fee, meaning the company would

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Sunday he would keep all options open for the U.S. military to “stamp out” the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Speaking to reporters after a campaign stop for GOP House candidate Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Perry said the U.S. must do “whatever’s required to keep ISIS from continuing to be a clear and present danger” to America and its allies, including sending in American ground troops if needed. “The president historically has been late to action on a lot of these issues that have occurred in the Middle East in particular,” Perry said. “Our allies need to know that we’re going to be there for them.

French forces have bombed Islamist militant positions in northern Mali. Four or five bombs were dropped in the Esssakane region, west of the city of Timbuktu on Sunday morning, the BBC´s Alex Duval Smith in Mali reports. The UN has said al-Qaeda militants were active in the area. Last month Timbuktu airport came under rocket attack. France intervened in Mali in January last year to try to drive out al-Qaeda-linked groups, which had taken over the north of the country. Last month the French government said it was setting up a new military operation to stop the emergence of jihadist groups in the Sahel region of Africa.

The Guardian, one of Britain´s most influential daily newspapers, used its editorial on Friday to warn of the dangers of European anti-Semitism that has been fueled in recent weeks by the tumult in Israel and Gaza. Citing the numerous violent attacks against Jews, synagogues, and other institutions on the Continent in recent years, the newspaper condemned "the conflation of Jews and Israel" while denouncing those who would exploit their anger over Israeli policies toward the Palestinians by attacking Jews in the diaspora. "The controversy has gained extra heat because of the alarming increase in anti-Jewish racism," the Guardian wrote."

For me, watching the Food Network was always an easy escape from the stresses of daily life. There was just something calming about watching chefs in action, and this network had perfected Zen cooking. They’d often use a natural-light filter that made food appear delectable, as if the chefs were blissfully cooking their culinary delights in the sunlit designer kitchen of a tastefully decorated, impeccable home somewhere in the Hamptons. (Well, with Ina Garten, that actually is the case.) I’ve never been anywhere near a sunlit designer kitchen in the Hamptons, but I still found it all oddly soothing. I’d

Barack Obama deliberately set out to lose the war in Iraq, and he did. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. In doing so, he betrayed every American and Iraqi who gave his life to create a free Iraq and keep it out of the clutches of the terrorists. Speaking at the U.S.-Africa Summit earlier this week, Secretary of State John Kerry had a bit of astonishing advice for African leaders. While noting that Africa faces a starvation problem, he also admonished its leaders not to create more farms. The reason? Adding more farms would contribute to “global warming.” Yeah, he really said that: “Certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution and actually contribute to the problem in the first place. It’s a twisted circle. Always complicated. But we also know that there are certain ways to change that. For example, rather than convert natural areas to new farmland, a process

Peace has to start with Israeli and Palestinians leaders, namely Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, US President Barack Obama told the New York Times´ Foreign Affairs columnist Thomas Friedman. [Snip] Obama worried that Netanyahu´s high approval ratings--which have jumped in recent weeks in the wake of Israel´s month-long operation in Gaza--could prevent him from making the difficult concessions needed to reach a long-term deal: "If he doesn’t feel some internal pressure, then it’s hard to see him being able to make some very difficult compromises," like the issue of settlements, the president said.
