When it comes to Atlantic City’s casino mess, don’t put The Blame on The Donald. Billionaire Donald Trump said Saturday that the imminent closing of the Trump Plaza casino in A.C. was no reflection on him or his real estate empire. “I let them use my name, but I got out seven years ago,” Trump told the Daily News. “I have nothing to with it. We may have to do something about the name.” The casino was expected to close its doors Sept. 16, leaving more than 1,000 employees out of work, according to its management. I recently had out of town guests and visited Colorado´s Blackhawk (gambling town)on two separate days. I was shocked at how empty the casinos and the town was. The last time I visited (years ago) the place was working alive with people.

Where have all the gamblers gone?

Maybe after gambling on Obama not once but twice, people are becoming risk averse and can see an obvious loser?

Only flaw in that theory is that it assumes that stupid/gullible people can become smarter. If so, my condolences to the Dems

President Obama made a surprise video appearance at the opening ceremonies of the 2014 Gay Games in Cleveland on Saturday. Joining Greg Louganis, Lance Bass, the Pointer Sisters, and Broadway’s Andrea McArdle and Alex Newell in celebrating the event, Obama said, “Since 1982 the Gay Games have given lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender athletes and supporters around the world a chance to come together to compete, celebrate, and inspire others.” President Obama, who is vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, noted how the country has changed since the games began in 1982. “We’ve also seen America change in that time, even since 2006,

The President didn´t want to strike ISIS in Iraq this week, but he had no choice. But there is still no plan to defeat the group, which gets more powerful by the day. The Obama administration moved quickly this week to try to defend U.S. personnel from an impending advance from the terrorist group ISIS – an offensive that caught the President and his advisers off-guard, and forced him to reconsider his long-standing opposition to new military action in Iraq. But Obama still has not decided on, much less put into motion, any plan to stem ISIS’s expansion, despite having

As evidence mounts of a looming taxpayer-funded bailout of health insurance companies under ObamaCare, the urgency grows for Congress to take this possibility off the table for good. As expected, ObamaCare´s costs are rising, and health insurers are passing them along to patients in the form of higher premiums and deductibles. Just this week, a majority of insurers offering health plans in Florida announced rate increases ranging from 11 to 23 percent. This means that if patients balk at paying this sharp increase and drop their coverage, these health insurers will have to make up the difference somehow. Enter section 1342 of the

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama´s new military strategy in Iraq amounts to trying to contain - not destroy - the Islamic militant group that now controls much of the country´s northern region. That leaves open the questions of how deeply the U.S. will be drawn into the sectarian conflict, and whether airstrikes alone can stop the militants´ momentum. Obama insists he will not send American ground troops back to Iraq after having withdrawn them in 2011, fulfilling a campaign promise. Still, even the limited airstrikes against the vicious insurgency show the president´s conviction that the U.S. military cannot remain dormant after

For me, watching the Food Network was always an easy escape from the stresses of daily life. There was just something calming about watching chefs in action, and this network had perfected Zen cooking. They’d often use a natural-light filter that made food appear delectable, as if the chefs were blissfully cooking their culinary delights in the sunlit designer kitchen of a tastefully decorated, impeccable home somewhere in the Hamptons. He defied the advice of his joint chiefs of staff to secure America’s formidable military presence and keep 20,000 troops in country, and left Iraq to its own devices and the tender mercies of Iran. PRESIDENT OBAMA was right to order military action to prevent a potential genocide in northern Iraq and to stop forces of the al-Qaeda-derived Islamic State from advancing on Baghdad or the Kurdish capital of Irbil. A second intraparty fight for U.S. Senate was too close to call. State Sen.
