Christie calls for ´forceful´ defense

Partly blaming unrest in the Middle East on President Barack Obama, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Saturday that Obama has not spoken firmly and forcefully on Israel´s behalf and that the country no longer trusts it has the full support of the United States because of him. The Republican governor´s remarks came as Israel targeted civilian institutions with suspected ties to the militant organization Hamas and declared it would step up its bombardment of northern Gaza. Israel says it is acting in self-defense against Hamas rockets. Christie cited the violence sparked by the deaths of three Israeli teenagers and said organizations like Hamas

Comments:
He can say this because 0bama will not be running against his ill advised next presidential bid. Nor, is he getting anymore Hurricane Sandy money.

President Richard Nixon’s decision to install a secret recording system — and then to retain the tapes — perhaps ranks as the most consequential self-inflicted political wound of 20th-century America. The criminality, abuse of power, obsession with real and perceived enemies, rage, self-focus, and small-mindedness revealed on those tapes left him abandoned by his own party and forced him to resign 40 years ago. To date, the dissemination of some 250 White House conversations has defined his presidency and its corruption. Now comes John W. Dean, Nixon’s White House counsel and later his chief accuser, to transcribe and

New York - His paintings made news worldwide, but it turns out that former President George W. Bush has been working on another, highly personal project since leaving the White House: He has quietly completed a biography of his father, former President George H.W. Bush. Crown Publishers told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the book, currently untitled, will be released November 11. In 2010, Crown published the younger Bush´s million-selling memoir, "Decision Points." "George H.W. Bush is a great servant, statesman, and father," George W. Thousands, possibly millions, of hockey puck-sized creatures washed up along the shoreline near San Francisco Bay this week, but an expert says don´t be alarmed. Strong winds probably drew the colony of creatures, known as Velella velella, to Ocean Beach in San Francisco, where they dried out and died, said Rich Mooi, curator of invertebrate zoology and geology at the California Academy of Sciences. The creatures, he said, are not dying off. They are known to bloom and float to shores along the northern continents around April, May and early June. The latest bloom, however, is unusual because it happened later than expected.

Amid several outstanding domestic and foreign policy crises Congress must tackle by the end of the week, House Republicans are finalizing their plans to sue President Obama. The House voted 225 to 201 Wednesday afternoon to authorize House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to go forward with the lawsuit. It alleges that the president has overreached on his executive authority by unilaterally changing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. The vote was almost split along party lines, with all Democrats voting "no." Five Republicans also voted against the measure. Four Republicans and three Democrats did not vote.

Ever have your phone stolen? If so, it’s likely you wished for a “kill switch,” a button that would immediately disable your phone, rendering it useless to a thief and protecting your valuable data. Good thing Google and Microsoft will now join Apple and others in including a kill switch function to their operating systems and phones, following a New York State report that indicated a kill switch cuts smart phone robberies by up to 40 percent in some cases. This follows legislation in Minnesota that mandates all smart phones must have a kill switch. Smart phone robberies were at an all time high in 2013, according to data by the report,

More controversially, if Ms Merkel’s deal were to be acceptable to the Russians, the international community would need to recognise Crimea’s independence and its annexation by Russia,

The tax agency is supposed to be run by nonpartisan, career professionals, but the latest set of emails released by the House Ways and Means Committee suggest the agency is anything but. Until the scandal erupted last year, Lois G. Lerner was in charge of the IRS division overseeing tax-exempt organizations. Congressional investigators have spent months sifting through her emails — the ones that didn’t “go missing” — to find out
