Putin pledges to help revive
Cuba´s offshore oil exploration

Havana - Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to help revive Cuba´s struggling offshore oil exploration on Friday at the start of a six-day tour of Latin America as Russia aims to reassert its influence on the communist-ruled island. Putin was joined in Havana by close ally and so-called Russian oil czar Igor Sechin, the chairman of state oil company Rosneft, to finalize a deal to explore for oil off Cuba´s northern coast. The Russian president also promised to reinvest $3.5 billion of Cuban debt with Russia into development projects on the island, part of a deal in which Russia forgave 90 percent of Cuba's debt, or almost $32 billion,

Comments:
With 0bama nixing our most important Monroe Doctrine, both China & Russia are moving in as definite future threats to our security. Tomorrow, Putin will be at World Cup final with Merkel (Germany). Forgiving $32B in debt tells one that whatever Castro has been doing in Cuba isn´t working.

Off the northern coast of Cuba! And how many miles from Key West and U.S. territorial waters?

Obama just rides his bike oblivious to all that is going on in the world. It is so much more fun to be chauffeured around in a limousine, to call up AF 1 to take a little trip, play golf, play pool, go to BBQ joints. He will sometimes stop his fun and games to give a speech written for him and read it off a teleprompter, gotta do his daily blame the republicans or someone else. But then continues being led along by those with agendas because little Barry hasn´t a clue nor has little Barry grown up.

Jimmy Carter negotiated a treaty with Cuba that set the border closer to Florida than Cuba. The treaty was never ratified but continues via executive orders. There have been two previous explorations that have found oil that is not worth developing. Cuba also has deep water drilling rights in the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida could become the next Gaza Strip.

Then there is the flood coming across the border.

John Kerry’s big blunder in

Washington Post Writers Group, by David Ignatius    Original Article

Secretary of State John Kerry has made a significant mistake in how he’s pursuing a Gaza cease-fire — and it’s not surprising that he has upset both the Israelis and some moderate Palestinians. Kerry’s error has been to put so much emphasis on achieving a quick halt to the bloodshed that he has solidified the role of Hamas, the intractable, unpopular Islamist group that leads Gaza, along with the two hard-line Islamist nations that are its key supporters, Qatar and Turkey. In the process, he has undercut not simply the Israelis but also the Egyptians and the Fatah movement that runs the Palestinian Authority, all of which want to see an end to

Illegal immigrant demonstrators were protesting outside the White House on Monday – but don’t expect America’s immigration officers to intervene. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement official indicated that even if the protesters end up getting arrested by D.C. police, they’d have to be serious criminals for ICE to get involved. “Unless the individuals meet ICE’s enforcement priorities, it’s unlikely that the agency would get involved in the case,” the official told FoxNews.com. Under a policy that’s been in effect for several years, ICE focuses deportation mostly on serious criminals and – in some cases -- those caught in the

A U.S. appeals court struck down Virginia´s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage on Monday, the second appeals court to come out in favor of gay marriage. A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, ruled 2-1 to affirm a February ruling by a federal judge who struck down the state ban as unconstitutional. "Denying same-sex couples this choice prohibits them from participating fully in our society, which is precisely the type of segregation that the (U.S. Constitution´s) Fourteenth Amendment cannot countenance," the decision said. The holiday is a Muslim one called "Eid-al-Fitr" and the statement says: his last month has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, and disease. You can understand President Obama´s current political problems -- and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall´s midterm election -- in a single word. And that word is "competence". Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to "Heck of a job, Brownie" and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration. That the basic functioning of government would never be in question. Almost six years on from
