Owners of Trump Plaza
casino expect it will close

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Atlantic City´s crumbling casino market disintegrated even further Saturday as the owners of the Trump Plaza casino said they expect to shut down in mid-September. Trump Entertainment Resorts told The Associated Press that no final decision has been made on the Boardwalk casino. But the company said it expects the casino to close its doors Sept. 16. Notices warning employees of the expected closing will go out to the casino´s 1,000-plus employees Monday. If Trump Plaza closes, Atlantic City could lose a third of its casinos and a quarter of its casino workforce

Comments:
Atlantic City is quickly reverting to its status as ´Camden by the sea´.

It is easy to see how this could happen since the inception of Tribal Owned Casino companies. They can do it cheaper, if not better. Personally, I can completely do without the baggage that accompanies a casino--got it all out of my system before the 1970´s.

Funny how when a union gets involved, the business eventually folds.

Unions are a disease in any economy. Especially when they have unbalanced the power structure of a nation through influence pedalling. Trump entertainment is doing the right thing. The hand writing is on the wall, Macao is the place to invest...China. Same as the Las Vegas Casino owners did. The culinary union, a financial cow for Dirty harry Reid, in Las Vegas has destroyed any future the casinos here may have had. Too bad.

Interesting.....FTA: ~~Bob McDevitt, president of local 54 of the Unite-HERE union, said 7,000 casino workers — or about one in four — have been warned their jobs could disappear within 60 days.~~

.....and, ~~"I let them use my name, but I have nothing to do with it," Trump told the AP on Saturday. "Atlantic City has suffered for years. Many mistakes were made by government, tremendous mistakes, including no reinvestment in town; they would take casino revenue and put it in places that had nothing to do with Atlantic City. I got out seven years ago; my timing was tremendous."~~

The casinos were sold to the citizens of a dowdy, struggling Atlantic City short on tax revenue as their savior. But, from what I can see all they´ve brought in has been more corruption, crime, increased alcoholism, gambling addictions, drugs, and prostitution, all of which, no doubt, they will leave behind them as they fold and leave--one by one.

With all the casinos in Pennsylvania, NY and West Virginia there is no need to travel to a seedy Atlantic City. It was second best to Vegas, and all the new casinos popping up has done it in.

Watch out you NJ citizens. Christie will have to make up casino revenues to the state with higher taxes. If you think your taxes are too high now (which they are), you´ll soon see monumental increases. You´ll be #1 for high taxes for the next thousand years.

Airstrikes in Syria against the extremist Khorasan group were prompted by planning for an “imminent” terror attack on U.S. soil, the Pentagon said. As many as 500,000 people could be infected with Ebola virus disease by the end of January, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. The CDC estimate, due to be released this week, is based on “dynamic modeling” and assumes no additional aid to help battle the disease, a person familiar with the report told the Washington Post. Infectious-disease experts, aid workers and global health advocates said the number of Ebola cases is increasing much more rapidly than the World Health Organization, or WHO, had projected, especially in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, collectively the

On Sunday, a gaggle of queer folks will be joining the “People’s Climate March,” a rally in New York City projected to attract more than 100,000 attendees. Unfortunately, those who could help the cause the most are the least likely to show up. Marching under banners such as “Queers for the Climate,” LGBT climate activists are, first and foremost, agitating for action on climate change. But they are also saying something about what LGBT activism should be about, and saying something quite different from the (current) gay mainstream. The question is whether they can make an impact. One has to wonder just how often members of President Barack Obama´s national security team talk with each other. The federal government is famously gigantic, but the president´s Cabinet is not, particularly if you narrow it to the inner circle that crafts military and national security strategy. One would assume that it wouldn´t be all that difficult to prepare a coherent approach to an international crisis, particularly as Cabinet members testify before Congress amidst deep skepticism of the White House´s strategy to destroy the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS, or in the administration´s preferred acronym, ISIL).
