Rick Perry Takes Shots at Rand Paul’s
‘Isolationism’ in WaPo Op-Ed

Mediaite, by Matt Wilstein

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/12/2014 1:59:57 PM

Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) turned his attention away from the U.S.-Mexico border on Saturday to instead weigh in on foreign policy with an op-ed in the Washington Post titled “Isolationist policies make the threat of terrorism even greater.” In the column, Perry singles out a Wall Street Journal op-ed that Sen. Rand Paul (KY) penned last month that advocated against U.S. military intervention in Iraq. Perry writes that he finds it “disheartening” to hear a fellow Republican like Paul “suggest that our nation should ignore what’s happening in Iraq,” saying that argument ignores the threat that ISIS poses to the United States. Perry goes on:

Comments:
I, for one, see ISIS, and any other terrorist organization as a clear and present danger to US. With 0bama´s secret dealings with nuclear seeking Iran, trying to arm the "Syrian rebels" (now being controlled by Al Qaeda and ISIS), aborted attempt to save Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and now open borders, our way of life and security here is going to be horribly tested. What is happening in Israel currently because of Hamas, may be our future from within because of this constitutional criminal. Rand Paul's spokesman comment: offensive.

Katharine Weymouth, publisher of The Washington Post and the fourth generation of the Graham family to lead it, will step down in October, she said Tuesday. She will be replaced by Frederick J. Ryan Jr., the founding chief executive of Politico, the newspaper said. “The greatest honor of my life has been serving as publisher of The Post these past seven years, working with all of you,” she wrote in a note to her colleagues. “Now, after 17 years at this great institution, it is time for me to explore other opportunities.” The Post was bought by the Amazon.com founder Jeffrey P. Bezos nearly out of the blue last summer.

As our own Philip Rucker first reported last week, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) is the latest senator to be confronted by questions about just how much she actually lives in her home state. Where Landrieu differs from others who have faced similar questions, though, is that she has routinely worked on issues important to the District of Columbia. Hence, there are a whole bunch of news clips talking about her focus on D.C. -- which isn´t exactly helpful for her very difficult reelection race. American Crossroads is up with a damning new web ad splicing together many of these clips. It ends with a particularly devastating quote

Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu is one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents this cycle, and her re-election race is one of the most watched. (Snip) When the Washington Post reported that Landrieu is registered to vote under her parents’ address, she explained that she had lived in that house for most of her life, and stays there when she is not performing Senate duties in Washington or traveling around her home state. Landrieu and her husband own a $2.5 million home four blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Hong Kong - Former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is taking his talents to Wall Street, joining boutique investment bank Moelis & Co. as a vice chairman and board member. Cantor´s move into the private sector was widely anticipated following his June electoral defeat at the hands of an unknown economics professor -- one of the biggest political upsets in recent memory. Cantor then chose to resign from his position in the leadership rather than finish his term. The 7-term congressman´s decision set off speculation about his next gig -- be it at a bank, lobby shop or law firm. Moelis said that Cantor will work out of New York and a

The latest propaganda publication by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) is clearly designed to lure more recruits from Western countries, portraying an idealized picture of a band of “strangers from the East and the West,” drawn together despite national and ethnic differences, in common allegiance to one leader and one sacred cause. One of Islam’s most revered holy sites – the tomb of the Prophet Mohamed – could be destroyed and his body removed to an anonymous grave under plans which threaten to spark discord across the Muslim world. The controversial proposals are part of a consultation document by a leading Saudi academic which has been circulated among the supervisors of al-Masjid al-Nabawi mosque in Medina, where the remains of the Prophet are housed under the Green Dome, visited by millions of pilgrims and venerated as Islam’s second-holiest site. The formal custodian of the mosque is Saudi Arabia’s ageing monarch King Abdullah.

President Obama is increasingly using federal contractors as testing grounds for his social agenda, including a higher minimum wage and expanded gay rights. Driving bidders out of the marketplace, they say, will lead to fewer choices and higher costs for the government. We´ve all heard the expression: "A man´s best friend is his equipment." You haven´t? Well you must not work for the Pentagon. There, military dogs are considered mere "equipment" and as such can be left behind when the troops come home. It´s a bit more complicated than that. Military dogs are enlisted (drafted actually) to identify enemy locations, to seek out bombs and protect bases. It is dangerous, often traumatic, work. The dogs are credited with saving countless U.S. and allied lives, which is why the Taliban actively targets our dogs of war. While on active service, each dog is given a higher rank than its handler.

Each group was randomly assigned to watch either an excerpt from "The Island," an action flick starring Ewan McGregor

President Obama needs to take action to stop Islamic State (Isis) militants from targeting cities in America and Western Europe, two senators have warned. On TV, incompetence is funny, sometimes hilarious. Jackie Gleason made a career of it on the old “Honeymooners” show; Tom Haverford is absurdly incapable on “Parks and Recreation”; and Michael Scott brought the Peter Principle to new heights in “The Office.” But in real life, incompetence can be dangerous, even life-threatening (think a real-life Homer Simpson actually in charge of safety at a nuclear power plant). If you were in a room with Bill Clinton, he would discover the one issue out of 100 on which you agreed; he would probe you with questions, comments, suggestions; and he would tell you that you enabled him to understand it far better than he ever had before. Because I am a black conservative, someone wrote asking me this great question. “What is it that compels some black men and women to cling to, and follow people like Sharpton, Jackson, Wright, Obama, Spike Lee, Black Panthers, Holder, etc.?” I have pondered the same question. Some black folks embrace victim status because it provides cover for their laziness and irresponsible lifestyles. Black Judases preach a false, evil gospel of victimhood-ism for profit. Some blacks are racist, pure and simple. I believe that a majority of black Americans simply have not been exposed to unfiltered conservatism – to blacks articulating how blessed they

The National Institutes of Health study is now in its fourth year, receiving an additional $670,567 for fiscal year 2014, for a total cost of $2.87 million, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Between 1970 and 1990, the population of Philadelphia shrank by a quarter, dropping from 1.95 to 1.59 million. Like many American cities, it seemed caught in a downward spiral. Since then – like many American cities – Philadelphia has stabilized. The population now appears to have bottomed out at the millennium, and has been regaining residents over the past decade. But as it rebounds, Philly is becoming a different kind of city. In the two most recent decades, which comprise the bounce of the city’s population curve, owner-occupied housing dropped even more steeply than in the ’70s and ’80s. Between 2000 and

WASHINGTON — The current Congress is on track to be the worst ever at passing laws since modern record-keeping began, with three of its lawmakers failing to introduce a single bill, The Post has learned. The divided House and Senate have managed to pass just 163 laws that garnered President Obama’s signature since the two-year term began in January 2013. At this rate, Congress will have no problem beating the previous record set during the 2011-2013 session in which 284 laws were passed. That was down from 385 laws passed in the 2009-2011 session.
