James´ return to Cleveland could

WASHINGTON— Celebrations aside, LeBron James´ decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA could complicate the Republican Party´s plan to nominate its presidential contender on Lake Erie´s shores in 2016. If James leads his team into post-season play then, the GOP could find its preferred June 28 start date for the convention impossible because of the site conflict. Convention planners typically take weeks to customize the space with lights, seats and the traditional balloon drop from the rafters — impossible tasks if the Cavaliers go into post-season play. That leaves Republicans looking at their backup date of

James did it with the Cavs in 07 ... Spurs beat them in 4 games.

And the NBA East is pretty weak.

San Francisco -Hundreds of conservative and libertarian political operatives and techies are gathering this weekend in the heart of liberal California to try to bridge the digital disadvantage that dogged the GOP´s presidential candidates in the last two White House campaigns. “We think there is a big opportunity to connect the liberty-minded conservatives and libertarians in Silicon Valley and around the country with the campaigns and the causes that they really care about,” said Garrett Johnson, one of the co-founders of Lincoln Labs, which organized the inaugural Reboot conference that is taking place this weekend in San Francisco. (Video) The Washington Free Beacon has put together a greatest hits compilation of the Democrats’ border security quotes. Why would the Democrats continuously insist that the border is secure? Perhaps because Republicans insist on having a secure border before discussing any type of immigration reform legislation. Democrats don’t think people will catch up to this at some point? The PR game that carried Obama – health care lies and all – to the White House is showing significant signs of incompetent wear and tear

While walking through the halls of the progressive Netroots Nation conference in Detroit, Mich., Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) bolted away from a reporter question about Israel’s Thursday evening invasion of the Gaza Strip. “Senator, as you know, Israel invaded Gaza today and we just wanted to get your thoughts on that,” Capitol City Project’s Joe Schoffstall said, shortly after she greeted the reporter with a smile. “No,” Warren flatly replied while quickly walking away. Other reporters note that this isn’t the first time Warren has dodged a hallway question about, well… any subject:

Remember last summer, when President Obama appointed Joe Biden to head the Campaign to Cut Waste to root out wasteful government spending? Like you, we’ve been anxiously awaiting the results of the comprehensive report that’s surely coming any day now. In the meantime, it seems like he’s adding to the list of things to root out. Last month it was reported that every weekend he gets a lift from D.C. to his home in Wilmington, Delaware, via Air Force Two — the V.P.’s airplane — and Marine Two — the V.P.’s helicopter. And he often gets a mid-weekend lift back

President Obama on Friday called the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 an “outrage of unspeakable proportions,” declared it a “wake-up call” for timid European leaders, and all but laid blame for the tragedy directly at the doorstep of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Obama’s blunt language, delivered in the White House briefing room from behind a lectern with the presidential seal, offered a stark contrast to his muddled public handling of the disaster a day earlier. As the news broke on Thursday, the White House signaled that the president had first learned about the world-shaking events from Putin at the

WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama is foregoing his usual round of weekend golf at a Washington suburban military base. Instead, he and his family are choosing what is for them a rare woodland getaway: a weekend at the presidential mountaintop retreat of Camp David. The family was leaving Friday for the isolated and heavily guarded hideaway in Maryland´s Catoctin Mountains. The White House said the family weekend had already been planned and that he would return to the White House on Sunday. The escape from the White House caps a fierce week of foreign policy eruptions, highlighted by a downed commercial

DENVER — A federal appeals court Friday struck down Oklahoma´s ban on same-sex marriages. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the ban violates the U.S. Constitution´s guarantee of equal protection under the law for everyone. The court stayed its opinion, pending an expected appeal. After President Barack Obama breathlessly addressed four different foreign-policy issues during a 10-minute statement, he summed up the state of a crisis-filled world in one sentence. "We live in a complex world and at a challenging time," Obama said. Obama touched on the laundry list of global flashpoints situations during a statement from the White House on Wednesday — the disputed elections in Afghanistan, the negotiations on Iran´s nuclear program, the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, and, finally, the conflict in Ukraine. The most significant recent development in these situations was the announcement of new sanctions on Russia shortly before the president spoke. Obama described those
