James´ return to Cleveland could

Associated Press, by Philip Elliott

WASHINGTON— Celebrations aside, LeBron James´ decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA could complicate the Republican Party´s plan to nominate its presidential contender on Lake Erie´s shores in 2016. If James leads his team into post-season play then, the GOP could find its preferred June 28 start date for the convention impossible because of the site conflict. Convention planners typically take weeks to customize the space with lights, seats and the traditional balloon drop from the rafters — impossible tasks if the Cavaliers go into post-season play. That leaves Republicans looking at their backup date of

James did it with the Cavs in 07 ... Spurs beat them in 4 games.

And the NBA East is pretty weak.

First lady Michelle Obama has joined Upworthy, the viral news website, as a guest curator as part of her bid to promote higher education for American students. The website, known for its eye-catching, "click bait" headlines, will feature a series of videos that are intended to encourage students to pursue college or trade schools. In the first guest post, titled “I Really Hope The Parents Of These People Get To See What They Said Here. They’d Probably Cry," Obama promotes a video featuring first-generation students from Kansas State University. The first lady says in the post she was also a "little

More and more, Obama seems like a passive observer of events who dismisses criticism as superficial. Not a good combination. “But part of this job is also the theater of it. A part of it is, you know, how are you, how, how are you, well, it´s not something that—that always comes naturally to me.” —President Barack Obama on Meet The Press, Sunday. Some presidents might have garnered a bit of sympathy and understanding with claims that the “theater” of the office doesn’t come naturally to them. During his Sunday "Meet the Press" appearance, President Obama brazenly lied to host Chuck Todd about his January reference to ISIS as "JV." That´s not my judgment, it´s the judgment of PolitiFact, a site created to protect Democrats. This time, though, Obama went too far, even for a leftwing site like PolitiFact: Obama said his JV comment "wasn’t specifically referring to ISIL." He was not specifically asked about Islamic State, but it’s pretty clear this is the group that was being referenced in the conversation. The transcript backs this up, as do news events from the time of the discussion. We

Rep. Bruce Braley (D., Iowa) skipped a key Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Committee hearing in 2012 on the same day he had a fundraiser, again raising questions about his commitment to veterans’ issues, Republicans say. The GOP had already pounced on Braley for missing a hearing held by the full House VA Committee on Sept. 20, 2012, where lawmakers discussed long wait times for veterans’ mental health care, the backlog of disability claims, and the stewardship of VA funding. He also attended three fundraisers that day. Government records show that Braley, this year’s Democratic Senate candidate in Iowa, also missed a

When former President George W. Bush makes a rare visit to Washington today, he won’t criticize President Obama for the bloodletting Obama unleashed with his withdrawal from Iraq. After leaving office, Bush promised Obama his silence. He is a man of his word. But if Bush did speak out, here is what he ought to say: I told you so. In the summer of 2007, Bush warned of the dire consequence of pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq against the advice of our commanders on the ground. All of Washington was telling Bush that the surge he had launched would
