Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that he would press forward with his country´s military offensive In the Gaza Strip, telling reporters that there was ´still more to go´ in the conflict that has already claimed more than 100 lives. He defended the attacks by Israeli forces in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, saying that they are part of a determined effort to halt rocket fire by Palestinian militants. His comments come amid growing pressure from a number of international leaders to cease the military campaign - which has seen Israel attack more than 1,000 targets since Tuesday.

There are few things so revealing about the "progressive" agenda as when they begin to scream ("international pressure") about saving and preserving the wonderful, intrepid idealists of Hamas. Hamas being Nazis, only with different uniforms. "Progressives" don´t want these arabic Nazis wiped off the face of the earth? How interesting...

Each side simply has different values. Hamas´ definition of "peace" is when they are shooting fewer rockets and Israel is not retaliating.

Normally ol´ bat ears would be joining the international community in condemning Israel but he has a big vacation to plan and can´t be bothered with efforts to help his brothers.

The European Union (EU) on Friday offered to take charge of Gaza´s border crossings and work to prevent illegal arms flows, according to The Associated Press (AP). The EU is prepared "to play a strong role" in managing the crossings while assuring that Israel´s security is guaranteed, said the 28-nation bloc´s foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton. The EU offered to reactivate and extend its monitoring of the Rafiah crossing with Egypt and other border posts, provided there will be a UN Security Council mandate for the mission and a sustainable cease-fire in place, according to AP.

Police today named Darren Wilson as the officer who fatally shot Michael Brown and released video stills and an incident report on a robbery shortly before the shooting that named the teenager as the ‘primary suspect’. In a shocking twist to the killing which sparked riots in St Louis over the last few days, the officer investigating the convenience store robbery also attended the scene of the shooting and said the suspect and Brown were the same person. According to the police report, video shows Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson having an altercation with store staff and allegedly stealing box of Swisher Sweets,

Mark Steyn has published his latest brief in his protracted court case with discredited climate scientist Michael Mann (who is suing him for libel) and it´s a corker. Here´s a sample: The audacity of the falsehoods in Mann's court pleadings is breathtaking. For example, on page 19 of his brief below dated January 18, 2013, he cites the international panel chaired by the eminent scientist Lord Oxburgh, FRS as one of the bodies that "exonerated" him, whereas on page 235 of Mann's own book, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars, he states explicitly that "our own work did not fall within the remit of the committee and the hockey stick

EU foreign ministers are holding an emergency meeting in Brussels on Friday to discuss plans to arm Iraq´s Kurds against an extremist insurgency. France and the US have already begun to supply weapons to the Kurds, whose Peshmerga fighters are trying to halt an advance by Islamic State militants. On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki resigned and conceded power to Haider al-Abadi, Iraq´s deputy speaker. Meanwhile, the governor of Dohuk province has warned of a "genocide". Terror group Boko Haram are feared to have abducted almost 100 boys and men in a raid on a village in Nigeria, just months after the militants captured more than 200 schoolgirls. Witnesses said fighters loaded their captives onto trucks before driving away from the remote area in the northeast of the west African country. The bloodthirsty extremists, who aim to reinstate a medieval Islamic caliphate in religiously mixed Nigeria, are likely to have kidnapped the boys in order to force them to fight. Barack Obama is playing a dangerous game of semantics with the America people right now, promising that there will be "no boots on the ground" in Iraq even as teams of "advisers" (including US Marines) yesterday landed for the first time on Mt Sinjar. Chuck Hagel, the US defence secretary was "crystal" on this point last week, telling reporters that "under no circumstances would he [Mr Obama] be sending American troops, boots on the ground, back into combat in Iraq". The UK would "consider favourably" any request for arms from the Kurds in their battle with extremists in Iraq, the foreign secretary has confirmed. Philip Hammond described militant group Islamic State (IS), which is fighting the Kurds and has seized large parts of northern Iraq, as a "terrible threat". It is understood the UK has not been formally asked for direct help. The issue is the subject of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels and the government´s emergency committee. WASHINGTON--The Obama administration denied on Thursday that it was surprised by the processing of a munitions delivery by the Pentagon to Israel during its operation in Gaza last month. Without issuing a full-throated denial of a report that the White House issued a halt on the delivery of Hellfire missiles, administration officials said the claims, first surfacing in the Wall Street Journal, were a mischaracterization of inter-agency procedure, and of a policy unchanged. FERGUSON, Mo. — The friend who was with Michael Brown when he was shot and killed by a police officer near St. Louis over the weekend is reportedly confirming that he and Brown had taken part in the theft of cigars from a convenience store that day. That word comes from the attorney for Dorian Johnson, speaking to MSNBC. Police in Ferguson had earlier announced that Brown was suspected of taking cigars from the convenience store in what was described as a "strong-arm robbery." Brown´s family is accusing police of trying to draw attention away from the shooting.

A Travis County grand jury today indicted Gov. Rick Perry on two charges related to his effort last year to force District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign after her drunken driving arrest. Grand jurors charged Perry, 63, with abuse of official capacity, a first-degree felony, and coercion of a public official. The indictments stemmed from Perry’s threat last summer to withhold $7.2 million in state money from Lehmberg’s office unless she step down – a threat he later carried out by vetoing an appropriation in the state budget. The money was earmarked for the state’s Public Integrity Unit, which is housed in Lehmberg’s office. Perry’s veto forced

In the middle of a war this country’s president publicly says is justified owing to the relentlessness of the rocket fire against civilian populations, U.S. officials proudly tell the Wall Street Journal, they are holding up weapons transfers to Israel: They decided to require White House and State Department approval for even routine munitions requests by Israel, officials say. Instead of being handled as a military-to-military matter, each case is now subject to review—slowing the approval process and signaling to Israel that military assistance once taken for granted is now under closer scrutiny.
