Despite roadblocks, UAW finds
a new path in the South

Tennessean [Nashville, TN], by G. Chambers Williams III

CHATTANOOGA — In a move that is unusual but not unprecedented, the United Auto Workers union has sidestepped its loss in a worker vote in February and created a local union to represent workers at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee. And what´s surprising, considering decades of fierce anti-union efforts from the other foreign-transplant automakers in the South, this time the union has the tacit approval of Volkswagen itself. "We have a consensus agreement with Volkswagen management to form the local and be recognized when we get a majority of the workers to join," said UAW International Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel of

The UAW lost the election to organize the Volkswagen plant, but they aren´t about to take "no" for an answer. Nasty people.

VW in Germany is very pro union. It backed the first attempt by the union and will stay the game.

Unfortunately, the wokers will have little say in the matter and, eventually, be forced to join the union. Kind of a bass-ackwards deal where the workers DON´T want the union but the Management DOES. Like the previous poster said, the German management group has been totally infiltrated and assimilated into a union mind-set.

Pretty despicable behavior that should be publicized. It should get VWs market share below the 1/2% it is already.

#2 Believe VW is looking to establish a workers council but in the U.S. can only be done with a union on the council. Change US law and the union disappears.

There are some subjects that are almost too large for literature, even for Tolstoy, who tried to answer the question “how should one live a moral life in an ethically imperfect world?” by following the fortunes of characters in his novel War and Peace. Some characters seek fame, others sensual gratification, a few — like Napoleon — pursue an egotistical sense of power. But altogether too many of the rest are content to gnaw their way through the world like insects, not only incapable of answering Tolstoy’s question but unable to even ask it. Some even want to meet God,

Debate is raging in the expert community over what ISIS is: a state, transnational ideology, or just a way of life? (Snip) Who wants a movement? Suppose names like “caliphate” and “country” and “movement” are merely terms meant to befuddle pedantic Westerners; they are fancy words thrown in for the left wing liberals because they can understand nothing except in terms of their own provincial tropes.
