This Washington Post puff piece on
President Obama´s recent fundraising

Washington Examiner, by T. Becket Adams

Juliet Eilperin at the Washington Post gained some amount of notoriety earlier this year after she penned an embarrassing and now-debunked attack on Charles and David Koch, the libertarian-leaning bogeymen of the left. And now she has authored what may be this year´s silliest puff piece for the Obama administration. His second term halfway over, President Obama is “trying to free himself from the constraints of office,” Eilperin wrote in an article on the front page of Friday´s paper. And despite Obama´s many critics who have questioned the wisdom of him crisscrossing the country to attend Democratic fundraisers rather than sort out

Obama could "free himself from the constraints of office" simply by using his rogue pen to sign his immediate and irrevocable resignation from office.
Many millions cheer!

WASHINGTON — President Obama is considering airstrikes or airdrops of food and medicine to address a humanitarian crisis among as many as 40,000 religious minorities in Iraq who have been dying of heat and thirst on a mountaintop after death threats from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, administration officials said on Thursday. The president, in meetings with his national security team at the White House on Thursday morning, has been weighing a series of options ranging from dropping humanitarian supplies on Mount Sinjar to military strikes on the fighters from ISIS now at the base of the mountain, a

Americans´ views of Obama,

Americans´ views of both political parties are negative and nearly match historic lows, a new CBS News poll reveals. Just 29 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the Republican Party, down four points from May and just one point above the lowest favorability rating for that party recorded in this poll (in June, 2009). While more - 41 percent - have a positive impression of the Democratic Party, this percentage is also just one point above the all-time low for the Democratic Party, reached in November 1994. National security is a particular strength for the Republican Party; 46 percent

As President Barack Obama considers sidestepping Congress to loosen U.S. immigration policy, a Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Americans are deeply worried that illegal immigration is threatening the nation´s culture and economy. Seventy percent of Americans - including 86 percent of Republicans - believe undocumented immigrants threaten traditional U.S. beliefs and customs, according to the poll. The findings suggest immigration could join Obamacare - the healthcare insurance overhaul - and the economy as hot button issues that encourage more Republicans to vote in November´s congressional election. With Congress failing to agree on broad immigration reforms, Obama could act alone in the next few weeks to

… or is it just his adviser who does? A day ago, Politico reported that incoming House GOP whip Rep. Steve Scalise uses the services of a Washington lobbyist, John Feehery, to help vet potential staffers. Ethical concerns were raised! (E.g., would Feehery, a former leadership aide, help hire people who would then owe him [duh] and maybe help him gain access for his clients?) A “non-story,” tweeted a New York Times reporter. But the real story was buried on Feehery’s blog. Scalise, it seems, has sought out the counsel of someone filled with a sophomoric rage against the Tea

As Gaza remains calm and DC remains on vacation for the foreseeable future, many in the media are finding filling the hours a bit more challenging than usual. Yes, the border crisis is still very much that, but the heat around that story cooled a bit when the Gaza escalation sent producers, reporters and even anchors/hosts overseas to cover the conflict. And polls are easy fillers, particularly ones with results as startling as this for the president (NBC/WSJ has now has him at 40 approve/54 disapprove). But overall, as any cable news exec will tell you, August—outside of hurricanes…and a major

Peter Beinart and Ben Shapiro squared off on CNN tonight over Gaza. Jake Tapper asked who’s to blame for the deaths in Gaza, and the ensuing argument got really heated and personal when Beinart took a shot at Shapiro and said he and Hamas “have a tremendous amount in common.” Shapiro dismissed Beinart’s “idiotic” and “nonsensical idea” that Hamas is upset about Israeli imprisonments. He accused Beinart of always blaming Israeli policy first. Beinart shot back by claiming Shapiro once argued for the expulsion of all Palestinians from Israel and the West Bank, and so, “the true moral and ideological partners,

As National Review Online reports, Cabrera says he’s never seen it this bad among the border force. “Even if he is a confirmed gang member, a confirmed criminal, even by self-admission, we for some reason don’t send them back to their home country – we release them into our country,” Cabrera said. As a result, Cabrera said “morale is at an all-time low right now” because agents are “not allowed to do the job that they

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry flew to Afghanistan late Thursday on an unannounced visit to press the country´s two feuding presidential candidates on the urgency of ending a bitter dispute over June elections and forming a new government by early September. Kerry´s visit comes as the election results are being audited in a process that he brokered last month. Senior officials traveling with Kerry said the U.S. wants to see the ultimate winner inaugurated -- and a new "chief executive officer" chosen by the loser under the terms of a national unity government compromise -- before the upcoming NATO summit

President Obama gave a press conference this evening. He started a little over an hour late without explanation. Reporters stuck to asking questions that they evidently knew Obama would be comfortable answering. None of them asked him about any of his administration scandals. ABC’s Jon Karl, usually a tough questioner of Obama and his spokesmen, asked a rambling question that played right into the Democrats’ “economic patriotism” canard. Despite the fact that the president showed a passionless, bloodless, disinterested face to the world, he still managed to do some damage. Chris Jansing of CNN asked Obama if the sanctions against Russia are working.

The first fady looked positively radiant in a gorgeous neon yellow chiffon dress by Prabal Gurung during the United States-Africa summit dinner Tuesday night. Obama is a known fan of the Nepalese designer, and we adore this vibrant and effortless look on her. She also often favors bright, bold colors—and this shade of electric lemon yellow? Perfection. Darnelle Mason, who is now raising her grandchildren along with her husband, told Fox Business the “excruciating” pain of losing her daughter has only been compounded by the crushing debt. “She was doing what she really loved to do,” Mason said. “So it is really just a crushing

Obama explained that as First Lady it was important to remember to use the position to highlight their personal interests. “We can’t waste this spotlight, it is temporary and life is short and change is needed and women are smarter than men. And the men can’t complain because you’re outnumbered today,” she said as the audience laughed. Obama cited Laura Bush as a First Lady that acted with a level of

Former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton warned of the perilous new age our world has sunken into under President Obama’s leadership. Bolton appeared on Fox Business Wednesday and hammered the president for his failure to effectively lead. “The world is descended into chaos,” Bolton said. He referenced a new WSJ/NBC poll that found Americans are panicking over the uncertain, dismal state of our country. The poll found that only 36 percent of Americans surveyed approve of President Obama’s foreign policy. The former Ambassador warned that if America cowers from a position of power, “you are going to have

The disgraceful video above shows how racist Russian students projected a laser image of Barack Obama eating a banana on to the US Embassy in Moscow. On 4th August, the so-called show began with a message to the US President pretending to wish him a happy 53rd birthday. A likeness of Obama with a party hat on his head then appeared, although the mouth area was made to look like that of a monkey - and a banana repeatedly moved into the mouth. The series of projections are then repeated several times. A group calling itself The Moscow Student Initiative

Dozens of government watchdogs are sounding the alarm that the Obama administration is stonewalling them, in what is being described as an unprecedented challenge to the agencies they´re supposed to oversee. Forty-seven of the government´s 73 independent watchdogs known as inspectors general voiced their complaints in a letter to congressional leaders this week. They accused several major agencies -- the Justice Department, the Peace Corps and the chemical safety board -- of imposing "serious limitations on access to records." The inspectors general are now appealing to Congress to help them do their jobs uncovering waste, fraud, and mismanagement.

Chantal Biya has single-handedly made mullet the new magnificent. Biya’s bouffant is a beauty school master’s thesis in contradictions. Somehow her hair manages to be short and long, rebellious yet elegant, unruly but controlled. And whether she’s visiting the pope or hanging out with Paris Hilton, the 43-year-old’s signature style remains unfazed. Here we humbly submit just a small sampling of the many coifs of Chantal. Washingtonians should expect to see each and every one around town this week.

Concern about rising wealth and income inequality has generated all kinds of solutions, often focused on improving the lot of the people at the bottom with measures such as minimum wages. But instead of putting a floor on what people get, why not put a ceiling on how much they get to keep?(Snip)Suppose that people, after paying ordinary income taxes, would be allowed to keep up to, say, $500,000 of their income, then would be obliged to give away the rest to the charities of their choice or, if they like, to a charity of their own design and creation.
