A ‘year of action’ for Obama?
Or a year of spin?

Washington Post, by Sebastian Payne

Has it been a “year of action” for President Obama? The White House has released a 42-page document boldly proclaiming "an update on what President Obama has done this year to help ensure opportunity for all Americans.” In reality, it’s a collection of spin, listing in a sugar-coated manner what the president has done for everyday Americans through executive orders, speeches, summits and meetings as well as things that would happen anyway. Out of the 45 “new actions to date” in the document, nearly all of them neatly demonstrate how Obama has maneuvered around Congress (his opponents will be thrilled) by using his executive powers,

I´m not in the habit of quoting Limbaugh very often but this is shining example of ´Liberalism Must Endure´ even if the occasional liberal must be sacrificed.

Neither the 42 page document from the WH nor the WaPo article tells us anything we did not know. Its nice to see though that the WaPo is making some effort to get the truth out there.

This is hopeful. Most people are under the impression that "executive action" makes law. This article shows that it doesn´t and in fact, shows Obama up to be a sandbox blowhard -- all diaper and no wee-wee.

For the most part, his "actions" turn out to be suggestions or memos or plans, some of which have gone nowhere so far.

I hope Mr. Payne´s forced retraction doesn´t come so soon that millions of American readers don´t get to see it.

Years ago, many scientists assumed that a woman’s heart worked pretty much the same as a man’s. But as more women entered the male-dominated field of cardiology, many of those assumptions vanished, opening the way for new approaches to research and treatment. A similar shift is underway in Alzheimer’s disease. It has long been known that more women than men get the deadly neurodegenerative disease, and now an emerging body of research is challenging the common wisdom as to why. Although the question is by no means settled, recent findings suggest that biological, genetic and even cultural influences may play

During a trip to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden had some stern words while vowing justice against the killers of Steven Sotloff, who was beheaded by ISIS militants. Earlier in the day, President Barack Obama said ´we will not be intimidated´ and on Tuesday, Sen. Mark Kirk said Obama should ´bomb the hell´ out of them. While speaking Wednesday, Biden also used strong language. “The American people are so much stronger, so much more resolved than any enemy can fully understand,” Biden said, according to Buzzfeed. “As a nation we are united and when people harm Americans

Austin - Sen. Wendy Davis, the Democratic nominee for governor, agreed to join GOP nominee Greg Abbott for a Sept. 30 televised statewide debate in Dallas hosted by KERA, The Dallas Morning News, Telemundo and NBC (Channel 5). It is the second of two debates scheduled. The announcement comes days after a prickly debate over debates erupted between the governor candidates. Last Friday, Abbott, the state’s attorney general, withdrew from a different debate scheduled on Sept. 30 hosted by WFAA-TV and the Texas Tribune citing an inability to agree on debate format, his campaign said. Seven in 10 Americans says the country is on the wrong track and more than half disapprove of the job President Obama is doing, according to a new George Washington Battleground Poll. The poll conducted by Lake Research found just two in 10 people think the country is heading in the right direction, while about 9 percent are unsure. Among those who felt the U.S. is on the wrong track, the leading answer — 7.1 percent — was Mr. Obama’s lack of leadership, followed by a poor foreign policy and problems with Congress. Those who took a rosier view cited progress on health care — 21.3 percent — and then improvement in the

As our own Philip Rucker first reported last week, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) is the latest senator to be confronted by questions about just how much she actually lives in her home state. Where Landrieu differs from others who have faced similar questions, though, is that she has routinely worked on issues important to the District of Columbia. Hence, there are a whole bunch of news clips talking about her focus on D.C. -- which isn´t exactly helpful for her very difficult reelection race. American Crossroads is up with a damning new web ad splicing together many of these clips. It ends with a particularly devastating quote

Let’s shorten the course and make playing 12 holes instead of 18 holes the norm,” Giuliani declared in a Hamptons magazine cover story with golfer Raymond Floyd. “I’ve played tennis for 20 years, and I’ve never played five sets like the pros do,” he explained. “I’ll play three sets with my pals.
