LJUBLJANA, Slovenia — Four Slovenian ski officials were suspended Friday for allegedly rigging the results of pop violinist Vanessa-Mae to help her qualify for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Competing in Sochi for Thailand as Vanessa Vanakorn, using the surname of her Thai father, she finished a distant last among the 67 racers who completed the two runs in the Olympic giant slalom. To earn enough points to be eligible for the games in February, she had to compete in official races in Sweden, Norway, Slovenia and Switzerland. The Slovenian Ski Association said Friday it found evidence indicating that

The Olympics are quickly turning in an expensive version of a ´reality´ TV show. How about "So You Think You Can Ski?" for this episode?

Denver - Seven months after Colorado legalized recreational pot, the state has an unexpected problem. It needs to grow more. Because even though sales have surged, only about 60% of the marijuana sold is the legal variety. The rest is either illegal or grown unregulated in the so-called gray market, where unlicensed citizens can grow for their own use. (Snip) "What that does is, (it) raises the prices and if the price is too high, then we can´t compete with the black market and that was our ultimate goal – we wanted to eliminate the black market," Kammerzell said. FRIENDSHIP, Maine -- Imagine Cape Cod without cod. Maine without lobster. The region´s famous rocky beaches invisible, obscured by constant high waters. It´s already starting to happen. The culprit is the warming seas - and in particular the Gulf of Maine, whose waters are heating up faster than 99 percent of the world´s oceans, scientists say. Long-established species of commercial fish, like cod, herring and northern shrimp, are departing for colder waters. Black sea bass, blue crabs and new species of squid - all highly unusual for the Gulf - are turning up in fishermen´s nets. The Gulf of Maine´s warming reflects broader

Jimmy Carter left the Southern Baptist Church a few years back, citing its “rigid” views. Muslim views tend to be a whole lot more “rigid.” For instance, Saudi Arabia doesn’t allow Christians to build any churches. Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood supporters are waging pogroms against Christians. If a Muslim leaves Islam, they are called an apostate and are often marked or death.
