Did Obama Lose His Pen

Leadership: All year long, President Obama has bragged that if Congress didn´t act on his legislative agenda, he´d do so on his own. But when it comes to the border crisis, he says his hands are tied. Back in January, Obama labeled 2014 a "year of action." He said, "I´ve got a pen and I´ve got a phone" and promised to use them to "take executive actions and administrative actions" if Congress failed to get things done. The White House even issued a "year of action" report this week, which includes "40 actions" Obama has taken (not counting the dozens of unilateral

Forget the pen and the phone. What he´s got is a hammer and a sickle, and he effectively wields both with impunity.

Obama talks in sound-bites. Whatever please him or makes him sound either in control (hence the pen and phone) or hamstrung (hence the blaming of Bush and Republicans) is his mode of manipulation.

Loathing.

Obama is implementing the course of action his group set out to do. It´s the MEDIA who facilitate that process and allow him and his ilk a free pass with his dichotomies. #2 said it best: Obama talks in sound-bites. Whatever please him or makes him sound either in control (hence the pen and phone) or hamstrung (hence the blaming of Bush and Republicans) is his mode of manipulation.

An excellent article which illustrates how slippery Obama is in placing the blame for his policy screw ups on others. Even the normally docile Boehner became frustrated saying that Obama "has been president for five and a half years, when is he going to take responsibility for something".

The Republicans can build all the border fences they want, hire tens of thousands of new border patrol agents, and deploy the national guard to the borderline, but when all that is said and done, the border will be just as insecure as it is today, as long as there is a liberal Democrat President in the White House whose objective is to allow as many illegal aliens to come into the USA and resettle here as possible.

Young illegal aliens are crossing the border unlawfully, surrendering to the border patrol, being put through a streamlined processing procedure, and are then being released with a promise that they will appear sometime in the future for a deportation proceeding, to speed them along, the illegal aliens are handed a bus ticket paid for by the US taxpayer to usually some big sanctuary city run by the liberal Democrats, where there are no effective immigration law enforcement activities allowed, only to disappear and await the next big liberal Democrat

Over the years, the liberal Democrats have amended the immigration laws to make it almost impossible for illegal aliens who are paying immigration lawyers to ever be deported. All this is only going to get worse as foreign countries see that they can dump their surplus poor and uneducated population groups into the USA, and as long as the liberal Democrats believe that they can legalize tens of millions of those illegal aliens and their foreign family members, mostly all poor and uneducated people who believe that the government should take care of them, and then through a path to citizenship process run by the very liberal ethnic and immigrant advocacy groups turn the vast majority of them into new Democrat voters in the years ahead.

Obama Recovery Turns 5:

In a speech last week in Delaware, President Obama was positively bursting with pride about what his policies have produced since the economic recovery started five years ago. "Our businesses have now added nearly 10 million new jobs over the past 52 months," he said, "Construction and housing are rebounding. The auto industry is booming. ... Manufacturing is adding jobs for the first time since the 1990s. The unemployment rate is at its lowest point since September of 2008." Reform: Probably hoping no one would notice, regulators late last week exempted from ObamaCare five U.S. territories where it was failing. Will they do the same once it´s obvious ObamaCare is failing everywhere else? When the geniuses in Congress and the White House were writing the ObamaCare legislation, they made a slight mistake. The law imposed ObamaCare´s guaranteed issue and community rating insurance mandates on the five territories — which have a combined population of more than 4 million — but it exempted them from the individual mandate and didn´t offer any subsidies. Not surprisingly, the insurance markets quickly collapsed

Separation Of Powers: John Boehner´s lawsuit against President Obama is being mocked by the very same people who dismissed an earlier challenge to Obama´s imperial ways — one the Supreme Court unanimously upheld. That case involved Obama´s decision in early 2012 to make "recess" appointments to several key posts, though the Senate was still in session. As with Boehner´s proposed suit, it was widely ridiculed as a "political stunt" without legal merit that would end up backfiring on the GOP. Laurence Tribe, the left´s favorite constitutional law professor, said, "Whatever standards the courts ultimately adopt . .. this case ought to be

Health Reform: Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says critics of ObamaCare should cease and desist, because the law is "working." Given his track record on health care analysis, we´ll politely ignore this advice. In 2011, the same Krugman declared the Veterans Health Administration was "a huge policy success story, which offers important lessons for future health reform" because, among other things, "it´s free from the perverse incentives created when doctors and hospitals profit from expensive tests and procedures." It turns out the VHA is more akin to a cesspool of bloated bureaucracy, mismanagement, deadly delays and cover-ups. A couple years earlier, Krugman was

ObamaCare Enrollment
Numbers Unreliable, Audit Finds

Buried in a largely overlooked government audit of the Obama-Care exchanges is a finding that casts still more doubt on the reliability of the 8 million enrollment number commonly cited by the administration and the press. In a section titled "Other Issues," an inspector general report released last week found that the HealthCare.gov marketplace couldn´t show it had been reconciling its monthly enrollment numbers with insurance companies. That´s despite the fact that the law specifically calls for this reconciliation, and the fact that, as the IG report notes, "the federal marketplace obtained the services of a contractor to reconcile enrollment

Bias: You´d think that a government audit showing how ObamaCare couldn´t tell whether millions of enrollees were eligible for the subsidies they´re getting would be front-page news. Instead, the press hid it from view. If you wanted to read in the New York Times about these findings — which detailed rampant problems verifying eligibility and income information from millions of ObamaCare applicants — you had to dig 17 pages into the news section. In the Washington Post, the story was on page 11, after stop-the-press-stories like a change in House travel reporting rules and a puff piece on the new VA administrator.

Accountability: Two new audits reveal failures in ObamaCare on a scale even we didn´t think possible, with unresolved discrepancies, rules violations and technology problems that expose taxpayers to massive overpayments. In the first of a series of ObamaCare audits, the Health and Human Services inspector general found 2.9 million "inconsistencies" in applications submitted to the federal HealthCare.gov exchange in the first five months of open enrollment. In other words, the Social Security numbers, income, family size, citizenship or other information applicants provided didn´t match existing government data. Some 1.3 million of the problems involved citizenship, and an additional million involved income, the

The federal government is still seeking answers as to why the majority of lesbians are obese and U.S. taxpayers are footing the bill, which now totals $2.87 million. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) study is now in its fourth year, receiving an additional $670,567 for fiscal year 2014. The project seeks to determine why “nearly three-quarters of adult lesbians overweight or obese,” and why gay males are not. In just two years the project’s budget has nearly doubled, growing from $1.5 million to nearly $3 million today, despite fears that sequestration could jeopardize the project and other NIH funding. I guess he really was multitasking out on the golf course. The President’s team has been hard at work behind the scenes, coming up with a strategy … well, maybe we should say plan, to address the nation’s many challenges. Spurred by President Obama’s climate action plan, the Department of Energy is pumping out new standards for refrigerators, dishwashers, air conditioners, ceiling fans, furnaces, boilers, water heaters, lamps and many more appliances. The administration says the standards will not only help the planet but also stimulate the economy by saving consumers money on their energy bills that they can spend elsewhere. After what

ISIS is a cancer that must be stamped out, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry wrote Saturday in an opinion piece for The New York Times. Kerry called the Islamist extremist group, known for beheadings, crucifixions and terror campaigns against religious and ethnic minorities, a "unifying threat to a broad array of countries" that needs to be confronted. Short of world war, it’s rare that a chief executive goes through a foreign policy month like President Obama’s August. Islamic State militants beheaded an American journalist in Syria and spread their reach across the Middle East. War raged between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. It will take two decades to rebuild the thousands of houses destroyed during Israel’s assault on Gaza, according to a recent NGO report. At least 17,000 homes were obliterated or severely damaged during the conflict, with thousands more needing substantial repairs, according to an assessment by Shelter Cluster. More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during the conflict. In addition 71 Israelis were killed – all but six of them soldiers. But the report on Gaza’s housing stock indicates inhabitants of the densely populated strip will face a severe infrastructural burden over the coming years.
