British filmmakers ordered to provide
gay, racial diversity on screen

Washington Times, by Jessica Chasmar

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 7/10/2014 9:06:39 PM

British filmmakers must now meet new targets for ethnic minority, gay and female characters on- and off-screen if they wish to continue receiving funding from Britain’s largest public film fund. The British Film Institute has revealed its “Three Ticks” scheme, which will be implemented in September to ensure diversity in films and behind the scenes, The Telegraph reported. Films must “tick” at least two of three criteria: on-screen diversity; off-screen diversity and “creating opportunities and social mobility,” the paper reported. In the first category, at least one lead character must be “positively reflecting diversity,”

Comments:
How many "icks" will British moviegoers abide before becoming ex-moviegoers? George Orwell might be having a sardonic chuckle right about now, with thought-shaping propaganda peddled without even a shred of pretense.

The key here is that somehow the government provides funding for the filmmakers, so they indeed get to call the shots. More bath house scenes. More lead characters rotting away with aids. More blatant sin. That´s what the British overlords say we need.

Maybe they could make movies about the gay priests who did gay things with teenage boys? Or movies about all the gay serial killers like John Wayne Gacy? Or even a cutting edge indie film about how mentally ill men in asylums love doing gay things to each other in the showers if they get the chance - there are lots of possibilities.

Just saw an ad for "Hotwire." Two married guys, who are taking a mini-vacation from their dog. One can´t wait to get to the newly booked hotel to get some sleep. The other one is disappointed.

I won´t be contributing to Hotwire´s profits.
