New York - The FBI monitored the interactions between Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress and leftwing groups in the US through the 1980s and 1990s as part of its ongoing investigations into what the bureau deemed to be the communist threat to US national security, new documents reveal. (Snip) The bureau monitored meetings between Mandela and other world leaders, tracked the movements of senior ANC officials as they travelled across the US, and kept a close eye on the anti-apartheid activities of the Communist Party USA (CP-USA). If the FBI are interested in communism, what a hey day they could have in DC in our White House. I think there´s an organization of communists in congress too if they´d care to look.

Jim Gilchrist — one of the founders of the Minutemen Project — said he’s reaching out across America to recruit at least 3,500 volunteers who will go to the border to patrol and cover the “porous areas” between San Diego and Brownsville, Texas. The campaign is called “Operation Normandy,” and it’s set for May 1, 2015, Raw Story reported. “If you are familiar with the Normandy invasion of France in 1944, then you have an idea how large and logistically complicated this event will be,” Mr. Gilchrist said, Raw Story reported. “However, there is one difference. We are not going to the border to invade anyone. We are going there to stop an

Washington - The Obama administration is developing a new way for religious nonprofits that object to paying for contraceptives in their health plans to opt out, without submitting a form they say violates their religious beliefs. The government has been searching for solutions since the Supreme Court decided an evangelical college in Illinois can avoid filling out the form while the case is being appealed. That move undercut the accommodation the Obama administration had devised in hopes of resolving religious group´s objections without shifting the cost for birth control to employees. The document, known as Form 700, lets faith-affiliated

The vice president of the National Border Patrol Council says the current border crisis is “the dream of every terrorist in the world,” with illegal immigrants being able to board American jetliners without proper identification. The union, which represents thousands of Border Patrol agents, has accused the Transportation Security Administration of letting illegals board American jetliners with only a “Notice to Appear” document — a claim the federal agency strongly denies, Fox News reported. “This is a document that could easily be forged,” union vice president Shawn Moran told Fox News. “It is simply a computer printout with a name on

Walk down the street in New York and you´re virtually guaranteed to see several millionaires. That´s because more than 1 in every 25 New Yorkers is a millionaire, according to a study released Tuesday. The Big Apple ranks fourth in a listing of the top 20 global cities based on the portion of their populations whose net worth, excluding primary residence, tops $1 million. Altogether, 4.63% of New Yorkers, or 389,100 people, are millionaires, according to the analysis by Spear´s magazine and consulting firm WealthInsight. “New York has long been the bastion of wealth not only in America, but the world," said Oliver Williams, an analyst at

The director, William E. But under the terms of a plea agreement he accepted in April, Mr. Rapfogel paid the remaining balance of $3 million in restitution in exchange for a shorter sentence of 3 ⅓ to 10 years.

Weed isn’t this legal in D.C. yet. In an episode of his online show “GGN: The Double G News Network” that just went live, Snoop Dogg claimed he smoked Mary Jane in a White House bathroom. Though Mr. Dogg did not explicitly say so, the implication was that President Obama was not there when the rapper toked up. For the record: Obama recently turned down pot at a bar in Denver – though, if it’s relevant, he has been known to dodge questions about whether he smokes cigarettes of the non-marijuana variety in the White House. Dogg’s revelation came in an exchange with guest Jimmy Kimmel. Try to follow along:

Sacramento, CA - Gov. Jerry Brown announced Monday that he has signed a bill limiting full-contact football practices at middle and high schools in response to concerns about concussions, even as many teams already comply with the rules. Brown approved the bill, AB 2127, with the support of medical groups and the California Interscholastic Federation, which oversees California high school athletics. Assemblyman Ken Cooley, D-Rancho Cordova, said his bill is motivated by parents worried about the risks associated with concussions, which include long-term brain damage and early onset dementia.

While our current secretary of state John Kerry is under fire for sarcastically joking about Israel’s “pinpoint operation” in Gaza, one former secretary of state echoed those sentiments during an appearance on CNN Tuesday afternoon. Speaking to Wolf Blitzer, Madeleine Albright said she thinks Israel is “overdoing” it with its offensive into the Gaza Strip and losing some of its “moral authority” in the process. “I do think the point has to be made, if rockets are being shot at Israel, that Israel does have a right to defend itself,” Albright said. “But the bottom line is the question of proportionality.” Blitzer singled out her use of the word

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy wasn’t out to make news when he addressed the annual conference of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and devoted most of his 50-minute speech to the Magna Carta, which turns 800 years old in 2015. But Kennedy did let on that he doesn’t belong to the school of Constitution-worshipers who base their legal doctrines on what they glean to be the original, literal meaning of every word and phrase in the nation’s founding document.

In scandal after scandal in the Obama administration, President Obama has said he didn’t know about the problems until he heard it on the news. But the president changed his tune about his supposed ignorance at a Democratic fundraiser near Seattle on Tuesday night. Mr. Obama told supporters that he doesn’t watch the news because, “Whatever they’re reporting about, usually I know.” That contrasts with the explanations that the president and his aides have given from scandals in the past few years ranging from long wait times and deaths at the VA, to the IRS targeting tea party groups, to the

In a potentially crippling blow to Obamacare, a federal appeals court panel declared Tuesday that government subsidies worth billions of dollars that helped 4.7 million people buy insurance on HealthCare.gov are illegal. The 2-1 ruling said such subsidies can be granted only to people who bought insurance in an Obamacare exchange run by an individual state or the District of Columbia—not on the federally run exchange HealthCare.gov. "Section 36B plainly makes subsidies available in the Exchanges established by states," wrote Senior Circuit Judge Raymond Randolph in his majority opinion, where he was joined by Judge Thomas Griffith. The Internal Revenue Service solicitation for “media destruction” services reflects an otherwise routine job to protect sensitive taxpayer information, but it was made while the agency’s record destruction practices remain under a sharp congressional spotlight. WASHINGTON —Polarization and partisanship are a plague on American politics. Political scientists have found that the two parties have each grown more ideologically homogeneous since the 1970s. The Senate hasn’t been so polarized since Reconstruction; the House has not been so divided since around 1900. As measured by laws passed, the current Congress is on track to be among the least productive in our republic’s history. How did this happen? One of the main causes has not gotten enough attention: the party primary system. The reasons behind the shocking primary defeat last month of Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia, who
