How throwaway idea to get friends and
neighbors to pose with a week´s worth

Daily Mail (U.K.), by Jessica Jerreat

Original Article

A group of friends and neighbors in California have posed surrounded by a week´s worth of their garbage to make a powerful statement about the extent of waste in the U.S. The series of images were the idea of photographer Gregg Segal, who wanted to provoke a discussion about the amount of trash the average American creates. Segal set his brave volunteers against natural backgrounds to make it look like they were on the beach, forest floor or floating in a river, and then added the food wrappers, pizza boxes, leftovers and cigarette butts that his brave had brought with them.

Comments:
The Idea is Intellectual Garbage. It insane to which current generations are willing to swallow the Godless Humanist propaganda and willfully place the chains of Oppressive Tyranny upon themselves.

A weeks worth?

You could burn that pile in 20 minutes if you pulled the cans and bottles out. Problem solved. (it´s what your ancestors did with garbage.)

Reminds me of the time Scott Tissue tried to say that the number of tp cardboard rolls used in a year equalled the volume of the Empire State Building. I walked past the ESB, and looked at the rest of the block, then the rest of Manhattan. It wasn´t so much.

Haven´t seen those tubless rolls have you?

Communicating a philosophical or political point with images instead of words is tricky and prone to profound misunderstandings. If you have a point to make, state it.

Since we´re forced to read the artist´s mind to infer his intended message... Did you notice how every picture is shot from a viewpoint above the subject and looking down on them? The message I see in that is Segal disclosing his superiority complex.

Yet another of example of how some people will do ANYTHING to achieve their 15 seconds of fame. (I know what you´re thinking - and, yes, it used to be 15 minutes but with today´s social media technology, 15 seconds is about all egotists can hope to get before their viewers click the mouse button and move on.)

...and I look at these photos and think if these people didn´t eat crap, processed foods, their garbage ´footprint´ would be a lot smaller. But even given that 1/2 of this ends up in the recycle bin (but is there REALLY a market for that, another subject), and as a previous poster wrote, we used to incinerate this instead of burying it....and that can run a steam generator...which can generate electricity...and eliminate trucking garbage to other counties...which can, you get the idea.

I agree with number six. Those people eat a lot of processed or prepackaged food. They sure would have a smaller foot print if they cooked themselves. Oh, and I do work full-time, keep a house, all that stuff, and yet I find time to cook from scratch.

A very large proportion of waste is packaging that manufacturers use to discourage theft. We all pay a hidden tax and our landfills grow immensely all because there are so many thieves among us and our "justice" system can´t be bothered.

JERUSALEM—A Hamas force wearing Israeli army uniforms emerged from a tunnel inside Israel this morning and inflicted losses on Israeli troops before being wiped out. The Hamas squad numbered at least 10 fighters, Israeli sources said. Nine were killed but an Israeli officer said at least two may have escaped through the tunnel. In initial accounts, which gave conflicting narratives, the Hamas force was said to have emerged from a hidden tunnel on the Israeli side of the border only 200 yards from a kibbutz, and split into two groups. Israeli soldiers whom one group encountered shortly afterwards reportedly took them to

The Progressive mantra of “diversity is our strength” is one of the most honored catchphrases of the left. Like all slogans, it is a test to see if common folk are “gun-toting, Bible-clinging” Neanderthals or are they part of the enlightened, educated elites to whom the rest of us must surrender our individual beliefs, opinions, and thoughts. But as with all that the Progressives say, the meaning of the words being used is warped and misrepresented. For example, think about what Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz is saying in the following: Diversity on the bench is critical. As practitioners, you need judges who ´get it!´

I made sure it went in for Monday even though, for technical reasons, I had to reenter it twice into the publishing system. Want to get a new angle on Obama´s Hope and Change mantra? Longshoreman philosopher Eric Hoffer wrote the book about it before Obama was even born: The Ordeal of Change. [E]very radical adjustment is a crisis in self-esteem... It needs inordinate self-confidence to face drastic change without inner trembling. “Action,” wrote Hoffer, “is the most obvious way by which to gain confidence and prove our worth... The president’s demeanor is worrying a lot of people. From the immigration crisis on the Mexican border to the Islamic State rising in Mesopotamia, Barack Obama seems totally detached from the world’s convulsions. When he does interrupt his endless rounds of golf, fundraising and photo ops, it’s for some affectless, mechanical, almost forced public statement.
