Stunned by Israel´s fierce response,
Hamas sends distress signals

Jerusalem Post, by Khaled Abu Toameh

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

When you fire rockets at Israel´s largest cities, including Tel Aviv, among other continuing atrocities and aggression, just what do you expect you are going to get in return; fresh bagels on your doorstep?

I love it. The Israelis did not go for supplies or barracks or ammo dumps. They bombed the homes of the hamas military leaders! Remember all those Israeli drones we kept hearing about flying over Gaza? They were doing a valuable service finding just where all those Bozo muslim monsters live.

Am I really reading this?:

The organization [Hamas] is concerned that if the IDF operation continues for another few days, the movement will pay a very heavy price – one that could even bring about an end to Hamas’s rule over the Gaza Strip.

Bringing about "an end to Hamas´ rule over the Gaza Strip" is just the beginning. Isn´t it obvious that Israel has had enough and is getting serious about wiping out Hamas, an organization which publicly claims as its goal the destruction of Israel?

Did Hamas expect a few softballs from Israel, then they´d go back to blowing up children and women in marketplaces and malls in Israel.

OPEN LETTER TO BIBI: About time. Israel has been more than patient for longer than necessary. Clear out the Gaza viper´s nest, then go after them wherever else their slime trail leads.

I find it comical that they start screaming peace once they start getting their butt kicked. You can only poke the badger so many times before he turns around and shows you what he is capable of. Hamas wants nothing less than the total extinction of Jews in Israel, that the response is as measured as it is just shows that the Israelis really just want to be able to live in peace. I hope that Israel continues to pound them and show them that they are not going to take it anymore.

As you know, there are generally 3 strains of Judaism in the US: Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox.

What I´ve observed is that Reform Jews and non-practicing ethnic Jews tend are lukewarm at best about Israel and often pro-Palestinian.

Overall it seems that Conservative and Orthodox Jews are supportive of Israel, but there are a few Orthodox Jews who are anti-Zionist and do not believe in having the state of Israel.

It looks like about an even split for and against Israel among all American Jews.

This is pathetically funny. The Hamas "bully boys" decide to launch a rocket assault on Israel and expect NO response? Then they whine that their commander´s houses are being targeted. Gee guys, that´s war strategy 101, kill the leaders.

Thugs and blustering bullies. That´s all the Islamists are. Confront them and they run away and whine about the unfairness of the world. The only things that saves Hamas and the Palestinians in general is Israel´s own experience with attempts at extermination. Israel could easily purge these areas and start anew but they will not.

Hamas is hilarious. The schoolyard bully punches the small kid and then finds out that he is a 3rd degree black belt. Israel has accomplished in four days what Lurch and the kenyan fraud have tried to do for months. The resulting peace agreement from this little war will be what Israel wants, not what Washington wants.

Pound the filthy animals until they scream. Lobbing rockets at cities and a nuclear reactor demands heavy payback.

The Israeli response is appropriate considering Hamas and the PLO are nothing more than terrorists. Hope Israel gives Hamas/PLO a major beatdown and ignores all their critics.

Hamas/PLO, the media, and all their lefty cronies will be leaning on the Obama gang to stop Israel. Look for the Obama gang to be critical of Israel and watch them be ignored. Obama has effectively destroyed American influence on the world stage.

Funny if it turns out that Hamas is weaker than everyone thought. Hezbollah and Iran will find that interesting. So will ISIS and AQ. Hamas will find themselves muscled out by the other Islamic gangs.

Awaking to an article such as this tends to put the entire day in perspective. Israel has been given the ability to tell its enemies to go pound sand. And they learned well. Now the hamas bullies cry uncle uncle uncle Israel, US pResident may not be your friend, but US Americans are. Wishing you much luck and much bravery. When your mission is accomplished there, we might ask you to come and assist your American friends in removing our black muslim from office. God be with you.

I think what really surprises Hamas is that they no longer have any friends in the region. al-sisi in Egypt wouldn´t mind seeing them wiped out. Turkey´s not complaining. Obama´s their only pal.

The Israelis will do it right, take out every stronghold of Hamas leadership, every rocket base, and every piece of technical equipment, any means of making war again.

No one will come to their aid. No Arab nation wants to engage the Israelis.

Iran is no match for the Israelis, they just hope for US support to wipe the Jewish nation off the face of the earth.

But they know O´Stinky is a non-starter and has no influence with the Israelis. He is just another piece of trash on the garbage pile of history.

It reminds me of a kid I knew in 9th grade, named Wiley.

Wiley made my life miserable in 9th grade. Every time I saw him, he would call me "skinny" or "skeleton". Non stop, he never tired. He´d get other kids to do it. I was a thin kid so I said a few things back to him but didn´t do much good.

When my sophomore year started, I had a resolve that my new year would not be as bad as the previous year. Wiley saw me that first day, mouthed off...and I said nothing, I hit him square in the cheek hard. The expression on his face was not of anger, or even fear, but of shock....like, how COULD I have hit him, why???!! His hand went up to his face, he just stared before running to the office for help, running like a girl with one hand at his side and the other covering his reddening face.

Did he really think he could just keep causing me pain, nonstop, forever and there would be no retaliation? That I would just roll over and take it?

Kind of like Hamas, eh?

It is obvious that Israel had spent a great deal of time and effort planning their response. All it took was an event to trigger their response.

We should admire their expert planning and execution - something that is greatly lacking in our own administration. There were no contingency plans when Benghazi occurred - not even plans for a timely response. The difference between Israel and America is night and day.

Oh, the IAF went after ammunition caches too. That´s why you often see some really dramatic secondary explosions. Its also why they seem to be bombing empty fields and other places. Hamas got smart after the last operation we didn´t finish properly and dug in (they also have made the rocket manufacturing domestic so unfortunately not only do they have many but they aren´t simply going to run out). Unfortunately they don´t feel able to stop and enter into a (temporary, always temporary) cease-fire until they have managed a "quality resistance operation", i.e. they have to be able to say they killed a lot of Israels and that isn´t a condition anyone is going to volunteer for--even our fifth column who rushed to the Temple Mount to cheer when the rockets reached Jerusalem.

How Much Americans Think

Americans estimate that Washington wastes 51 cents of every dollar it spends, according to a Gallup poll released last week. The timing could not have been more appropriate. The poll was released just days before Congress and the president agreed on a stopgap spending measure to fund federal government programs and agencies indiscriminately at the annualized rate of $1.1 trillion. This year’s figure is tied for the highest since Gallup began asking the question in 1979. The 2011 survey, conducted after the $800 billion stimulus bill was enacted, also registered 51 percent. Except for a low point of 38 percent during

If you believe the media, today’s People’s Climate March was a gathering of grandmothers, adorable kiddies and smiling college students in polar bear costumes to urge us all to live in miserable poverty in order to save the planet from a threat that doesn’t exist. Except for the Green Energy tycoons behind this thing who will get very, very rich. (Just ask Al Gore, who was there.) But when most people hear the word “People” and “March” in one sentence, they think commies. And indeed there were plenty of Commies there. Also terrorist supporters and random lunatics from the great asylum

Of late, Hollywood has given us all kinds of movies about the military. The worst of them—such as “Green Zone,” a dreadful 2010 film that rightfully bombed at the box office—demonize and diminish our men and women in uniform to feed Tinseltown’s impulse to please the Code Pink crowd. (Snip) It’s all too rare we see movies that humanize those who fight for us, that deliver a truly honest portrayal of the difficulties of balancing service and sacrifice. There is a movie that’s getting a limited theatrical release that does just that. “Fort Bliss” is the fictional account of an Army

THE narrow victory of the left-leaning Social Democratic Party in Sweden’s elections last Sunday marked a broad shift in its politics. But a new coalition government is unlikely to reconsider one of the country’s most challenging policies: its response to the Syrian civil war. Sweden has taken an open-door approach to people fleeing the conflict, accepting more Syrians than any other European country. Never mind that Sweden has double-digit youth unemployment. That there have been riots in immigrant neighborhoods in Stockholm. That there is a severe housing shortage for new arrivals. Or that the Swedish Migration Board, which handles asylum seekers,

While Scotland’s voters weighed whether to separate from the United Kingdom Thursday, another decision involved its most famous institution separating from 260 years of tradition. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews voted overwhelmingly to admit women, echoing a similar decision at the far younger Augusta National Golf Club in 2012. In both cases, a private organization made a decision it was entitled to make. But the environment surrounding both decisions, and the reactions thereafter, paint a disturbing portrait of a thickening cultural fog. Let us begin with a premise that will drop jaws on both sides of the Atlantic:

Fresh terror busts in Australia expose a common Achilles´ heel of the West: Indiscriminate refugee policies turn free countries into breeding grounds for jihad. It´s the same game in America. Soldiers of Islam have weaponized our blind generosity against us. In Sydney this week, authorities detained a half-dozen Muslim plotters and arrested a top collaborator in an alleged conspiracy to kidnap and behead a random Australian citizen. The accused mastermind? Afghan refugee turned Aussie Islamic State recruiter Mohammad Ali Baryalei. He and his aristocratic family were welcomed Down Under decades ago. In what is being billed as a reason for conservatives to be encouraged, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, has been tapped to head the Senate Steering Committee, a conference of Republican lawmakers working to advance a conservative agenda. Lee will take the helm from Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, chairman for the past two years. In a prepared statement, Lee said: The Senate Steering Committee will continue to develop and promote conservative solutions and facilitate vigorous discussion and debate on the issues that matter most to the country. I look forward to leading this effort and very much appreciate the support

People in Panama feel happiest about their lives, according to a new global well-being poll in which the U.S. finished 12th and the United Kingdom 26th. There were six Latin American countries in the top 10 in the poll, which asked people to measure their well-being across five key areas. Panamanians were well above the world average for feeling positive about their lives - 61 per cent were found to be ´thriving´ in at least three of the five facets - compared with just 17 per cent internationally. The five elements of the poll were: purpose - liking what you do each

A village of just 1,000 residents in Switzerland has been forced to raise taxes because an African refugee and her seven children cost the local authority £40,000 in benefits every month. Hagenbuch, in the Swiss canton of Zurich, is understood to be spending close to a third of its total annual budget on the family after they arrived from Eritrea in East Africa three years ago. The massive benefits bill covers day-to-day living expenses such as groceries and cleaning costs, as well as paying for four of the woman´s children to be housed in an orphanage and even bills for

Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS. Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago. “I’m

The United Nations Climate Summit will begin in New York this Tuesday, but environmental activists didn’t wait. All day Sunday, they filled the streets of Manhattan for a march that featured Al Gore, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, and various Hollywood actors. But they certainly didn’t act like a movement that was winning. There was a tone of fatalism in the comments of many with whom I spoke; they despair that the kind of radical change they advocate probably won’t result from the normal democratic process. It’s no surprise then that the rhetoric of climate-change activists has become increasingly

He was a leading figure in one of the biggest climate change marches to date. But it seems Robert F Kennedy Jr was not so forthcoming when it came to questions about his own carbon footprint. Confronted by a reporter asking if he would give up his phone and car, the environmental lawyer became visibly irate before grabbing the microphone and accusing her of ´destroying democracy´ as a member of the press. The interview in New York yesterday afternoon started with a conversation about the number of flyers produced for the event, which Kennedy Jr claimed was necessary to garner ´people power´.

Although Emanuel claims that *he* doesn´t want to live past the age of 75, the article itself could have been a listicle titled, "Top 15 Reasons No One Over 75 Should Receive Healthcare." Emanuel even includes a monstrous but brightly colored graph that is meant to tell anyone over 75 that their "last contribution" to society likely occurred more than a decade ago. Good God. President Obama is supporting the Secret Service in the wake of a deeply troubling incident in which a disturbed man jumped the White House fence, sprinted across the North Lawn, and actually entered the White House Friday evening. The man, 42 year-old Omar Gonzalez, had a folding knife in his pocket and had left 800 rounds of ammunition in his car not far from the White House. Gonzalez had also drawn the attention of authorities at least twice a few weeks ago — once in Virginia, when he was found with a sniper rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, and a map with

Previously unpublished correspondence between Hillary Clinton and the late left-wing organizer Saul Alinsky reveal new details about her relationship with the controversial Chicago activist and shed light on her early ideological development. Clinton met with Alinsky several times in 1968 while writing a Wellesley college thesis about his theory of community organizing. Clinton’s relationship with Alinsky, and her support for his philosophy, continued for several years after she entered Yale law school in 1969, two letters obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show. It was once said, “religion is designed to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.” Jesus’ parables – short stories with moral lessons – were likewise designed to afflict, to draw us in but leave us uncomfortable. These teachings can be read as being about divine love and salvation, sure. But, their first listeners – first century Jews in Galilee and Judea – heard much more challenging messages. Only when we hear the parables as Jesus’ own audience did can we fully experience their power and find ourselves surprised and challenged today. Here are four examples of Jesus’ teachings that everybody gets wrong: 1.

Lois Lerner says she is no Jeffrey Dahmer. The former Internal Revenue Service official referenced the infamous cannibalistic serial killer as she broke her silence for the first time about last year’s IRS scandal. Lerner told the website Politico that she has been the recipient of threats and hate mail, describing how one person called her “the worst person ever in the United States.” “I just thought, ‘Boy, worse than Jeffrey Dahmer?’” Lerner quipped. Lerner, who led the tax-exempt division of the IRS, was forced out of the agency after she found herself at the center of the scandal over the agency’s targeting of conservative groups

Fraternities at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, must start accepting women and all residential fraternities must become fully co-educational over the next three years, the school’s Board of Trustees has ruled. The decision was made “with equality and inclusion in mind,” school President Michael Roth and Trustee Chairman Joshua Boger wrote in an email to students on Monday, Business Insider reported. “Our residential Greek organizations inspire loyalty, community and independence. That’s why all our students should be eligible to join them.” The school has focused on issues with Greek life ever since a woman filed a lawsuit against Wesleyan two years ago

Gen. Michael Nagata is promising to build a new force to destroy ISIS, but lawmakers worry he has been given an impossible mission. As lawmakers prepared to take a risky and fateful vote on Obama’s plan to train and equip the Syrian rebels, the man who assured them it could be done was Gen. Michael Nagata, Obama’s point man for the mission to build an ISIS-killing army in Syria. There are skeptics both inside and outside the government who doubt Obama’s new plan to arm the Syrian rebels can work. First of all, the administration has said for years that the moderate
