Stunned by Israel´s fierce response,
Hamas sends distress signals

Jerusalem Post, by Khaled Abu Toameh

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

When you fire rockets at Israel´s largest cities, including Tel Aviv, among other continuing atrocities and aggression, just what do you expect you are going to get in return; fresh bagels on your doorstep?

I love it. The Israelis did not go for supplies or barracks or ammo dumps. They bombed the homes of the hamas military leaders! Remember all those Israeli drones we kept hearing about flying over Gaza? They were doing a valuable service finding just where all those Bozo muslim monsters live.

Am I really reading this?:

The organization [Hamas] is concerned that if the IDF operation continues for another few days, the movement will pay a very heavy price – one that could even bring about an end to Hamas’s rule over the Gaza Strip.

Bringing about "an end to Hamas´ rule over the Gaza Strip" is just the beginning. Isn´t it obvious that Israel has had enough and is getting serious about wiping out Hamas, an organization which publicly claims as its goal the destruction of Israel?

Did Hamas expect a few softballs from Israel, then they´d go back to blowing up children and women in marketplaces and malls in Israel.

OPEN LETTER TO BIBI: About time. Israel has been more than patient for longer than necessary. Clear out the Gaza viper´s nest, then go after them wherever else their slime trail leads.

I find it comical that they start screaming peace once they start getting their butt kicked. You can only poke the badger so many times before he turns around and shows you what he is capable of. Hamas wants nothing less than the total extinction of Jews in Israel, that the response is as measured as it is just shows that the Israelis really just want to be able to live in peace. I hope that Israel continues to pound them and show them that they are not going to take it anymore.

As you know, there are generally 3 strains of Judaism in the US: Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox.

What I´ve observed is that Reform Jews and non-practicing ethnic Jews tend are lukewarm at best about Israel and often pro-Palestinian.

Overall it seems that Conservative and Orthodox Jews are supportive of Israel, but there are a few Orthodox Jews who are anti-Zionist and do not believe in having the state of Israel.

It looks like about an even split for and against Israel among all American Jews.

This is pathetically funny. The Hamas "bully boys" decide to launch a rocket assault on Israel and expect NO response? Then they whine that their commander´s houses are being targeted. Gee guys, that´s war strategy 101, kill the leaders.

Thugs and blustering bullies. That´s all the Islamists are. Confront them and they run away and whine about the unfairness of the world. The only things that saves Hamas and the Palestinians in general is Israel´s own experience with attempts at extermination. Israel could easily purge these areas and start anew but they will not.

Hamas is hilarious. The schoolyard bully punches the small kid and then finds out that he is a 3rd degree black belt. Israel has accomplished in four days what Lurch and the kenyan fraud have tried to do for months. The resulting peace agreement from this little war will be what Israel wants, not what Washington wants.

Pound the filthy animals until they scream. Lobbing rockets at cities and a nuclear reactor demands heavy payback.

Wish we could talk Bibi into accepting the next presidency of the U.S., now that being foreign born doesn´t disqualify anymore. I would truly not mind a massive immigration of jewish people from Israel into our country. It would increase the national IQ of America about 75%.

The Israeli response is appropriate considering Hamas and the PLO are nothing more than terrorists. Hope Israel gives Hamas/PLO a major beatdown and ignores all their critics.

Hamas/PLO, the media, and all their lefty cronies will be leaning on the Obama gang to stop Israel. Look for the Obama gang to be critical of Israel and watch them be ignored. Obama has effectively destroyed American influence on the world stage.

Funny if it turns out that Hamas is weaker than everyone thought. Hezbollah and Iran will find that interesting. So will ISIS and AQ. Hamas will find themselves muscled out by the other Islamic gangs.

Awaking to an article such as this tends to put the entire day in perspective. Israel has been given the ability to tell its enemies to go pound sand. And they learned well. Now the hamas bullies cry uncle uncle uncle Israel, US pResident may not be your friend, but US Americans are. Wishing you much luck and much bravery. When your mission is accomplished there, we might ask you to come and assist your American friends in removing our black muslim from office. God be with you.

I think what really surprises Hamas is that they no longer have any friends in the region. al-sisi in Egypt wouldn´t mind seeing them wiped out. Turkey´s not complaining. Obama´s their only pal.

The Israelis will do it right, take out every stronghold of Hamas leadership, every rocket base, and every piece of technical equipment, any means of making war again.

No one will come to their aid. No Arab nation wants to engage the Israelis.

Iran is no match for the Israelis, they just hope for US support to wipe the Jewish nation off the face of the earth.

But they know O´Stinky is a non-starter and has no influence with the Israelis. He is just another piece of trash on the garbage pile of history.

It reminds me of a kid I knew in 9th grade, named Wiley.

Wiley made my life miserable in 9th grade. Every time I saw him, he would call me "skinny" or "skeleton". Non stop, he never tired. He´d get other kids to do it. I was a thin kid so I said a few things back to him but didn´t do much good.

When my sophomore year started, I had a resolve that my new year would not be as bad as the previous year. Wiley saw me that first day, mouthed off...and I said nothing, I hit him square in the cheek hard. The expression on his face was not of anger, or even fear, but of shock....like, how COULD I have hit him, why???!! His hand went up to his face, he just stared before running to the office for help, running like a girl with one hand at his side and the other covering his reddening face.

Did he really think he could just keep causing me pain, nonstop, forever and there would be no retaliation? That I would just roll over and take it?

Kind of like Hamas, eh?

It is obvious that Israel had spent a great deal of time and effort planning their response. All it took was an event to trigger their response.

We should admire their expert planning and execution - something that is greatly lacking in our own administration. There were no contingency plans when Benghazi occurred - not even plans for a timely response. The difference between Israel and America is night and day.

Oh, the IAF went after ammunition caches too. That´s why you often see some really dramatic secondary explosions. Its also why they seem to be bombing empty fields and other places. Hamas got smart after the last operation we didn´t finish properly and dug in (they also have made the rocket manufacturing domestic so unfortunately not only do they have many but they aren´t simply going to run out). Unfortunately they don´t feel able to stop and enter into a (temporary, always temporary) cease-fire until they have managed a "quality resistance operation", i.e. they have to be able to say they killed a lot of Israels and that isn´t a condition anyone is going to volunteer for--even our fifth column who rushed to the Temple Mount to cheer when the rockets reached Jerusalem.

Most Americans Disapprove of
Media’s Coverage of Ferguson
Daily Signal, by Philip Wegmann    Original Article

Most Americans say that things would be different in Ferguson, Mo., if the racial roles had been reversed. According to a Rasmussen Poll released today, many believe the media’s coverage of the incident would differ if a black police officer had shot a white teenager. A majority, 54 percent, agree the media would have reported the death of Michael Brown differently according to the color of his skin. Regardless of race—white, black and other minority adults—most believe the shooting would garner less media attention. As things stand now, however, only about 1 in 3 Americans approve of the media’s coverage of the

Government to Farmers: Host Same-

Should the government be able to coerce a family farm into hosting a same-sex wedding? In a free society, the answer is no. (Snip) Government shouldn’t be able to fine citizens for acting in the market according to their own—rather than the government’s—values, unless there is a compelling government interest being pursued in the least restrictive way possible. But the New York State Division of Human Rights doesn’t see things this way. On August 8, it fined Cynthia and Robert Gifford $13,000 for acting on their belief that marriage is the union of a man and woman

For his first term and re-election, ideological differences dominated the debate surrounding President Obama. (Snip) His recent interview with The Economist brings into stark relief Obama’s fundamental lack of understanding of the art of governing and how America’s federal system operates. In this interview, Obama expounds on his frustration that business keeps lobbying for special treatment. Is he serious? Can he really be that obtuse? It is a mind-boggling comment. Everyone lobbies for special favors in Washington — it’s the town’s main industry. Business, labor, environmentalists, cities, states — you name the interest and I can guarantee they have their hand out.

Random thoughts on the passing scene: I don´t know why we are spending our hard-earned money paying taxes to support a criminal justice system, when issues of guilt and innocence are being determined on television -- and even punishment is being meted out by CNN´s showing the home and address of the policeman accused in the Ferguson, Missouri shooting.(Snip) It is amazing how many otherwise sane people want Israel to become the first nation in history to respond to military attacks by restricting what they do, so that it is "proportionate" to the damage inflicted by the attacks.

Let me begin by acknowledging that this inspirational title is lifted from a tweet by screen actor James Woods. And now I will explicate his tweet. Every sentient human being whose brain isn’t stuffed with ideological fairy dust can see that Obama is behind every major scandal of his administration from Benghazi to the I.R.S. disgrace. How can one know this? Because the culprits haven’t been fired. Moreover, if they are serial liars like Susan Rice, they’ve actually been promoted to posts where their loyalty to the criminal-in-chief can do America and its citizens even more damage, if that is

In what is being called by organizers the biggest pro-Israel, anti-terrorist rally in recent years, an estimated 20,000 gathered in India on Saturday in a show of solidarity with Israel. Protesters holding pro-Israel banners marched through the streets of Kolkata, while community heads delivered speeches proclaiming Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas. “The destiny of both India and Israel as thriving democracies are intertwined. We both share the same values,” said rally organizer Tapan Ghosh. The August 16 event was organized by a political movement known as Hindu Samhati in memory of Gopal Mukhopadhyay, who, according to press material, is “a

I was attacked by a swan the other day, as I walked along the bank of the River Stour in Kent. History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes, quipped Mark Twain. As with most of Twain’s homilies, it’s funny because it’s true. So as the world commemorates the Guns of August—that is, the start of World War I-- history is not repeating itself. But the world today does seem to have a certain poetic, unrhymed iambic pentameter in common with the Great War. “With a dimming of the lights and ceremonies across this country and in Belgium, monarchs, princes, presidents and citizens prepared on Monday to mark the day 100 years ago when Britain entered World War I at the start of four years

As a young graduate student in the early 1970s, I had the pleasure of listening to E. P. Thompson, the British labor historian whose book, The Making of the English Working Class, rippled like an electric current through liberal academia. As the aristocratic Thompson understood it, the imposition of a market economy on once self-sufficient English farmers led to the food riots in remote sections of the British countryside during the early eighteenth century. But when my mentor, Julius Rubin—a rumpled, soft-spoken economic historian at the University of Pittsburgh—responded that the towns where the food riots occurred were

From nearly 1,000 miles away, several Redskins players used the Monday Night Football stage to draw attention to the situation that has been unfolding in Ferguson, Missouri by running onto FedExField with their hands up in the air. Ferguson is where unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer on Aug. 9. Witnesses have said he was not aggressive toward the officer and had his hands raised above his head before he was shot. As a result, the words “hands up, don’t shoot” have become a rallying cry of protesters, both in Ferguson and online.

Barack Obama’s presidency isn’t just shrinking, it’s losing support among its most critical point — its base. Less than two years ago, Barack Obama became the first Democratic president since FDR to win re-election with a popular-vote majority. Since then, his support has dropped dramatically — not just overall, but among important constituent groups. Comparing 2012 exit poll results with an Aug. 8 McClatchy-Marist nationwide poll shows how far Mr. Obama has fallen with various segments of the population. In 2012, Mr. Obama won among women 55 percent to 44 percent. Today, his approval rating among women is 41 percent, with
