A Folsom woman described by police as a high-priced prostitute stands accused of injecting a Bay Area client with a fatal dose of heroin before stepping over his body, finishing off a glass of wine and fleeing with evidence. In a case that quickly became an international media sensation, Alix Catherine Tichelman, 26, was arraigned in Santa Cruz Superior Court on Wednesday on eight felony and misdemeanor charges including manslaughter, prostitution, destruction of evidence and transportation of narcotics. She is being held in lieu of $1.5 million bail. (Snip) Tichelman is the daughter of Folsom technology executive Bart Tichelman, according to

Bragged to law enforcement of having more than 200 "clients". She was meeting them though a website that "calls itself the ´leading Sugar Daddy dating site where over 3 million members fuel mutually beneficial relationships on their terms.´ " and purportedly operates in Las Vegas, Ukraine (!) and Singapore.

She was linked to Hayes´s death because she had a "relationship" with him.

Yet tributes at his death characterized him as a man to whom his family was everything. Not quite.

No sympathy here. I doubt she held him down and injected him with heroin without his consent. You play with fire sometimes you get burnt.

No wonder the tech industry execs support the Democrat party -- they like the dark side. Guess that is what happens when you believe that religion is superstition.

How could his wife have a memorial service for him? He should have been buried in a quiet, family-only service for the sake of his children.

What he deserved was to have his body taken out to sea and dumped. Shame on him for bringing shame on his family.

True, #7, one would think that looks, for a prostitute, would have something to do with volume of trade. But according to law enforcement, it´s what the prostitutes are willing to do rather than how they look that garners them a clientele.

#8, iwould offer that that is true not for just prostitutes(and not just sex acts). My experiences would say that looks are much lower on the list than many other things a woman does that makes a man want to be with her.

Our AJC colleague Nicholas Fouriezos passes along the following dispatch: The racial unrest caused by tensions over the shooting of black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., could be a rallying cry for Democratic get-out-the-vote efforts, according to the voter education committee chair for the Democratic Southern caucus. “There is a story beneath the story in Ferguson,” chairwoman Janet May said at the Southern Caucus meeting during the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta on Friday. May ran through the stats of the 21,000-person Missouri town: 13,000 black citizens, about 7,000 white. Five city council members– one of whom was black.

Not terribly long ago in a country that many people misremember, if they knew it at all, a black person was killed in public every four days for often the most mundane of infractions, or rather accusation of infractions – for taking a hog, making boastful remarks, for stealing 75 cents. For the most banal of missteps, the penalty could be an hours-long spectacle of torture and lynching. No trial, no jury, no judge, no appeal. Now, well into a new century, as a family in Ferguson, Missouri, buries yet another American teenager killed at the hands of authorities, the

The purpose of a grand jury, in theory, is to protect citizens against unfair and unwarranted prosecutions by the government. In medieval England, it was viewed as a protection against the Crown. Colonists found the institution protected them against unfair English prosecutions and included the right to a grand jury in the Fifth Amendment. But in practice, the prosecutor who runs the grand jury has a great deal of influence in orchestrating the outcome. American black people are being lied to and the lies destroy them. They are being lied to by corrupt people like Attorney General Eric Holder and Al Sharpton Jr. and Jesse Jackson and the leftists in our news media. They are being told that their poverty is due to prejudice and that the police are targeting them out of bigotry. They are being told that the dreadful existence of slum life grew out of slavery and is being perpetuated by hatred. None of this is true. Poor black people are poor because they have no family structure and get little education.
