Obama’s Katrina? It’s Actually Worse
Commentary Magazine, by Jonathan S. Tobin

Original Article

For once, I have to agree with the White House. They’re right to deny that the debacle along the border with Mexico is President Obama’s Hurricane Katrina moment. It’s actually much worse. White House Domestic Policy Council Director Cecilia Muñoz said it wasn’t fair to compare the debacle along the border with Mexico to Hurricane Katrina. She’s right about that. The Katrina analogy has been mooted by a number of conservative writers but got some extra juice this week when Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar, whose Texas district is situated along the border where locals have been overwhelmed by the surge of

Katrina was a natural disaster. The amnesty mess is a man-caused disaster, much like any other terrorist event.

This IS a man caused disaster, fomented by the obama bunch, to bully Congress and the people into ´immigration reform´.

However, just like Fast and Furious, it has blown up in their face and now the government is hiding the scale of this disaster.

AND, this is a disaster that will keep on giving for decades.

Katrina was also a Democratic caused disaster. Check who the Mayor of New Orleans was at the time.

Everyday is like Katrina with this President. He´s been the worst of Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon combined.

I wish I´d never heard the name Barack Hussein Obama. Our country seemed so different before him. Remember the the Middle East was pretty stable? When Israel was our ally? When Poland and Turkey had the missle shield? No Benghzi. No IRS. No Eric Holder. No border meltdown. No jihadists taking over the middle east. Never heard of the knockout game. It seems so long ago

The response to Hurricane Katrina at the REAL ´Ground Zero´ here on the Mississippi coast was SUPERB! NEVER forget that!
I know! I live here! I had 14 feet of storm surge water in my yard, and my (raised) house is the southernmost house in my neighborhood that was still standing after the storm.

The response in Louisiana, and particularly in New Orleans, was delayed by the Democrat-party governor Blanco and (recently-convicted) Mayor Nagin. My understanding is that they deliberately refused Federal help so as to delay the disaster response, in order to blame President Bush.

On the other hand, as I understand it, the illegal immigration disaster has been caused by Obama´s deliberate dereliction of duty and his deliberate policy to not secure the border with Mexico.

Only two years ago, House Republicans voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Recently, Senate Republicans have trashed the former head of his civil rights division, Thomas Perez, and blocked his current choice to run the division, Debo Adegbile. But now the attorney general is making surprising friends with his efforts to cut the nation’s prison population. Among his unlikely allies are congressional Republicans and even Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry. “They did what they did and I disagree with it,” Holder said in an interview last week, still stung by the contempt citation. “But at

Malia Obama was spotted attending music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago this weekend. President Obama´s eldest daughter, who recently celebrated her 16th birthday, was attending the gig with friends - and a few burly Secret Service members on Sunday. The teenager attempted to blend in with the crowd in a summery daisy-print skirt and top and some grungy boots suited for the muddy field - but failed to do so. She left after watching the last act Chance The Rapper, where R. Kelly came on stage, on Sunday night. The teenager stayed until the finale was over and then left the park on foot with friends, according to TMZ.

A federal law that aims to curb childhood obesity means that, in dozens of states, bake sales must adhere to nutrition requirements that could replace cupcakes and brownies with fruit cups and granola bars. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on Friday scheduled a Sept. 8 procedural vote on a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of money that can be donated to campaigns, a measure that´s likely more about curbing donations to conservative candidates than it is about about cleaning up politics. Meanwhile, the U.S.-Mexico border is being overrun by thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors and lawmakers have yet to come up with a solution to the growing humanitarian crisis. Think about it: Just before Senate business ended Friday, with roughly 100 lawmakers skipping town to return to their home districts for the five-week

BOSTON - Massachusetts lawmakers on Friday tightened the state´s already strict gun laws by passing a measure that gives police chiefs authority to turn down a resident´s requests to buy a rifle or shotgun if they believe the person may be a danger. That seems like an awfully strong word, but it is the term that distinguished law professor Glenn Reynolds, no hysteric, uses to describe the Obama administration’s oft-reported plan to issue executive amnesty to five or six million illegal immigrants in violation of federal law. Glenn’s characterization is a fair one. When a tyrant asserts the right to rule by decree in a state that has formerly been subject to the rule of law, he is commonly described as carrying out a coup d’etat. That is just what the Obama administration has done, and reportedly will continue to do. When Obama changed

Nobody could explain why black Americans, particularly black gay men, had such high rates of HIV infection compared to the rest of the population. How were they putting themselves in so much danger? What were they doing differently from everyone else? Millett began with a survey of the published research, but that only seemed to raise more questions. Study after study seemed to arrive at the same conclusion: Black gay men take fewer risks in the

The obsession by the Obama-Kerry administration with imposing a cease-fire on the warring parties in the Hamas-Israel war will go down in history as one of the most strategic mistakes in military history. Here is a fact the administration deliberately and maliciously ignored: In the history of modern warfare, no terrorist group has ever honored a cease-fire. Hamas has broken every cease-fire it ever said it would honor. Every single one. Even the Israel-Hamas 2012 cease fire, brokered by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was simply agreed to by Hamas to give it an opportunity to restock its military arsenal, pressure Israel

Many of the eight million sign-ups in Obamacare exchanges nationwide already face more limited choices for physicians and hospitals than those in the private insurance market. But with low physician reimbursement rates, the problem could get even worse. For a typical quick patient visit, Dr. Doug Gerard, a Connecticut internist, told NPR a private insurer would pay $100 while Medicare would pay around $80.
