Walter Russell Mead wonders if we are living in the shadow of another great war. In his piece “Have We Gone From a Post-War to a Pre-War World?” he concludes our comforting margins of peace are evaporating at an alarming rate. Could we run out? (Snip) But Andrew Klavan is convinced of one thing: if some great conflict breaks out, it won’t result from some dark plot hatched in Washington. Some seventy million voters stuck the USA with a leader who has no capacity for leadership, whose every policy is a failure. Can he of the middle finger rampant be shamed out of office? One wishes it were possible.

The Sorceror´s Apprentice metaphor is quite astute. His behavior gives him away. It´s why he plays pool and drinks beer with a crisis on the border. He just created the mess, he doesn´t know how to fix it.

I totally agree with Mr. Fernandez. The "Evil Genius" tag that many have placed on Obama is getting torn apart a little more every day, by the putz himself. Five and a half years is more than sufficient time to destroy America if you hold the position of top dog. Barry the Bungler has made little more than a large dent in our fender.

The man who brought the Ebola virus to Nigeria probably knew he was infected. (Snip) The received Western wisdom is that an Ebola epidemic is best controlled by quarantine and contact monitoring. You know, with isolation wards and databases and non-available disposable protective clothing in 110 degree heat. In a word, through a program of action which Africa is singularly unable to carry out. African officialdom lives by lies, faking documents and jumping the queue. Like some American political parties, that is how they handle crisis. That’s how they’ll handle this one.

In an interview with the New Yorker’s David Remnick in January, President Obama dismissed ISIS as the “jayvee”: "The analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant." Yesterday, with much of Iraq now in the jayvee’s hands, Obama finally recognized it as enough of a threat to warrant the authorization of U.S. military action. Sort of: "To stop the advance on Irbil, I directed our military to take targeted strikes against ISIL terrorist convoys should they move towards the city." What is

The Obama administration has reached what one might call the ‘Pol Pot Aftermath’ of its Middle Eastern policy. George Packer describes the travails of his friend Karim, who “spent years working for the U.S. Army in his area, then for an American medical charity. Two Clearwater men who had a marijuana plant sticking out of their car window were arrested by detectives, police said. The men were in a 2008 Pontiac G6 at Ottawa Road and South Lake Avenue during the early morning of July 24. Police called the vehicle suspicious. It had dark tinted windows and the headlights were off, police said. The detectives´ marked cruiser watched the car for about a mile and pulled it over on the 1300 block of Boyland Avenue. Inside were the driver, 19-year-old Allen Thomas Barnes, and a front-seat passenger, 20-year-old Justin J. Goodloe, police said. Protruding

The after dinner entertainment at one Shi’ite leader’s home, according to Jacob Siegel of the Daily Beast, consisted a torture video taken by one of the new members of his militia, the so-called “Peace Brigades”. First, the U.S. humanitarian mission on Mount Sinjar began Thursday with airdrops by military aircraft, but it could require targeted airstrikes in order to “break the siege” at the base of the mountain and
