White House’s ‘Bubble’?

Happening Now’s Martha MacCallum and National Review editor Jonah Goldberg considered a photo tweeted yesterday of President Barack Obama and Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper playing a game of billiards, and agreed it presented terrible optics given Obama’s decision not to go to the border during his upcoming trip to Texas. “This is a sign that the bubble around the White House is much thicker than people think,” Goldberg said. “Obama’s always liked to cultivate the idea of the ‘No Drama Obama.’ Maybe they think this shows him as an every-man kind of thing.”

Memo to President Obama: You should have made Hillary your vice president back in 2008. She was the obvious choice. But you believed you were strong enough without her, and worried that Bill would be impossible to control. Big mistake. If Hillary were veep, she’d be inside the tent even now, biting her lip. Instead, she took her leave, wrote her book and is now taking aim — at you. Hillary Clinton was and is your enemy. She says she’s your friend, but that’s what Iago told Othello.

I recently watched the new program "Manhattan" which is about the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico that gave us the atom bomb. A young physicist arriving at the site is introduced to the project as being ´Shangri-La´ and having the ´highest combined IQ than any town in the country, and more Jews in Babylon." When it comes to science, it is no secret that most believe that Jews are overwhelmingly intelligent. But when it comes to politics, that percentage dwindles considerably for so many still vote for Democrats who are not friends of Israel.

On June 29, 2011, John Brennan, who was then a senior adviser to the president and is currently the CIA director, explained the Obama administration’s counterterrorism strategy. “Our strategy is…shaped by a deeper understanding of al Qaeda’s goals, strategy, and tactics,” Brennan claimed. “I’m not talking about al Qaeda’s grandiose vision of global domination through a violent Islamic caliphate. That vision is absurd, and we are not going to organize our counterterrorism policies against a feckless delusion that is never going to happen. We are not going to elevate these thugs and their murderous aspirations into something larger than they are.”

The lights of their towns, controlled by jihadists, twinkle beneath them in the moonlight. The people of the mountain can see their towns and villages, and the headlights of the jihadi patrols snaking through the streets they have abandoned, and know they cannot return. Small campfires light up the side of the mountain, stretching towards the Syrian border just visible in the distance, where the Yazidis eke out their lives in a desperate search for sleep, food and water. Round the campfires a bedraggled spectacle of humanity sit making tea in empty bean cans torn in half, one of the few luxuries

Recently, Pope Francis declared that “the persecution of Christians today is even greater than in the first centuries of the church, and there are more Christian martyrs today than in that era.” The slaughter of as many as 500,000 Christians in South Sudan since 2011 may not have received the attention it deserved. However, now the religious cleansing of Christians in Iraq resulting from Islamic jihadists’ conquest of lands Christians had called home since the first centuries A.D. cannot be ignored. In a region where Christians and Muslims had previously lived in relative peace side by side for centuries, the past 10

Iraq: Yazidi children rescued from Mount

Footage has emerged of Iraqi and Kurdish forces rescuing children from Mount Sinjar in Iraq after they had fled militants from the Islamic State group. The video provider, Steven Nabil, had direct contact with the source of the footage, ´AJK´, who supplied the material on condition that they remain anonymous. The children were flown from Sinjar mountain, where a helicopter had been delivering aid to thousands of minority Yazidis who have been stranded on a scorching mountaintop since the Islamic militants seized Sinjar, near the Syrian border, last week. They were then taken to Zakho in the self-declared autonomous Iraqi Kurdish region.

On the mountain, the rumours from their relatives only added to the sense of panic and despair. One man, the only news reporter on Mount Sinjar, told me that jihadists had stormed through his village, killing every adult, healthy male. Others talked of hundreds of women being

The chief accusation, heard time and again, is that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have either been cavalier about civilian casualties or are intentionally inflicting them. Israel and its defenders, for their part, have been at pains to point out the great lengths the IDF has gone to avoid injuring civilians, while at the same time noting the innumerable ways in which Hamas has violated the laws of war. The debate over these matters has been almost as intense as the fighting itself. All too often,

It’s official: Obamaism is dead. Hillary Clinton killed it. It wasn’t so much a mercy killing as an expedient one, but that’s politics in the best sense. The important thing is that she broke the Democratic omertà code by stating the obvious: The president’s policy of having America sit on the sidelines of a burning world is a disaster that threatens our national security. The power of her argument is confirmed by a report that a testy Obama called it “horses–t” to congressional leaders. The president who spent years touting the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq suddenly has had to distance himself from that action. At the White House on Saturday morning — less than 48 hours after authorizing airstrikes against Islamist militants and humanitarian air drops to save the lives of trapped Iraqi civilians — President Obama blamed his predecessor, George W. Bush, for the absence of American troops in Iraq and rejected the assertion that he could have left a small peacekeeping force in the war-torn nation. President Obama got angry at lawmakers who suggested in a private meeting that he should have armed the Syrian rebels, calling the criticism “horseshit.” The argument that America should have done more in Syria, made for years by foreign policy leaders in both parties and several members of Obama’s senior national security team, was brought back to the fore this past weekend. She doesn’t name names there, but she’s been known to diverge from grassroots conservatives in these matters before. What would happen, though, if Boehner turned around and made a deal with Harry Reid on amnesty in September? One of the goals of Obama’s looming power grab over legalization is to scare Republican leaders with the thought that Latino voters will be so grateful, they’ll break even harder for Democrats in 2016. The eruption of protests and violence has been a long time coming. While I certainly do not condone rioting, examining the conditions surrounding Brown’s death — and the deaths of several other unarmed black men killed by law enforcement recently — makes clear that community reactions like those in Ferguson, Mo., are bound to happen. America has continued to isolate poor black people in economically depressed neighborhoods under increasingly oppressive police tactics that breed
