Former DOJ Head and Current Labor
Secretary, Tom Perez, Says He Wants

Conservative Treehouse, by Sundance

Original Article

The irony of this statement by Tom Perez is not lost on us. You see, Tom Perez used to be the head of the Community Relations Service (CRS) within the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. We have stated for several years the CRS is filled with intensely angry leadership who advocate for aggressive, often violent, racial confrontations. To see the former head of the DOJ Anger Army proclaiming his desire for violence against Republicans is, well, just typical. WASHINGTON — When members of Congress suggest unemployed Americans aren’t trying hard enough to get jobs, U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez

Pat Bowlen, the Denver Broncos owner who won two Super Bowls and oversaw one of the NFL´s most consistently competitive franchises, has given up control of the team to continue his battle of Alzheimer´s disease. The Denver Post first reported the story early Wednesday morning. "As many in the Denver community and around the National Football League have speculated, my husband, Pat, has very bravely and quietly battled Alzheimer´s disease for the last few years," Annabel Bowlen said in a statement released through the Broncos. Posters went up Monday night all over Hollywood around Rhimes´s Hancock Park home and the Sunset Gower Studios

HOYLAKE, England – Tiger Woods drove away from Royal Liverpool Golf Club an hour before leader Rory McIlroy teed off Sunday in the final round of the 143rd British Open, another disappointing result in a major championship in his wake. After a promising 69 in the first round, the former world No. 1´s wheels spun out of control as he looked – and then sounded – very much like the man who needed much more time to get ready following back surgery March 31. JERUSALEM — Hamas militants intensified their attacks on Israeli forces Saturday, killing two soldiers on Israeli soil and attacking others with antitank missiles, machine guns, even an explosives-laden donkey, apparently undaunted by Israel’s incursion into the Gaza Strip. As the conflict stretched into its 12th day, the militants’ resilience seemed to upend the narrative provided by Israel of a Hamas severely weakened by the Israeli ground offensive, airstrikes, artillery barrages and the ongoing destruction of its tunnel network. In their most audacious attack Saturday, Hamas fighters dressed in Israeli army uniforms slipped from central Gaza into Israel through a tunnel and attacked

ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. — The Obama administration is reopening the Eastern Seaboard to offshore oil and gas exploration, announcing final approval Friday of sonic cannons that can pinpoint energy deposits deep beneath the ocean floor. The decision promises to create plenty of jobs and thrills the oil industry, but dismays environmentalists worried about the immediate impact as well as the long-term implications of oil development. The cannons fill waters shared by whales and turtles with sound waves 100 times louder than a jet engine. Saving endangered species was the environmental groups´ best hope of extending a ban against offshore drilling off

In scandal after scandal in the Obama administration, President Obama has said he didn’t know about the problems until he heard it on the news. President Obama told Democratic donors Wednesday night that most Americans don’t have time to think about the details of the Benghazi terrorist attack or the problems with Obamacare. Speaking at a fundraiser at the Los Angeles home of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes, the president took his usual shots at the Republican Party, suggesting its members are focused on the wrong issues and frequently “obfuscate and they bamboozle and sometimes don’t say what’s true.” And because people are not familiar with the intricacies of many public-policy issues, Republicans can get away with such obfuscation, he said. “The Republican

In a potentially crippling blow to Obamacare, a federal appeals court panel declared Tuesday that government subsidies worth billions of dollars that helped 4.7 million people buy insurance on HealthCare.gov are illegal. The 2-1 ruling said such subsidies can be granted only to people who bought insurance in an Obamacare exchange run by an individual state or the District of Columbia—not on the federally run exchange HealthCare.gov. "Section 36B plainly makes subsidies available in the Exchanges established by states," wrote Senior Circuit Judge Raymond Randolph in his majority opinion, where he was joined by Judge Thomas Griffith. The NAACP Legal Defense Fund has filed a class action lawsuit against the city of Detroit for water shutoffs that members claim are racially motivated. The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department stopped service to about 7,200 buildings with overdue bills in June, compared to 1,570 in the same month last year. The issue gained national attention last month after activists appealed to the United Nations for help. The shutoffs are “being done in a discriminatory fashion,” the NAACP’s Veronica Joice told a local CBS affiliate. “They should at least take a look at whether there’s a better way to do this that doesn’t affect the most vulnerable citizens

On Saturday, more than 200 volunteers spread out across Vermont for the annual loon survey. The results of the survey are trickling in, but Eric Hanson of the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and the coordinator of the Vermont Loon Conservation Project, said there are many more birds now than just a few years ago. He said 15 years ago there were around 100 loons. In 1983, biologists counted only 29. "It is a decent, stable population. I'm hoping that actually things do start to level out.
