After 101 days in Mexican prison, Marine
Sgt. Tahmooressi to get day in court

On his 101st day in captivity in Mexico, Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi will finally get his day in court Wednesday before a federal judge in Tijuana. Because of delays prompted by both Mexico´s unpredictable legal system and Tahmooressi´s trouble settling on a lawyer, the hearing will be the first time a judge gets to hear directly from the 26-year-old veteran of two tours in Afghanistan. Although his new lawyer is urging caution, Tahmooressi´s mother said the family hopes federal Judge Victor Octavio Luna Escobedo will free him. "Andrew expressed his hope to be released on Wednesday as the judge will

My husband and I were called to exchange our cruise for an all inclusive in Mexico. Mexico tourism is hurting. I told them that Mexico will NOT receive one penny of my money and don´t call again. I will not purchase any produce from Mexico...let it rot on the shelve.

It will be interesting to see if the POTUS goes on vacation, leaving this Marine in a Mexican prison.

Will someone please remind Obama he has a phone and a pen...

Sgt. Tahmooressi is the ONLY person in the entire world not allowed to cross the US-Mexican border in a northerly direction.

a few thoughts: 1. He should have said he was importing guns into Mexico as part of Fast and Furious. If only to see the reaction of the left, this would have been funny.

2. It has been my opinion that he will continue to be held until the ransom is paid. When the authorities detaining him realize that he has been abandoned by Obama/Holder, they will let him go. How long does it take for them to see the light? Probably another year.

There is no better example of the pathetic mess that is appeasement than looking at what Obama is doing at the southern border, including the corrupt persecution of Sgt. Tahmooressi.

To the Democrats, Sgt. Tahmooressi has the following problems:

He is a man.
He is a proven brave and functional man.
He chose his race poorly.
He owns guns.
Probable Republican/patriot.

...so they will only grudgingly do anything to help him.

Jeff Bridges is, unsurprisingly, not planning on running for Senate, despite calls to draft him into the race. Luckily, there are a few people, including a rancher and a high school math teacher, running to fill the recently opened spot. Montana Democrats have been in the market for a credible senate candidate ever since Sen. John Walsh dropped out of the race last week, following revelations that he´d plagiarized his masters thesis. Lizabeth Pratt, a Montana businesswoman and former acquaintance of the Bridges (who also own a home in the state) launched a petition for the Dude´s run on Change.org last

Losing Robin Williams hurts. Many millions of people loved him wholeheartedly. Others saw him as brilliant but a little too earnest, which now seems like a lovely offense. So the pain is widespread. It makes sense that we are talking about it in the media and on the Internet. But it is also a real problem. Mass celebrations of people who kill themselves, even beloved people, can send the wrong message and influence others toward hurting themselves. In recent decades, there have been many sociological studies that demonstrate what’s called suicidal modeling. A suicide at a school can lead to a spate of

Gabriel Bitran, 69, who taught at MIT for 35 years and served as deputy dean at the Sloan School of Business for five, allegedly lied to clients about the return on investments his hedge fund GMB Capital Partners was delivering. His son Marco Bitran, 39, a Harvard MBA, will also plead guilty to the same charges, said U.S. District Attorney Carmen Ortiz. The Bitrans falsely told clients that their hedge fund was delivering annual returns between 16% and 23%,

A man with a rare disease has shown scientists that there might be a different way to try to halt the devastating damage of Alzheimer´s disease. A mutation of the apolipoprotein E gene (apoE4) has been shown to raise the chances of developing the memory-robbing condition, and experts have wondered how dangerous it would be to treat the patients by eliminating the protein from the brain. Now, researchers report, the answer might lie in the unusual case of an ill man whose body doesn´t produce the protein at all. While the man has a variety of medical problems linked to a rare

NEW YORK -- Lauren Bacall had one of those incredible lives. The wife and co-star of Humphrey Bogart. A Tony Award-winning actress. A National Book Award-winning author. A giant of fashion. A friend of the Kennedys. One of the last survivors of Hollywood´s studio age. A star almost from the moment she appeared on screen to the day she died, Tuesday, at age 89, at a New York City hospital. "Stardom isn´t a career," Bacall once observed, "it´s an accident." What a lucky accident it turned out to be. Her career was one of great achievement and some frustration. The actress received a Golden Globe

On a pleasant Saturday this summer, Eric Holder, his daughters, their boyfriends and two security officers boarded a government-owned Gulfstream and jetted off to New York for the Belmont Stakes Thoroughbred horse race. Even for personal trips like this, the attorney general doesn’t fly commercial. For security reasons, Holder — like other top government officials — flies a government plane, though is required to reimburse taxpayers for airfare. According to records obtained by The Daily Caller through a Freedom of Information Act request, Holder is getting pretty good deal here — especially when he flies a government-owned Gulfstream V jet. Hillary Clinton’s recent efforts to distance herself from President Obama’s foreign policy may be generating a lot of attention, but nothing she is now saying about foreign policy will matter in the future. If history has taught us anything, especially when it comes to foreign policy, it’s that Clinton doesn’t have positions — she has positioning. When she wanted to appear tough on national security in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, Clinton happily voted in favor of authorizing President George W. Bush to launch a war against Iraq. But once opinion of the war turned sour – especially within the

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Thom Tillis thought his last day as Speaker of the North Carolina House would be weeks ago, after which he would devote all his energies to running for the U.S. Senate. Instead, on Saturday morning, August 2, Tillis stood gavel in hand in the state House chamber, presiding over the passage of a budget that kept lawmakers at work well into the summer. Now, finally, he is finished -- unless something else comes up to demand his time at the State Legislative Building. The president who spent years touting the withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq suddenly has had to distance himself from that action. At the White House on Saturday morning — less than 48 hours after authorizing airstrikes against Islamist militants and humanitarian air drops to save the lives of trapped Iraqi civilians — President Obama blamed his predecessor, George W. President Obama must really be teed off. Hillary Rodham Clinton, his once-loyal secretary of state and his likeliest successor, has gone rogue, criticizing his foreign policy as too timid. Obama responded with not one but two rounds of golf.
