Don’t Look for Congress to Rubber

ABC News, by Jeff Zeleny & Arlette Saenz

There’s no shortage of criticism on Capitol Hill over how President Obama has handled the escalating humanitarian crisis at the border, but don’t look for Congress to simply rubber stamp his $3.7 billion emergency spending request. The concerns are not only coming from Republicans. Democrats have as many questions of their own over the White House proposal. “It’s something we have to do. It’s something we have to do,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters today. “How we get there, I really don’t know at this stage.” Details of Obama’s Border Funding Request Surge of Children Crossing Border Alone

They have already rubber stamped it because the last "debt Ceiling" crisis cave in had no dollar amount cap but a time limit on the endless spending and borrowing. The only question here is why is there this request for extra money if not to add this to the baseline budget permanently. I see the next posting tells us that the government knows it wasted 100 Billion in improper payments. Why not use a small portion of that waste fraud and abuse? There are auditors all over taxpayers to get every penny out of them but no restraint at all on the spending side. When you abolish the IRS send all the unemployed auditors over to clamp down on the spending side. Everything should work out just fine and the government would not be bankrupting all the citizens!

All the money (except for a carve out to blackmail Pubbies into voting for it) goes to illegals in the form of more judges, more lawyers, more housing, etc., etc. Zero, nada, zilch goes for border enforcement. Are you surprised?

Calling the invasion of our southern border a "humanitarisn crisis" is like calling the War of Northern Aggression a Civil War.

Congress is as corrupt as Obama is. They have REWARDED Obama on nearly ever lawless act......thus aiding him in the take down of USA. I don´t hold out much hope with the lawless Republicans who are in leadership now.

Fox News poll: GOP has advantage

American voters disagree with President Obama that the economy is in better shape today than in 2008. Most are unhappy with ObamaCare. And optimism about the future of the country is down. With only 54 days until Election Day, these sentiments are pretty well baked into the cake -- boosting Republican candidates in a new Fox News poll. The poll, released Thursday, also shows that nearly as many people say their household income has gone down as say it has gone up during Obama’s presidency (36 percent gone down vs. 42 percent gone up). By a 14 percentage-point margin, those in

A majority of the Palin family — Sarah, Todd, Bristol, and Track — was allegedly involved in a booze-filled brawl over the weekend in which the former vice presidential candidate reportedly screamed, “Don’t you know who I am?” According to reports from local bloggers, the Palin crew showed up at a party in Wasilla following a day at the Iron Dog snowmobile race. According to local blogger Amanda Coyne, witnesses at the scene said Palin’s eldest son, Track, showed up to the party in a stretch Hummer. The Department of Energy Wednesday granted approval for two facilities in Louisiana and Florida to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to nearly any country. The Carib Energy plant in Martin County, Fla., has been granted a license to export 40 million cubic feet a day. The DOE is legally obligated to review every application to export LNG to countries with which the United States does not have a free-trade agreement, to determine whether the

U.S. Army sociologists are worried that a lack of black officers leading its combat troops will have detrimental effect on minorities and lead to fewer black officers in top leadership posts. “The issue exists. The leadership is aware of it,” Brig. Gen. Ronald Lewis toldUSA Today on Thursday. “The leadership does have an action plan in place. And it’s complicated.” The Army reports that only 10 percent of its active-duty officers are black, which has contributed to its dearth of black officers leading soldiers with occupational specialties in infantry, armor and artillery. “It certainly is a problem for several reasons,” Col. It was a brawl in the family for the Palin clan. In February 2012, a young, beefy Egyptian named Islam Yaken took a shirtless selfie and posted it on a Facebook competitor called Vk.com. The picture wouldn’t have attracted much attention outside his circle of Cairo friends, were it not for the photos of himself he tweeted two years later. In that time, the Wahlberg wannabe with tidy, cropped hair had transmogrified into a bushy-haired hipster with heavy-rimmed glasses—who had gone to fight for ISIS. It was an event that will be remembered for the courageous heroism of some, and the feckless self-centeredness of others. Thirteen years after the terror attacks on September 11, 2001 claimed nearly 3,000 American lives, the group responsible for those attacks, al Qaeda, is a shadow of its former self, analysts say - but that doesn´t mean the U.S. can afford to rest easy, given a host of emerging threats ready to take up the jihadist banner. Even as the U.S. has battered al Qaeda´s core, killing 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011 and keeping the heat on the group with drone strikes and other military operations across the near-East, the United States faces what some would

As we suspected, President Obama tried in his Wednesday-night speech to make it sound like he was doing something new when he, in fact, he is not. Moreover, in describing his response, he made plain that he doesn’t take the threat to the homeland seriously. For a threat his advisers say is greater than that posed by al-Qaeda after 2001, he proposed measures suitable for Yemen and Somalia. No, really — that’s the plan. For starters, the president doesn’t believe the Islamic State is a current threat to the U.S.: “So ISIL poses a threat to the people of Iraq

Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. A CNN poll earlier this week found that just 30 percent of voters thought Obama had presented a clear plan for fighting the Islamic State. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true. Throughout his presidency, President Obama has emphasized one point while talking about Islamist extremists: They are not practicing Islam, he has said, they are perverting it. He took that a step further Wednesday night. While announcing that he´s expanding the campaign against the Islamic State extremist group into Syria, Obama said flatly that this group, which is trying to install a caliphate in the Middle East, "is not Islamic." He didn´t say they are perverting their religion; he said they´re not even part of that religion. Obama did not describe his authorization of direct military action to defeat the Islamic State terror group as a conventional war.
