Democrats Draft Bill to Override
Contraception Ruling

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

How is it going to make it to the Senate (from the House) if the House votes it down? More NYT wishful thinking? In passing they mention it has to make it out of the house. Fat chance.

If the Dems think this will improve their chances for the Fall elections, they might want to read the polls that show that 60% of those polled are in favor of the SCOTUS decision.

I think they are just spinning their wheels and this won´t go anywhere.

No chance of passing. But great propaganda for the brain-dead masses.

The not-so-secret weapon the Demon-RATS have is the MSM. They will make sure and follow the Demon-RAT script about this being more "war on women" by the Republicans, and blare it over and over again until the election in November.

I don´t see how the Republicans have any chance to win any elections when we are battling both the Demon-RATs and the MSM in every election...

The dumb thing about this is if passed, it would just make companies not provide any coverage and pay the fine. And then, women will be deprived of ALL coverage from their employer.

Democrats really are stupid, just pandering to their lo-info base.

NYT, go back and read the ruling!

SCOTUS ruled [as Hobby Lobby petitioned] only on the four "morning after" procedures, abortifacients, not on contraceptives.

Does truth matter...

Hobby Lobby wasn´t about contraception, it was about just those 4 that would prevent a fertilized egg from implanting post conception. The USSC held that small for-profits met the criteria on individuals and their religious conviction were infringed by Kathleen Sebelius´ mandated coverage for those 4. The test required by RFRA stipulates that only the least onerous approach could be used to meet the government requirement. They specific listed the accommodation for non-profits as less onerous approach.

# 15 that´s just the problem. These activists are left over 60´s free love brain washed. They believe they are on the side lines merely because they lack free birth control not because they are too old to need the coverage.
They are using the current generation as their excuse and their hatred of real men makes them hold on to old rose colored aura.

Correct # 18. I have the Medicare drug program and they don´t pay anything on ED drugs.

Does Obamacare pay for Cialis or Viagra.? If they pay for birth control drugs they should also pay for ED drugs as they are helping a medical problem. Birth control is per se a medical problem.

The left doesn´t really care about women´s health. They just want to grind abortion into Christians´ faces.

Since when is it mandatory for any business to provide health insurance for employees? Since when is it any business´s responsibility to provide health insurance of any kind for employees?

It´s not an employee´s god given right to have health insurance given to them by any employer, or any part of a health insurance package or life insurance or auto insurance or fire or flood or theft or maintaining a socialist way of life, particularly maintaining a socialist way of life.

There is no law that requires an employer to pay for an employee´s contraceptives or abortifacients when conception occurs. There is no law that requires an employer health insurance plan to pay for abortions.

The requirement is only in the regulations written by the Obama Administration agency, Health and Human Services.

Any law the Democrats propose would not negate the RFRA. It certainly would be contrary to the First Amendment. Obama and his hey-boy, Harry Reid, will continue to control women. How long before abortions will be required like in China??????

ED is a medical/psychological condition.

Birth control pills for a medical condition are paid for. Birth control pills for contraception is not for a medical condition and shouldn´t be paid for.

Several things stood out about this article.

1. The bill, like the ACA, is originating in the Senate, not the House, once again bypassing the rule of lawmaking. All laws must originate in the House, pass, and move to the Senate. The article does state that a companion bill is going to be started in the House, but notes, it likely won´t pass. So, they are attempting to do what they do best, cheat and lie, and bypass the system because Obama is pizt!

2. No one is being denied birth control. They are being denied four methods of what Hobby Looby and other Christians feel is a way to abort a viable fertilized egg, which is considered the beginning of life.

3. The article states that "...womens´ healthcare will not be decided by five white men..." Since when does race have anything to do with the Supreme law of the land, and Constitutionality? Obama didn´t have any complaints when a white man decided to pass his "Ultimate dream law", did he?

Investigators are also scouring social media, pulling phone logs and running hundreds of license plates, police sources said. They are tracking down all calls made from the bridge around the time the flags were replaced early

The last time Republicans began running for president, there was a race to be the most confrontational, the most unbending. Mitt Romney said he was “severely conservative” and mocked the “47 percent.” Rick Perry called the Federal Reserve “treasonous.” Rick Santorum said he was “for income inequality.” What a difference a disastrous election, two years and terrible polling make. A year after news of the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, former First Lady Hillary Clinton allegedly told a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist that it was former President Bill Clinton’s abusive mother that caused his unfaithfulness and sex addiction, a new book claims. That journalist was Lucinda Franks and while her latest book, “Timeless: Love, Morgenthau, and Me,” doesn’t have much to do about the Clintons, the part that does offers never before reported information from a 1999 interview with the former First Lady. The New York Daily News obtained parts of the book a month before its scheduled August 2014 release.

While our current secretary of state John Kerry is under fire for sarcastically joking about Israel’s “pinpoint operation” in Gaza, one former secretary of state echoed those sentiments during an appearance on CNN Tuesday afternoon. Speaking to Wolf Blitzer, Madeleine Albright said she thinks Israel is “overdoing” it with its offensive into the Gaza Strip and losing some of its “moral authority” in the process. “I do think the point has to be made, if rockets are being shot at Israel, that Israel does have a right to defend itself,” Albright said. “But the bottom line is the question of proportionality.” Blitzer singled out her use of the word

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the Republican Party’s bookish former vice presidential nominee, is starting to look like a candidate for the presidency in 2016. In August, Ryan will publish a book with a distinctly campaign-themed title, The Way Forward. On Tuesday, the Federal Election Commission approved of a nationwide book tour sponsored by Ryan’s publisher and the Political Action Committee the Wisconsin congressman founded, Prosperity Action PAC. “The book will address “the state of the conservative movement in America today, discuss how it contrasts with liberal progressivism, and explain what must be done to save what Representative Ryan refers to as the

Colchester – Experts estimate there are nearly 300 adult loons living on Vermont´s lakes and ponds, up from just a couple dozen 30 years ago. On Saturday, more than 200 volunteers spread out across Vermont for the annual loon survey. The results of the survey are trickling in, but Eric Hanson of the Vermont Center for Ecostudies and the coordinator of the Vermont Loon Conservation Project, said there are many more birds now than just a few years ago. He said 15 years ago there were around 100 loons. In 1983, biologists counted only 29. "It is a decent, stable population. I'm hoping that actually things do start to level out.

The chairman of the Federal Election Commission today blasted Democratic colleagues opposed to his effort to protect conservative media after they imposed rules on the publisher of Rep. Paul Ryan´s new book, opening the door to future book regulations -- or even a ban. "By failing to affirm this publisher’s constitutional right, statutory right, to disseminate a political book free from FEC conditions and regulations, we have effectively asserted regulatory jurisdiction over a book publisher,” warned Chairman Lee E. Goodman, one of three Republicans on the six-person FEC.

Despite multiple studies showing no link between vaccines and autism, RFK Jr. continues to use his position to spread that lie. What will it take to make him stop? If you’re headed to Capitol Hill with a cause, it helps to be a Kennedy. For Robert Kennedy Jr., scion of America’s most storied political family, all it takes is his name to arrange face-to-face meetings with two powerful Senators. As a physician who has traveled to Washington, D.C., with health-care advocacy groups on a number of occasions, I envy the access he displays in a recent profile in The Washington

ST. LOUIS – The nation´s third botched execution in six months offers more evidence for the courts that lethal injection carries too many risks and amounts to cruel and unusual punishment, death-row lawyers and other opponents said Thursday. Death-penalty opponents say the execution of an Arizona inmate who took two hours to die shows that state experiments with different drugs and dosages are a callous trial-and-error process. The result: Every few months, an inmate gasps, chokes and takes an unusually long time to die. "These executions are experiments on human subjects," said Cheryl Pilate, an attorney for several Missouri death-row
