Democrats Draft Bill to Override
Contraception Ruling

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

How is it going to make it to the Senate (from the House) if the House votes it down? More NYT wishful thinking? In passing they mention it has to make it out of the house. Fat chance.

If the Dems think this will improve their chances for the Fall elections, they might want to read the polls that show that 60% of those polled are in favor of the SCOTUS decision.

I think they are just spinning their wheels and this won´t go anywhere.

No chance of passing. But great propaganda for the brain-dead masses.

The not-so-secret weapon the Demon-RATS have is the MSM. They will make sure and follow the Demon-RAT script about this being more "war on women" by the Republicans, and blare it over and over again until the election in November.

I don´t see how the Republicans have any chance to win any elections when we are battling both the Demon-RATs and the MSM in every election...

The dumb thing about this is if passed, it would just make companies not provide any coverage and pay the fine. And then, women will be deprived of ALL coverage from their employer.

Democrats really are stupid, just pandering to their lo-info base.

NYT, go back and read the ruling!

SCOTUS ruled [as Hobby Lobby petitioned] only on the four "morning after" procedures, abortifacients, not on contraceptives.

Does truth matter...

Hobby Lobby wasn´t about contraception, it was about just those 4 that would prevent a fertilized egg from implanting post conception. The USSC held that small for-profits met the criteria on individuals and their religious conviction were infringed by Kathleen Sebelius´ mandated coverage for those 4. The test required by RFRA stipulates that only the least onerous approach could be used to meet the government requirement. They specific listed the accommodation for non-profits as less onerous approach.

# 15 that´s just the problem. These activists are left over 60´s free love brain washed. They believe they are on the side lines merely because they lack free birth control not because they are too old to need the coverage.
They are using the current generation as their excuse and their hatred of real men makes them hold on to old rose colored aura.

Correct # 18. I have the Medicare drug program and they don´t pay anything on ED drugs.

Does Obamacare pay for Cialis or Viagra.? If they pay for birth control drugs they should also pay for ED drugs as they are helping a medical problem. Birth control is per se a medical problem.

The left doesn´t really care about women´s health. They just want to grind abortion into Christians´ faces.

Since when is it mandatory for any business to provide health insurance for employees? Since when is it any business´s responsibility to provide health insurance of any kind for employees?

It´s not an employee´s god given right to have health insurance given to them by any employer, or any part of a health insurance package or life insurance or auto insurance or fire or flood or theft or maintaining a socialist way of life, particularly maintaining a socialist way of life.

There is no law that requires an employer to pay for an employee´s contraceptives or abortifacients when conception occurs. There is no law that requires an employer health insurance plan to pay for abortions.

The requirement is only in the regulations written by the Obama Administration agency, Health and Human Services.

Any law the Democrats propose would not negate the RFRA. It certainly would be contrary to the First Amendment. Obama and his hey-boy, Harry Reid, will continue to control women. How long before abortions will be required like in China??????

Birth control pills for a medical condition are paid for. Birth control pills for contraception is not for a medical condition and shouldn´t be paid for.

Several things stood out about this article.

1. The bill, like the ACA, is originating in the Senate, not the House, once again bypassing the rule of lawmaking. All laws must originate in the House, pass, and move to the Senate. The article does state that a companion bill is going to be started in the House, but notes, it likely won´t pass. So, they are attempting to do what they do best, cheat and lie, and bypass the system because Obama is pizt!

2. No one is being denied birth control. They are being denied four methods of what Hobby Looby and other Christians feel is a way to abort a viable fertilized egg, which is considered the beginning of life.

3. The article states that "...womens´ healthcare will not be decided by five white men..." Since when does race have anything to do with the Supreme law of the land, and Constitutionality? Obama didn´t have any complaints when a white man decided to pass his "Ultimate dream law", did he?

Oh, to be a fly on the wall backstage. Debbie Wasserman Schultz had an awkward task at the Democratic National Committee´s Women’s Leadership Forum on Friday. She had to have back-to-back-to-back public encounters with the leaders of her party, who gathered there a day after a scathing and deeply reported story suggested that Democrats are all but done with her as chairman. One by one, she introduced Vice President Biden, Hillary Clinton and President Obama. And it was essentially air-kisses all around. But the subtext was hard to miss, even as they praised her as the something amounting to the best

IRBIL -In the part of his Sept. 10 speech on confronting the Islamic State that probably drew the least attention, President Obama mentioned the need to help Christians and other minorities, expelled from cities and villages in northern Iraq, return from where they came. “We cannot allow these communities to be driven from their ancient homeland,” he said. Obama got that wrong. Christians, of whom around 120,000 have taken refuge in Iraqi Kurdistan, will not be going home even if their tormentors suddenly disappear. I spent 10 days talking with Christian refugees in Irbil, the capital of the northern autonomous region

Billionaire investor and entrepreneur Mark Cuban is generous with his advice. He´s talked about the keys to the perfect pitch, what it´s like to become a billionaire (while naked), and the cookies he just can´t stop eating. He has also shared some important personal-finance advice. When we asked him what he wishes he´d known about money in his 20s, he said: That credit cards are the worst investment that you can make. That the money I save on interest by not having debt is better than any return I could possibly get by investing that money in the stock market.

When President Obama took office in 2009, congressional Democrats were euphoric. With control of the House, Senate and the White House, and high public approval for their new party standard bearer, Democrats eagerly embraced Obama and all the long-awaited policy initiatives he’d surely help them achieve. In that first month, congressional Democrats mentioned Obama during floor speeches 200 or so more times than Republicans. In the next year and a half, the parties referred to the president at similar rates, sometimes with the Republicans having more to say, other times the Democrats. One can reasonably assume that when the Democrats

The military is growing more “sensitive” under the Obama administration, Pentagon observers say, by relaxing long-standing restrictions on soldiers’ religious and personal liberties. The efforts by the Defense Department to adapt to cultural change go beyond the moves to end the controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and allow women in combat. In recent weeks, the Pentagon has backed off controversial hairstyle regulations that critics said discriminated against black women and made the phrase “so help me god” optional in the oath for airmen. Earlier this year, the military loosened its rules for soldiers who want to wear turbans or

That’s how long I want to live: 75 years.” He explains that his daughters disagree; so do his brothers and his friends. But, he says, “I am sure of my position…here is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss. It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but

Congress is living in an "evidence-free zone" as it debates issues of equal pay and family-friendly work policies, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday. "Unfortunately, reality is not always the context in which these decisions are made. The Congress increasingly -- despite the best efforts of my friends and others -- is living in an evidence-free zone," she said during a roundtable discussion at the Center for American Progress focused on women´s issues. "What the reality is, in the lives of Americans is so far from the minds of too many who don´t place the highest priority" on

President Barack Obama and his daughters had just departed the White House on Friday evening when an intruder scaled the north fence, darted across the lawn and into the presidential residence, where agents nabbed him. The security breach triggered a rare evacuation of much of the White House, with Secret Service officers drawing their guns as they rushed staffers and journalists out a side door.
