Israel is laying preparations for an invasion of Gaza as its latest conflict with Hamas intensifies, it was reported on Tuesday. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, isued the orders to the Israeli army for a possible ground offensive in a three-hour meeting with defence chiefs, according to Israel´s Haaretz newspaper. "The prime minister´s instruction by the end of the meeting was to prepare for a thorough, long, continuous and strong campaign in Gaza," a senior Israeli official told Haaretz. "The prime minister instructed the army to be ready to go all in. A ground offensive is on the table."

STRATEGY

Make Hamas more of a PALESTINIAN problem than an Israeli one.

TACTICS

Every time Hamas fires into Israel, Israel takes out Electric Distribution stations.

Drop leaflets for Palestinians to ponder in the dark how they can eliminate Hamas to end the misery it inflicts. Invite them to finger the Hamas leaders and locations when they have had enough.

Move on to power plants if necessary.

Then bridges.

Make sure you put the leaders and key industrial sites in the dark first. They need to feel the pain to want to solve the problem.

Remember when the Jews had to move from the Gaza Strip and leave their homes and farms ?
All so the Palestinians could launch rockets closer to Israel.

The US is considering making aid drops to Shia Turkmen in northern Iraq who are under siege from Islamic State (IS) militants, US defence sources say. President Obama is also close to expanding US air strikes against IS after seeking support from several EU allies, according to US officials. Last week the UN said urgent action was needed to stop a massacre in Amerli. The Iraqi town is at risk of falling into the hands of IS, who now control large swathes of Iraq and Syria. The majority of Amerli´s residents are Shia Turkmen, who are seen as apostates by

Gaza has had "very negative impact" on US-Israel relations, said Martin Indyk, former US special envoy to the Middle East process, in an interview published this week. [Snip] Speaking extensively on US relations with Israel since the end of the latest round of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians last April, and throughout Operation Protective Edge, a candid Indyk said at times US President Barack Obama has become "enraged" at the Israeli government, both for its actions and for its treatment of his chief diplomat, US Secretary of State John Kerry. An IDF officer was lightly-to-moderately wounded Wednesday by apparent errant gun fire emanating from the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, where rebels and forces loyal to the Damascus regime are embroiled in a civil war. The wounded officer was airlifted to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for medical treatment. Earlier Wednesday, the IDF instructed farmers and civilians to stay away from the border with Syria on the Golan Heights after intense fighting flared between the Syrian army and rebels in the Quneitra crossing region. Explosions from the fighting in Syria were audible in the Israeli Golan Heights. The IDF said

Murmurs of dissatisfaction rose from the political Left and Right Tuesday night, after Israel agreed to a cease-fire. Meanwhile, Eshkol Regional Council chairman Haim Yellin indicated that he does not trust the cease-fire will last, saying residents of his constituency who evacuated should not return to their homes. "It doesn´t interest me what the government or Hamas say. I will only call on residents to return when I feel like there´s a real cease-fire," Yellin told Channel 10 news. An Egyptian-brokered ceasefire began at 7 p.m. (16:00 GMT) today (Tuesday), after being officially accepted by the Israeli government just minutes before. [Snip] But despite the declarations terrorists in Gaza continued to launch rocket and mortar attacks even after the ceasefire took effect. At approximately 7:05 p.m. Red Alert sirens sounded in the Gaza Belt region, followed by yet more sirens minutes later. At 7:15 p.m. more rocket sirens were sounded in the Eshkol Regional Council area, indicating a further breach of the declared ceasefire. Since then, however, there have been no further reports of rocket attacks.

It might be summarised thus: “When you are in trouble, fan the flames of Islamist extremism so that your enemies will look even worse than you.” [Snip] The rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) has apparently convinced the likes of Lord Dannatt, a former Army commander, and Sir Christopher Meyer, once our Ambassador in Washington, that we must reach an accommodation with Assad in order to suppress a common threat.

Iran yesterday upped the stakes in the Middle East crisis by pledging to speed up arming Palestinians to launch strikes on Israel. Tehran said it would “accelerate” its support for Hamas with weapons and missile-building technology after Israel allegedly deployed a spy drone over Iran. General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, said: “We will accelerate the arming of the West Bank and we reserve the right to give any response.” Iran has confirmed it supplied fighters from Hamas and the Islamic Jihad with the technology for the rockets being fired relentlessly into Israel from Gaza since July 8.
