Two drones nearly took out an NYPD chopper over the George Washington Bridge on Monday, and cops arrested the wayward crafts’ operators, law-enforcement sources told The Post. The Aviation Unit helicopter was on patrol at around 12:15?a.m. when it had to swerve to avoid the small unmanned aircrafts, the sources said. The NYPD pilots “observed flying object[s] at 2,000 feet in vicinity of the George Washington Bridge, then circling heading toward the helicopter,’’ a police report said. “The officers were forced to change their course to avoid a collision.”One source called it a “very dangerous” scenario.“Although [drones] may only weigh a

Terrorists probably already have drones. Events like these are practice. A couple of pounds of c-4 and proximity to a chopper over a bridge or park and voila. But 0bama loves drones so they stay.

Even up here 30 miles from anywhere, there was a drone hovering over our group watching the fireworks over the lake. Most of us had not even seen one before. Pretty bizarre. Sounded like a swarm of angry bees.

We are definitely entering "interesting" times...

None of this can really be controlled. The possibility now exists for millions of attackers separately and precisely targeting millions of individual targets.

Does the NYPD really need to have a chopper in the air doing routine patrol? Somebody needs to inform them that the crime is on the streets. Most police departments across the country have choppers, K-9 units, etc. because most other departments have them and because it´s only the taxpayers´ money. State police use them most often to spot marijuana patches. There´s a great use of resources.

Nothing should be flying inside the city limits or over stadiums unless it has a good reason for being there. Don´t forget, drones can also carry airborne diseases and nasty chemicals. There will be trouble from them now that we are financing terrorists as a matter of policy.

#6, the NYPD has more right to be doing routine patrol with choppers than the drones have to be in the air over NYC.

There´s a lot of waterfront, piers and bridges that should have a look-see frequently, and the best way to do that is from the air. Not to mention the things the choppers can look for that the NYPD doesn´t talk about.

On Sept. 11, 2001, the crime wasn´t in the streets. The NYPD knows that.

This is very un-PC -- but -- from the looks of the surnames, these pilots come from a group that tends to ignore the law.

Anyone I know, that flies drones, checks with and, complies with the law and regulations.

Another wondrous fall-out of the liberals love of "open boarders?"

I don´t know... what is the difference between a drone and a radio controlled toy? Sure, I know there are different levels of technological sophistication. Still, I think when one hears "drone" they automatically think of the kind that are super high tech and can carry surveillance and/or weaponry. We think of Obama and his use of drones on the terrorists and civilians. I don´t like the idea of anyone flying these things, but I also think that government will automatically outlaw anything it feels can be a threat to their power too.

I fly drones, myself. They are called Radio Control model airplanes. I have been in the hobby for more than 30 years. People who misuse any hobby can get into trouble. A man was actually killed at an R/C airplane show when one of the aircraft flew into him by accident some years ago. They can be dangerous. I was seriously injured by my airplanes when I accidentally let my had get into the spinning prop.

But, think of the consequences when a drone like the DJI Phantom (in the photo of the story) hits an airliner? and it can fly to more than 3,000 meters (10,000 feet!!) They will climb in altitude until the battery is exhausted and they can fly for as long as half an hour....some much longer.

I love flying my "drones" but people who fly their aircraft "toys" carelessly should be policed up and punished. These things can be made to hurt people and I am strongly against that, period!

I´m glad the cops caught these two morons.

Nice lecture, #10, but New York´s finest or the nation´s finest did not stop 9/11 and they won´t stop the next one either. There is just too much territory to cover and too many imaginative ways to commit acts of terror if that is the intent. If we have no border security, they already have a foot in the door.

A Canadian member of the loathed Islamic State claimed the group is plotting an attack on New York City — and will one day fly its flag over the White House. Days before Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned of terrorist plots on subways in New York City and Paris, a video emerged showing an ISIS shill named Farah Shirdon widening the scope of the threat. “God willing, we will make some attacks in New York soon,” he said in a video interview with Vice News last week. “A lot of brothers are mobilizing there right now.” He vowed that U.S.-based fighters are “mobilizing for a brilliant attack.”

Qua speech, Barack Obama’s address Wednesday on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was surprisingly terrible: a disorganized mess, insincere and unconvincing. To appreciate just how bad and bizarre it was, compare the president’s speech announcing a new air campaign in Iraq and Syria to Dwight Eisenhower’s 1958 statement on his decision to intervene in Lebanon with 14,000—14,000!—troops. The statement contains no chest-thumping about America’s leadership in science and medicine. No pivot to the auto industry and medical research. We’re being had. Again. For six years, President Obama has endeavored to will the country into accepting two pillars of his alternative national-security reality. Second, he asserts that the threat is unrelated to Islam, which is innately peaceful, moderate, and opposed to the wanton “violent extremists” who purport to act in its name. Not this time. The U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria doesn´t have a name. "I know of no plans at this point to name it," Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. Political pollsters have a tough job. They have to create formulas to determine if the person they are interviewing is likely to vote, and it is within this calculation that their reputations are made. Typically, those who are likely to vote in an off-year election are pretty set. They are the people who always vote in elections — with some motivated by specific issues. In a wave election, the number of those motivated by specific issues escalates, changing the electoral landscape as the candidates who are beneficiaries of this increased participation sweep to victory. The 2014 election is rapidly looking like something new
