What’s behind Chicago’s carnage
New York Post, by Rich Lowry

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 7/8/2014 4:37:03 AM

For most of the country, July Fourth weekend means hot dogs, fireworks and relaxing time with family. In certain neighborhoods in Chicago, it means something very different. For the second year running, Chicago saw a spate of violence over the long holiday weekend that would generate headlines if it happened in Kabul. “It’s Groundhog Day here in Chicago” is how Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy put it. This year, the tally of shame was more than 80 people shot and 14 killed. Last year, a slightly longer July Fourth weekend (the holiday fell on a Thursday) saw 75 people shot and 12 fatalities.

Not surprisingly...
"Overall, according to Chicago magazine, the rate of nonfatal gunshot injury in Chicago was 46.5 per 100,000 from 2006 to 2012. But it was only 1.62 per 100,000 for whites. For blacks, it was 112.83 per 100,000. For black males, 239.77, and for black males aged 18-34, 599.65, or “a staggering one in 200.”

Is it time for that talk about race yet, Eric Holder?

I read a suggestion on another site that we use our resources to help the refugee children in Chicago, Detroit, and other dangerous area of America instead of importing Central America´s underclass. Makes better sense to me.

Leftists and Democrat policies created Chicago, Detroit and the growing urban AND spreading blight that is turning this country into the dystopia of Mad Max and uncivilized tribalism...race is mainly an issue thanks to LBJ and his so-called "Great Society" and "War on Poverty". The left and Democrats (and other wrongly named "Progressives") purposely targeted the poor and the black community (as well as other people of color) in order to destroy people they consider inferior and undesirable (it is rooted in their belief in eugenics).

Nature vs Nurture. Liberals and progressives like to say there is no morality demanded by a higher power, that all of the civilizing attributes of western civilization are rooted in mans evolutionary need to form a functioning society.

Bollocks, and this city and others prove it. While the racial makeup of this experimental group is markedly African American makes no difference, if the ghetto was entirely populated by Scandinavians and Swiss the result would be the same.

Morality is passed from generation to generation and is re-enforced by social institutions such as the Church and effective government. If you remove the influence of generational teaching and destroy the social institutions as the Great Society did, and then replace them with a corrupt and unintelligible government morality will be set by those who have been disconnected, mostly young often angry, men.

And the morality of a population with no societal norms but strength in numbers will inevitably be violent. We used to have a name for this kind of society.

Barbarians.

That was not a PC response, #7. True but not PC.

I suggest building walls around both Detroit and Chicago and declaring them game preserves or something similar. Bullet-proof viewing windows could be spaced at intervals along the wall and the respective states could charge admission to view the inevitable results of one of our finest social experiments.

Jeff Sessions is mounting a heroic campaign to persuade Congress to block President Obama’s apparently imminent decree legalizing, in essence, five to six million illegal immigrants by granting them work permits. The Obama administration has been lawless in many ways, but this is stark illegality even by its standards. This is what the actual law says: INA Sec. 274A– Unlawful Employment of Aliens (a) Making employment of unauthorized aliens unlawful (1) In general It is unlawful for a person or other entity— (A) to hire, or to recruit or refer for a fee, for employment in the United States an alien knowing the alien is

If there is one nightmare common to all U.S. senators, it’s the possibility of an unexpected upset by an underdog challenger come Election Day. Not only do they lose their seat, but the shock of defeat becomes one of the most notable parts of their biography. This November, no one wants to be the Senate’s Eric Cantor. For my money, one of the most jaw-dropping Senate results in modern history occurred exactly 50 years ago. It’s barely remembered even by the political community, but it shouldn’t be forgotten. This old race teaches enduring lessons about politics, and in 2014 we’ll see

News of a devastating solar storm ‘just missing’ Earth in 2012 made the rounds last week. Turns out that storm was nowhere near us, and similar storms have happened before. The Universe is trying to kill us! Or at least, it’s not a very friendly place beyond the comforting confines of planet Earth. A recent study by solar physicists points out that we had a near-miss with a strong solar storm back in 2012. But how close did we really come to doom and destruction? Our Sun is fairly quiet as stars go, but it does have active times that impact us

Barack Obama’s disdain for the slow, grinding mechanisms of government has become unmistakable of late. So it is little surprise that, frustrated by congressional inaction on his proposal for “comprehensive immigration reform,” the president last month declared that he would “fix as much of our immigration system as I can on my own.” The result, intimated by White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer last week, is a “very significant” executive action to be unveiled by the end of the summer. If reports of the contents of the order are credible, not only will the action fail to “fix” America’s immigration

If an Israeli high-level official were caught on a hot mic candidly commenting on Secretary of State John Kerry’s ill-fated act of Israel-Hamas peacemaking, he might call it “a hell of a diplomatic foray.” Kerry was caught sarcastically describing the Israeli offensive into Gaza as “a hell of a pinpoint operation” during his round of Sunday-show interviews two weeks ago, before telling his aide over the phone, “We’ve got to get over there,” and “It’s crazy to be sitting around.” Kerry’s belief in himself as the Indispensable Man is touchingly quaint. ABORTION REMAINS legal in the United States, but states such as Texas are erecting legal impediments before clinics that perform the procedure. In effect, 40 years after the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade established the right to first-trimester abortion, pro-life groups and lawmakers are negating its effects. Last year, lawmakers in Texas forced through legislation that amounts to a frontal assault on the state’s abortion providers. More than 40 clinics around the state performed the procedure legally and safely when the law took effect a year ago. Today fewer than half of those clinics are still in business

As Operation Protective Edge continues in Gaza, the Jews of the European diaspora are looking about and seeing an increasingly hostile home. A pair of particularly violent outbreaks of anti-Semitism in France and the Netherlands seems to foreshadow a future conflagration fueled by moral relativism and sparked by Europe’s growing Islamic slums. Muslims spouting Sharia and jihad have no room for Israel and Jews in their future world, and post-Christian Europe offers little resistance to those who promise hate and violence. Paris’s Jews suffered attacks on three synagogues and a series of assaults and attempted fire bombings in recent weeks. Phrases

It seemed inconceivable that the American secretary of state would have drafted an initiative that, as a priority, did not require the dismantling of Hamas’s rocket arsenal and network of tunnels dug under the Israeli border. Yet the reported text did not address these issues at all, nor call for the demilitarization of Gaza.
