Pope slams Church complicity
in child sex abuse

Agence France-Presse, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/7/2014 3:45:39 PM

Vatican City - Pope Francis acknowledged Monday that the suicides of clerical sex abuse victims weigh on his conscience as he thanked victims on Monday for shining a light on the "terrible darkness" at the heart of the Catholic Church. At his long-awaited first meeting with victims, the pope reached out to the tens of thousands of people abused by priests globally, telling them he was sorry for the "grave crimes committed against you", and for the complicity of the Church in covering them up. (Snip) The meetings come amid criticism that Francis has been slow to deal with the paedophile scandals which have hugely damaged the Church.

Comments:
This is a very good thing for my Catholic Church and by his speaking openly, sends a clear message of zero tolerance to those clergy down the line.

Good - well done - lets see how the secular authorities do with this guy. He was filmed picking up boys on the streets of Santo Domingo by a local TV station. They interviewed one of the boys who shared a lot of detail.

FACT #1: Over 98% of Catholic priests are and remain celibate according to their vows.
FACT #1" A large majority of so-called pedophilia attributed to the few priests who strayed was homosexual behavior and had nothing to do with male/female behavior.
FACT #3: The Mainstream media ignores #1 and #2.

I sometimes sense - and it is subtle - that Pope Francis wishes to be compared to John Paul and Benedict, and he wants always to come out of the comparisons as being ´more than´ either of them. Both John Paul and Benedict did enormously important work in cleaning up the mess of the priest´s scandal, especially by cleaning up the loose standards in some seminaries. Benedict met with victims, but it was never publicized. I am sure that John Paul did as well.

What poster #3 said is true, and I don´t mean to be rude, but Francis should be more careful about his appointments, especially to the Vatican Bank; which is, in itself, a scandal.

So Pope, WHEN are the HANGINGS of all the priests and Bishops and higher up´s that allowed this to not only continue but HID the whole mess?

I know a person abused and he´s pretty messed up an an adult...I´ve been trying to get him to file charges but he won´t, seems he´s afraid of the stigma.

The priest that accosted him was just moved around by the sitting Archbishop. Sad thing the Archbishop was revered by the community who had NO idea what he was doing behind the scenes...

I suspect this same scenario played out all over the world. I say Find all involved and ;
1. excommunicate them all
2. Hang them next!
The church is it´s own govt., right, so who is going to mete our justice?

"Cardinal" Law is not the only cleric guilty of covering up this outrage who continues to go unpunished still holding positions in the church. Talk. That´s all this continues to be. This Pope appears to just bring us more of the same. A great disappointment.

Correction: An earlier version of this post mislabeled the second-largest spending category on children. It is childcare and education. It will cost an average middle-income family nearly a quarter-million dollars to raise a child in 2013 to adulthood. Food, housing, childcare, education and other expenses will total $245,340 by the time the child turns 18, the Department of Agriculture estimates in a new report. That is a 1.8 percent increase over the year before. In 2013 alone, the cost of caring for a child ranges from $12,800 to $14,970. The report relies on data from the Labor Department’s Consumer Expenditure Survey,

Before he was shot and killed, Michael Brown allegedly bum rushed officer Darren Wilson multiple times, punched him in the face, grabbed his gun and caused it to discharge, and even taunted Wilson, saying, "You´re not going to shoot me," according to a woman who claims to know Wilson´s significant other. Last week, "Josie" called into KFTK NewsTalk 97.1 and said Wilson allegedly thought Brown was "on something" and felt Brown´s actions were "unbelievable." CNN has since reported that her recollection matches what Wilson told police after the incident. "Josie" told host Dana Loesch that Wilson´s "significant other told me"

Not all Benjamins are created equal. For the first time ever, the federal government this year introduced a data series that compares price differences among states and metropolitan areas. That measure — regional price parities — offers something simple and immensely useful for anyone considering making a move: It allows you to compare how far your money goes in each state. We covered the implications — how you might use the data to compare income or rent in one state with another — when the Bureau of Economic Analysis released it in April, and today the Tax Foundation published the following map based on the same data to show

The 19 percent of American voters who think most members deserve re-election is lower than the 38 percent figure in 1994 and 33 percent figure in 2010 — two midterm elections that saw huge shakeups in Congress but, as Gallup points out, two years where Democrats had controlled both the U.S. House and the Senate. They say a prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich, and this always seemed like hyperbole, until Friday night a Texas grand jury announced an indictment of governor Rick Perry. The “crime” for which Perry faces a sentence of 5 to 99 years in prison is vetoing funding for a state agency. The conventions of reporting — which treat the fact of an indictment as the primary news, and its merit as a secondary analytic question — make it difficult for people reading the news to grasp just how farfetched this indictment is. The Obama administration has done little to calm racial tensions as they spread from Manhattan to St. Louis to Los Angeles. Quite the opposite, some top officials have fueled African-American fears of racism with false accusations of anti-black discrimination. Attorney General Eric Holder’s race-baiting is no secret. Justice Department documents show the nation’s top cop gave thousands of dollars to help the Rev. Al Sharpton organize marches protesting the death of Trayvon Martin. Now he’s sent the civil-rights unit to St. Louis to do the same thing in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. Less known, however, is the role of Labor Secretary Thomas
