Float targeting Obama, library

NORFOLK, Neb. — A float comparing President Barack Obama´s future presidential library to an outhouse has drawn criticism from some after it appeared in the Fourth of July parade in Norfolk. It featured a wooden outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" and a figure in overalls standing outside the structure. "I´m angry and I´m scared," Norfolk resident Glory Kathurima told the Lincoln Journal Star. "The float was not just political; this was absolutely a racial statement." Kathurima, an immigrant from Kenya, is raising her 9-year-old daughter in the northeast Nebraska community of roughly 24,000. Parade organizers with the local Odd Fellows lodge

Comments:
I think it´s funny. The Native Bray of the Heartland, as Tom Wolfe might put it. Most popular float in the parade.

So now an outhouse is racist!

I´d bet that if Bambi was portrayed as the MGM lion, someone would yell "racism" because blacks are not naturally blonde!

If you are racist - everything you see has a racial overtone.

If you´re not racist - this is really funny and imaginative.

The "float" was in phenomenally bad taste, it wasn´t racist. Not everything that is in bad taste is racist. The parade´s organizers will review the rules for next year´s parade. That is an appropriate solution. This is a small town on the plains, it is not the same out here as it is in the big cities of the East.

If the gentleman from Kenya is having trouble explaining the float to his daughter that´s probably because he doesn´t understand it himself, so here´s a suggestion.

"Lots of people think Obama´s policies are awful, hence the outhouse."

In the big cities of the east the folks are less tolerant and rude is racist from the right and everything is racist from the left.

Take a look at the "Children as tools for immigration" program, and Riot Squads to stop those who don´t want illegal aliens pouring into their neighborhoods. After all those people want the law obeyed so it requires a riot squad to get those law abiding people under control, right?

Could be also that the lady from Kenya has never seen nor used one of these "signs of civilization" in rural society.

When Russian President Vladimir Putin began referring to portions of Ukraine by their Tsarist-era name, Novorossiya, Russia hands expressed alarm. They noted that Putin could have designs on the entirety of Southern Ukraine, linking Russia to the portion of Moldova known as Transnistria, an area which has been under Russian occupation for years and is already a de facto Russian

Opposition presidential candidate Marina Silva said that Brazil´s recession is very worrying and her government would work to restore the credibility of the country´s economic policies to recover investment and growth if elected. The Brazilian economy fell into recession in the first half of the year, a heavy blow for President Dilma Rousseff´s already diminishing hopes of winning re-election in October. Silva said she would limit increases in public spending to below the growth rate of the economy, and restore transparency to government accounts by setting up a fiscal responsibility council to oversee its expenditures. “We will be transparent. When Congress passed the Affordable Care Act, it required health insurers, hospitals, device makers and pharmaceutical companies to share in the cost because they would get a windfall of new, paying customers. But with an $8 billion tax on insurers due Sept. 30 — the first time the new tax is being collected — the industry is getting help from an unlikely source: taxpayers. States and the federal government will spend at least $700 million this year to pay the tax for their Medicaid health plans. The divided House and Senate have managed to pass just 163 laws that garnered President Obama’s signature since the two-year term began in January 2013. At this rate, Congress will have no problem beating the previous record set during the 2011-2013 session in which 284 laws were passed. That was down from 385 laws passed in the 2009-2011 session.
