EXCLUSIVE - ´She can do better´: Amal
Alamuddin´s mother is unimpressed with
George Clooney and wants daughter to marry
within their strict Lebanese religious sect

Daily Mail [UK], by Hannah Roberts & Sara Nathan

Most mothers would be shouting from the rooftops if their daughter snagged George Clooney. But the mom of Clooney´s fiancée, Amal Alamuddin, is not so impressed with her daughter’s choice - and instead wanted her to marry within their strict Lebanese religious sect, according to close family friends. High-profile human-rights lawyer Amal, 37, was born in Beirut to a prominent and highly respected family within the Druze sect, a medieval offshoot of Islam, who are forbidden to marry outsiders. For traditional Druze families intermarriage results in excommunication and social boycott.

Oh no! Is there trouble in paradise? I don´t know, looking at that woman and knowing her radical ideology Clooney seems like a perfect fit.

Another "alliance" like Obie´s and Mooch´s.

But this is pretty funny. A Clooney smackdown.

I enjoy a little gossipy snark once in a while. We can´t think lofty thoughts all the time... this loosens up the neurons.

I´m always interested in various belief traditions. I never heard of Druze before ... but I found: http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/172195/Druze

only an elite of initiates, known as ?uqqal (“knowers”), participate fully in their religious services and have access to the secret teachings of the ?ikmah, the Druze religious doctrine. (snip)

It is not known to what extent this people was self-conscious and distinct before adopting their present religion. Druze religious beliefs developed out of Isma?ilite teachings. Various Jewish, Christian, Gnostic, Neoplatonic, and Iranian elements, however, are combined under a doctrine of strict monotheism.

and at: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Society_&_Culture/druze.html - there is some really interesting background information.

Thanks, #3. I´ve never thought or understood the Druze Sect to be an off shoot of Islam. That it has Iranian connections in no way infers Islam as there are many other eastern religions that are not muslim represented in Iran.

I think Amal is the re-bound love for Clooney. He dated the other woman for two years and when she broke it off and married someone else, he all of a sudden fell in love. She is now having a baby and he can´t stand it. I don´t think being married to a Muslim is going to work well. The pictures don´t look like a man in love.

In all seriousness, I believe Mom has nothing to worry about. Rumor has it Clooney is more interested in young men.

President Obama says he intends to shrink the al-Qaeda-spawned Islamic State into a “manageable problem.” Perhaps we’ll learn more about how when he speaks to the nation on Wednesday evening. Still, the question presses: Is he the manager for the job? (Snip) In late September 2012, Mr. Obama’s administration quietly approved the transfer of 55 jihadist prisoners out of the Guantanamo Bay detention center. As Tom Joscelyn explained at the time, most of the detainees had previously been categorized as “high risk” because they were deemed “likely to pose a threat to the US, its interests, and allies” if released.

Major Garrett Asks Why Anyone

Given what we know of President Obama’s speech tonight, Major Garrett of CBS News asks White House Spokesmodel Josh Earnest the $64,000 question — Why should anyone bother to watch? Garrett lays out all the bullet points the President will deliver tonight — no boots on the ground, no timeline, no cost information, no tactical operational details — in other words: nothing new. What’s the point of a speech, a primetime address to the nation, where no new information will be conveyed? Couldn’t the media just replay one of his old speeches on ISIS? Earnest’s answer left a lot to be desired,
