Paterson community in uproar over shooting
that left 12-year-old girl brain-dead

Paterson — Residents of a violence-plagued Paterson neighborhood formed an impromptu rally just hours after a 12-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet and declared brain-dead. Genesis Rincon, a student at School 21, was riding a scooter with two friends Saturday night on Rosa Parks Boulevard near Warren Street when she was shot in the head, according to Paterson police. She remains on life support at St. Joseph´s Hospital as her family finalizes plans to donate her organs. (Snip) Shootings occur almost nightly in the Fourth Ward, residents told The Record. Nearly half of the city´s shootings

Comments:
Unless they find a White-Hispanic or other non-black shooter, don´t expect to see The Usual Reverends and the Congressional Black Caucus riding around on scooters, a la the epidemic of "hoodies" in honor of Saint Trayvon. Instead, it´s business as usual on most any street named in honor of MLK or Ms. Parks; no extortion to be had, no expectation that anything can or even should change.

BOLO for a male between the ages of 13 and 27 who fell in with a bad crowd and was just starting to turn his life around. Other distinguishing characteristics: He´s an aspiring rapper and a good boy who always helps his mama.

Idoesn´t matter what color her skin is, or the name of the street this happened on. This was a tragedy. A young girl with her whole life ahead of her is gone, and her family is grieving. My heart goes out to them. And I am in awe that they made the unselfish decision to donate her organs so that other lives can be saved.

Meanwhile, city officials are also considering legislation that would shut down late-night businesses in high crime areas.

There you have it: Close legit business to prevent shootings, then residents can claim there are no stores open in the hood.

I agree 100% with poster #4. It is a tragedy. But the frustration exhibited here is brought about the lack of corrective measures taken to solve this type of problem in the community where it happens. Any corrective measures suggested by outsiders (including Bill Cosby) is met with cries of "RACISM" or "Uncle Tom".

Nothing will change until there is a change in the leadership of the respective communities.

Where are the gun banners marching in the streets and showing their cutsie "gun free zone" signs?

Where are those yellow bellied anti-constitution marxist cowards?

Ohhh they only do that at schools with white children. I see.

Attention, Walmart shoppers: The world’s largest retail chain misses you. Walmart on Thursday reported flat sales at its U.S. stores in the April to June period — the sixth straight quarter of declining or zero growth. The company, which targets lower-income shoppers by offering discounted prices, said its sluggish sales were the result of a sputtering economic recovery that has especially affected its core clientele. Detroit— A local Muslim-American group Thursday announced it has filed a federal lawsuit based on complaints the government has unjustly put a disproportionate number of Muslim-Americans on the nation’s “terror watch” list. Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter, says the lawsuit is not a reaction to a list uncovered last week that showed Dearborn has the second-highest concentration of people designated by the U.S. government as being “known or suspected terrorists.” Rather, his organization is seeking “remedies” to unjustly putting Muslim-Americans names on a list that don’t belong there.
