Why Obama Ignored Iraq
FrontPage, by Daniel Greenfield

Original Article

Posted By:Judy W., 7/7/2014 6:49:55 AM

ISIS marching through Iraq has smashed the media’s taboo against criticizing Obama’s foreign policy. Substantive discussions are taking place about why his foreign policy is such a miserable failure. And they mostly miss the point. Liberal journalists still proceed from the fallacy that there was a foreign policy debate between neo-conservative interventionists and liberal non-interventionists. These are a series of digested Bush era talking points that have no relationship to reality since Bush’s foreign policy on Iraq carried over from Bill Clinton. It’s why Hillary gets so uncomfortable when she has to discuss her vote on Iraq.

Comments:
This is pretty astute. Obama does not see America as a nation but as a vehicle to further his ideological program. If an issue doesn´t fit into that program he´s not interested, and Iraq doesn´t fit.

I hope the Republicans hold Hillary´s feet to the fire on her speech to Congress when she voted for the war in Iraq. She got up and said that after ten years of investigative work, she had come to the conclusion that the war was the right thing to do. Obama is really disconnected to anything not on a golf course. He cannot see that those illegals that he is championing are coming here for a better life because the Communist countries run by dictators or drug cartels are not working. He really is "stuck on stupid". His mentors, Frank Marshall and Valerie Jarrett, really did a job on him.

There are only two things Obama cares about: bringing America down to the level of any other third world country and golf.

Recently, a few conservative intellectuals have raised serious questions about the College Board’s effort to develop a new curriculum for the Advanced Placement history courses. Stanley Kurtz, at National Review Online, writes that “this Framework will effectively force American high schools to teach U.S. history from a leftist perspective.” Naturally, the College Board argues that its intent is only to provide “balance,” to streamline the curriculum, and to enhance teacher flexibility. In other words, all benign matters that educators should welcome.

They DO have a strategy, but they prefer to appear indecisive. That’s because the strategy would likely provoke even greater criticism than the false confession of endless dithering. The actual strategy is detente first, and then a full alliance with Iran throughout the Middle East and North Africa. It has been on display since before the beginning of the Obama administration. During his first presidential campaign in 2008, Mr. Obama used a secret back channel to Tehran to assure the mullahs that he was a friend of the Islamic Republic, and that they would be very happy with his policies.

We often read or hear from the media that a nation is “shocked” or “horrified” by the revelation of some crime or government scandal. It is almost never true. (Snip) Since Tuesday afternoon, however, Britain has felt real shock and horror over the report that 1,400 young women in the South Yorkshire town of Rotherham had been groomed, raped, prostituted, trafficked, and brutally abused in almost every possible way by a criminal gang for the last 16 years. In addition, the authorities — which in this case are the local government authority, the police, and the child-protection services

Education: For a parent, the headline couldn´t be more alarming: "Teacher of the Year accused of molesting student, charged with 5 felonies." It´s a story that, tragically, is all too common — and all too underreported. Why? We´ve all heard of the Catholic Church child abuse scandal that´s still regularly covered, 20 to 40 years after much of the abuse took place. It too was tragic, and acknowledged as such by the church, which has taken action to prevent its ever happening again. The same can´t be said of unionized public education — where child abuse appears to be rampant, often with

When it comes to Iraq, Obama lectures the Sunnis and the Shiites on getting along and forming a government that won’t exist for the sole benefit of a single group at the expense of the other. But in America he runs exactly that type of government. Iraqis are not stupid. They look at the news and they see Ferguson and Al Sharpton screaming at angry mobs and know that Obama is not practicing what he preaches to them. Obama may have forced out Maliki, but his own tribal politics are hard to distinguish from those of Maliki.

Government coercion of the financial sector to make irresponsible loans was the primary driver of the 2007-08 financial meltdown. Yet, as we’ve previously observed here, “Washington has searched every place but within for a scapegoat” – with the Obama Justice Department pursuing politically motivated investigations, prosecutions, and civil lawsuits against banks and credit rating agencies in order to concoct a history that blames predatory lending rather than statist policy. Now we learn that Eric Holder, the Tom Hagen of this racketeering enterprise of an administration, is using the vig that DOJ muscle is extorting from the banks to pour tens of

SALT LAKE CITY — A federal judge declared a portion of Utah’s polygamy ban unconstitutional late Wednesday, essentially decriminalizing polygamy in the state. U.S. District Court Judge Clark Waddoups ruled the phrase in the law “‘or cohabits with another person’ is a violation of the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is without a rational basis under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.” The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by reality TV polygamist Kody Brown and his wives, who left Utah fearing prosecution. They sued the state, arguing that the

Congress will barely be in session in the 10 weeks before Election Day, and it will do very little legislating. One of the issues it does have to resolve, though, is what to do with the Export-Import Bank. Ex-Im is a federal agency that subsidizes U.S. exporters, giving taxpayer-backed financing to foreign companies and governments. Conservatives are giving this agency a hard time, and House leaders show no desire to take up a bill reauthorizing Ex-Im. But government-shutdown politics complicates things. The most dangerous of the truth tellers are the non- Jews who stand up for Israel. This week, former British Labour MP Denis MacShane published an op-ed in Haaretz where he spoke to this point. MacShane argued that for Israel to win the information war being waged against it must cultivate non-Jewish defenders.

A whopping 68 percent of Americans think there should be a law that prohibits kids 9 and under from playing at the park unsupervised, despite the fact that most of them no doubt grew up doing just that. What´s more: 43 percent feel the same way about 12-year-olds. They would like to criminalize all pre-teenagers playing outside on their own (and, I guess, arrest their no-good parents). Those are the results of a Reason/Rupe poll confirming that we have not only lost all confidence in our kids and our communities—we have lost all touch with reality.

Having read about a “small riot somewhere in rural Minnesota,” Whittaker Chambers recorded in Witness, Robert Minor started shouting about “the beginning of the American revolution.” If the paper wished to capitalize upon dissatisfaction and spin it into insurrection and change, Minor proposed, it would need the staff to keep an eye out for the tell-tale sign and, then, to “play it up big.” Over the past month, the events in Ferguson, Mo., have played

Watching the events unfold in Ferguson, Missouri, I can’t help thinking about the Holocaust and post-war Germany. As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I’ve spent years watching Germany wrestle with its dark past. It’s just one of many places that have made efforts to understand and compensate for a difficult history: For nearly three decades, countries as varied as South Africa, Rwanda, and the nations of Latin America and post-Communist Eastern Europe have been engaged in this process, often called “transitional justice.” That’s a broad term for the ways in which societies deal with the legacies of past injustice.

It will take two decades to rebuild the thousands of houses destroyed during Israel’s assault on Gaza, according to a recent NGO report. At least 17,000 homes were obliterated or severely damaged during the conflict, with thousands more needing substantial repairs, according to an assessment by Shelter Cluster. More than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, were killed during the conflict. In addition 71 Israelis were killed – all but six of them soldiers. But the report on Gaza’s housing stock indicates inhabitants of the densely populated strip will face a severe infrastructural burden over the coming years.
