Hillary Clinton:
John McCain´s favorite Democrat?

CBS News, by Lindsey Boerma

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 7/6/2014 3:05:22 PM

Sen. John McCain would be "proud" to work with a President Hillary Clinton, the Arizona Republican said Sunday on "Face the Nation" - that is, he added, if she "regrettably" makes it into the White House. Last month, Clinton on "Good Morning America" called McCain, whom she faced in a bid for the Oval Office in 2008, her favorite Republican. Asked whether he reciprocates the sentiment about the former first lady, (Snip) "I respect Secretary/Senator Clinton; I respect her views," he said. "We have had disagreements on a number of issues. But I think it's my job to work with every president if she, regrettably, attains the presidency.

Comments:
I just caught this part as the question was asked and was shocked by one word, which I thought CBS would edit out (like NBC did to Zimmermann). Surprisingly, they didn´t. The word: "regrettably." He got a zinger in at PIAPS. He may not be Herself's fave after that comment.

McCain was a nut case before he resided in the Hanoi Hilton. You don´t finish near or at the bottom of your Annapolis class without "issues". Further, you are not linked to the destruction of five of your own aircraft without issues. He has been a mess his entire life and only his father being a high ranking admiral allowed him to get as far as he did in the USN.

It´s his job to work with every president?

What on earth does he mean by that? Where does it say that it is the job of an elected politician to work with anybody who happens to be president, regardless of conflicting politics and values?

I have always supposed that the job of an elected representative was to represent the views and values of the American citizens who elected him/her.

Has something changed? Did I not get the memo?

McCain is a strange duck. He keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. It really does seem to be (past?) time for him to fade away.

Australia has raised its terror alert level to "high" for the first time since the national alert system was introduced in 2003. According to the four-level system, a reading of "high" means a terrorist attack "is likely," however the country´s Prime Minister Tony Abbott said no specific threat had been made. "This does not mean a terror attack is imminent, we have no specific intelligence of particular plots. What we do have is intelligence that there are people with the intent and capability to mount attacks," Abbott said at a press conference in Canberra on Friday.

Berlin - President Obama´s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris. Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions (Snip) Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. His refusal even to ask the Justice Department to provide a formal legal pretext for the war on ISIS is astonishing.

A Democratic election year push to amend the Constitution and roll back campaign-spending free speech rights ran out of steam Thursday and fell victim to a Senate filibuster. Holding the vote, even in defeat, was a major political goal for Democrats during the two-week session of Congress. They hope the fight will help them rally their base ahead of November’s elections, arguing that changing the Constitution is needed to prevent wealthy conservatives from improperly influencing elections. The amendment Democratic leaders proposed would have given Congress and state legislatures the ability to set “reasonable” limits on how much

A man jumped the perimeter fence of the White House on Thursday, jangling nerves on the 13th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Witnesses said he was quickly apprehended by two armed Secret Service officers who had scrambled to intercept him. The White House complex, as is standard procedure in such incidents — which are common — was locked down and people were prevented from entering and leaving the grounds. US President Barack Obama was not at home at the time because he was taking part in an event elsewhere in Washington to mark the anniversary of the 2001 attacks.

As we suspected, President Obama tried in his Wednesday-night speech to make it sound like he was doing something new when he, in fact, he is not. Moreover, in describing his response, he made plain that he doesn’t take the threat to the homeland seriously. For a threat his advisers say is greater than that posed by al-Qaeda after 2001, he proposed measures suitable for Yemen and Somalia. No, really — that’s the plan. Rarely has a president faced a greater challenge in establishing his credibility for a new foreign-policy move than Barack Obama did in his nationally televised speech tonight. While Obama now pledges to ask Congress to train and aid Syrian rebels who would fight the group, voters remember that he backed similar plans in Syria in 2013, when his advisers saw Syrian president Bashar Assad as the major threat. President Obama just announced that he is bringing a counter-terrorism strategy to an insurgency fight. He was at pains to repeat the phrase “counter-terror” four times in a short speech. Noting that ISIL is not a state (partly because the international community thankfully does not recognize it), he declared, “ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.” Neither of those sentences, unfortunately, is true.
