July 4 parade float mocking Obama
draws accusations of racism

CBS News, by Jake Miller

A Fourth of July parade float in Nebraska that showed a dummy standing outside an outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" is drawing cries of racism from local residents and the Nebraska Democratic Party. The float, in the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk, Neb., was affixed to trailer being towed behind a blue pickup truck. The dummy was clad in overalls, standing by a walker next to the outhouse. (Snip) But one of the parade´s organizers, Rick Konopasek, told the Lincoln Journal-Star the float was intended to be no more offensive than a political cartoon. He said the outhouse was the

I sneezed into a brown handkerchief therefore I must be a racist.

If it was a white handkerchief and a black man sneezed into it, that would be OK.

Sorry, I don´t have white handkerchiefs but.....

As for the float....

Disrespectful to Obama - you bet.

Racist - no way.

You don´t need anything bigger than an outhouse. The only thing inside should be the teleprompter and his golf clubs. Oh, almost forgot, his pen, his phone and the CD with the speeches he had the nerve to give to the Queen.

Nice to see the author copy from the local paper. A picture in the local report showed the float to be on the back of a flatbed pickup, but the copy read "affixed to a trailer being towed behind a blue pickup truck". No attention to detail. The float should have gotten more than just honorable mention.

I don´t see the racism in it but I expect to see racism. It´s a sign of the times. The more we have black on white crime, knockout games, flashing, the DOJ refusing to apply the law equally, the more white lose their jobs, college seats, promotions, etc. to AA the more the hatred builds the more it comes down to black vs white the more likely it may rear its ugly head.

#18 is spot on. If you criticize The Anointed One for any reason whatsoever, by definition that makes you a racist. There can be no other reason, because "he´s sort of a God," according to that halfwit at Newsweek.

BTW, I always thought the Dear Leader was a mulatto. According to #9, he´s a quadroon?

Finally, did the on-scene reporter go looking for the one person who was insulted, or did she present herself to the media for her 15 minutes? In any case, ToHellWithHer --- I wonder if she was that upset when the Libs smeared GWB with as much as they could dig up every day of his presidency.

This man has brought us to the point where NOT disrespecting him is an insult to the high office and all its prior occupants. The float was stupid, insulting, and has had the effect of confirming the worst accusations that have been leveled at Obama´s critics.
We should be classier in our criticism. The Democrats are worse, but we are responsible for our own behavior and are better than that.

Supporters of the Islamic State terror group are being urged to attack Times Square and other popular American tourist attractions with easily assembled homemade bombs, according to a disturbing report Tuesday. A message posted on an ISIS Web forum lists widely available ingredients needed to build a pipe bomb, and includes photos showing how to combine them into a deadly explosive device, Vocativ reported. The Arabic-language message cites Times Square — the scene of a failed car-bomb attack in 2010 by al Qaeda sympathizer Faisal Shahzad — and the Las Vegas Strip as prime targets, but also suggests striking sites

President Barack Obama unveiled his plan to tackle the Ebola crisis in West Africa on Tuesday, promising to do far more to tackle the deadly virus he said could result in "hundreds of thousands of people infected" without US intervention. "More than 2,400 men, women, and children are known to have died and we strongly suspect that the actual death toll is higher than that," Obama said in a speech at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. "Hospitals, clinics, and the few treatment centers that do exist have been completely overwhelmed." The president was particularly dire

Democrats are now (very slightly) favored to hold the Senate majority on Nov. 4, according to Election Lab, the Post´s statistical model of the 2014 midterm elections. Election Lab puts Democrats´ chances of retaining their majority at 51 percent -- a huge change from even a few months ago when the model predicted that Republicans had a better than 80 percent chance of winning the six seats they need to take control. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff raised the possibility Tuesday that U.S. troops could become involved in ground attacks against the Islamic State, despite repeated pledges to the contrary from President Obama. Army Gen. (Worth noting: When the model showed Republicans as overwhelming favorites, our model builders -- led by George Washington University´s John Sides -- warned that the model could and

The United States government is sending thousands of military troops to the west African nation of Liberia as part of the Obama administration´s Ebola virus-response strategy, the White House said late Monday night. [Snip] ´A general from U.S. Army Africa, the Army component of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), will lead this effort, which will involve an estimated 3,000 U.S. forces.´ Liberia is the hardest-hit of the four west African nations that have confirmed Ebola cases, accounting for more than one-half of the fatalities. The others are Sierra Leone, Guinea and, to a lesser extent, Nigeria.

There’s a lot of competition for Barack Obama’s biggest lie. The man who could assure the American public with a straight face over thirty times that they could keep their doctor under his health plan, when he knew that to be completely false, is one hellluva fibber. But execrable as that serial prevarication may have been, it doesn’t hold a proverbial candle to his most recent whopper — that the Islamic State is not Islamic — not to mention its corollary, or perhaps subsidiary lie, that real religions do not indulge in murder. Islam has been doing that pretty much straight

Is there a mutiny brewing around Obama?

Is a mutiny happening around President Obama? It appears possible that the president may not have made two of his most recent decisions with complete free will. The announcement that he would delay his immigration initiative until after the election and his formal announcement that the United States would take military action against the Islamic State could have been coerced. Maybe Democratic leaders in Congress and a few members of the Obama team have had it. Could it be that, after President Obama briefed Democrats in Congress on the immigration plan, they balked? Maybe the president was told that, if he
