Harry Reid’s land sale to gold

Washington Post, by Rosalind S. Helderman

SEARCHLIGHT, Nev. — Harry Reid grew up in a shack in this dusty old gold-mining outpost in the middle of the desert. As he rose to political power, he amassed personal wealth and began living part time in a condo in Washington. But he never stopped holding tightly to a gritty public persona grounded in his Searchlight roots — building a house here and keeping the town his official residence. Along the way, a tiny town that thrived only briefly during a gold rush more than a century ago gained bragging rights as home to the most powerful man in

I´m confused by the giddiness of the WaPo over this environmental disaster in the making. According to libtards, mining is an evil on par with protesting an abortion clinic. As such, I´m confused as to the hero story of Hairy Reed selling land for a gold mine. In the mean time, they Keystone XL pipeline is demonized as an environmental disaster in the making; coal mining and power generation from such is just one stop from Nazi gas chambers. But Hairy Reed´s gold mine is a boon for him (libtards love rich libtards) and one little forgotten town.

"For me but not for Thee" should be the battle flag of the libtards.

The state has submitted two locations -- a Cape Cod military base and Chicopee air base -- for federal approval to house up to 1,000 children who´ve crossed the country´s southern borders illegally, Gov. Deval Patrick will announce today. The feds will determine whether Joint Base Cape Cod in Bourne or Westover Air Base in Chicopee are suitable to shelter the unaccompanied minors for four months, according to a briefing the Patrick administration released to legislators this morning. The average stay of a child would be 35 days, and the federal government would cover the costs of the facility and

Keijzer, who was from Amsterdam, was a doctoral student in the chemistry department in the IU College of Arts and Sciences and had already earned her master’s degree from the university. “On behalf of the entire Indiana University community, I want to express my deepest sympathies to Karlijn’s family and friends over her tragic death,” Indiana University President Michael A.

MARION, Iowa — The unspoken rules of prepresidential politics, not to mention the diplomacy of navigating a scandal, required Chris Christie to avoid any suggestion that his swing through Iowa on Thursday involved his own White House ambitions. Inside a diner here, a different reality played out. Mr. Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, reveled in repeated pleas to run for president, nodding as a middle-aged man here told him that he alone possessed the “rough-and-tumble style” necessary to tame Washington. “You know how to play that game,” the man said. “I do,” Mr. Christie replied. Were Americans among the almost 300 people killed when a Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777 was shot down over eastern Ukraine on Thursday? Some media reports say there were 23 Americans on MH17, a scheduled flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, and President Obama said earlier that efforts were underway to determine if any Americans were aboard. As of 11:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern Daylight Time, an airline spokesman in the Malaysian capital said by phone he still could not confirm whether Americans were among the dead. Efforts were continuing to verify the nationalities of the last 41 of the 283 passengers,

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. This inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City is often referred to as The United States Postal Service Creed. Neither scandal nor crisis nor disaster, foreign or domestic, stays this president from taking his recreation and vacations. The juxtaposition of the two articles below might make us think of this as The Obama Creed. Stanford University´s Hoover Institution Senior Fellow in Classics and Military History, Victor Davis Hanson, begins his article in the National Review

After President Barack Obama breathlessly addressed four different foreign-policy issues during a 10-minute statement, he summed up the state of a crisis-filled world in one sentence. "We live in a complex world and at a challenging time," Obama said. Obama touched on the laundry list of global flashpoints situations during a statement from the White House on Wednesday — the disputed elections in Afghanistan, the negotiations on Iran´s nuclear program, the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, and, finally, the conflict in Ukraine. The most significant recent development in these situations was the announcement of new sanctions on Russia shortly before the president spoke. Obama described those
