Bias: You´d think that a government audit showing how ObamaCare couldn´t tell whether millions of enrollees were eligible for the subsidies they´re getting would be front-page news. Instead, the press hid it from view. If you wanted to read in the New York Times about these findings — which detailed rampant problems verifying eligibility and income information from millions of ObamaCare applicants — you had to dig 17 pages into the news section. In the Washington Post, the story was on page 11, after stop-the-press-stories like a change in House travel reporting rules and a puff piece on the new VA administrator.

FTA: "So why the media blackout? Well, the press has already declared ObamaCare a big success, so it can´t very well admit that ObamaCare is, in fact, massively failing."

This sums up the root of our problems. The media is dedicated to protecting the boy king in whatever cockamamie scheme he decides to push down our throats. This dark period in our country´s history is a direct result of the media not doing its job. Obamacare or Obama himself would not exist without them. They willfully ignore facts to protect their messiah and his ideology. I loathe most politicians but I especially despise the media. They have betrayed their country.

The corrupt and co-opted news media is obama´s greatest ally, for what it blindly echoes, for what it misrepresents, and most of all, for what it ignores. To understand its role is to despise it. It must be called out at every failing and infraction.

Obama Recovery Turns 5:
Are You Better Off?

In a speech last week in Delaware, President Obama was positively bursting with pride about what his policies have produced since the economic recovery started five years ago. "Our businesses have now added nearly 10 million new jobs over the past 52 months," he said, "Construction and housing are rebounding. The auto industry is booming. ... Manufacturing is adding jobs for the first time since the 1990s. The unemployment rate is at its lowest point since September of 2008." [snip] What Obama didn´t say in his speech is that the recovery he has overseen — which started six months after

ObamaCare´s Shrinking Geography

Reform: Probably hoping no one would notice, regulators late last week exempted from ObamaCare five U.S. territories where it was failing. Will they do the same once it´s obvious ObamaCare is failing everywhere else? When the geniuses in Congress and the White House were writing the ObamaCare legislation, they made a slight mistake. The law imposed ObamaCare´s guaranteed issue and community rating insurance mandates on the five territories — which have a combined population of more than 4 million — but it exempted them from the individual mandate and didn´t offer any subsidies. Not surprisingly, the insurance markets quickly collapsed

Separation Of Powers: John Boehner´s lawsuit against President Obama is being mocked by the very same people who dismissed an earlier challenge to Obama´s imperial ways — one the Supreme Court unanimously upheld. That case involved Obama´s decision in early 2012 to make "recess" appointments to several key posts, though the Senate was still in session. As with Boehner´s proposed suit, it was widely ridiculed as a "political stunt" without legal merit that would end up backfiring on the GOP. Laurence Tribe, the left´s favorite constitutional law professor, said, "Whatever standards the courts ultimately adopt . .. this case ought to be

Krugman´s Blind Eye

Health Reform: Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says critics of ObamaCare should cease and desist, because the law is "working." Given his track record on health care analysis, we´ll politely ignore this advice. In 2011, the same Krugman declared the Veterans Health Administration was "a huge policy success story, which offers important lessons for future health reform" because, among other things, "it´s free from the perverse incentives created when doctors and hospitals profit from expensive tests and procedures." It turns out the VHA is more akin to a cesspool of bloated bureaucracy, mismanagement, deadly delays and cover-ups. A couple years earlier, Krugman was

Leadership: All year long, President Obama has bragged that if Congress didn´t act on his legislative agenda, he´d do so on his own. But when it comes to the border crisis, he says his hands are tied. Back in January, Obama labeled 2014 a "year of action." He said, "I´ve got a pen and I´ve got a phone" and promised to use them to "take executive actions and administrative actions" if Congress failed to get things done. The White House even issued a "year of action" report this week, which includes "40 actions" Obama has taken (not counting the dozens of unilateral

ObamaCare Enrollment

Buried in a largely overlooked government audit of the Obama-Care exchanges is a finding that casts still more doubt on the reliability of the 8 million enrollment number commonly cited by the administration and the press. In a section titled "Other Issues," an inspector general report released last week found that the HealthCare.gov marketplace couldn´t show it had been reconciling its monthly enrollment numbers with insurance companies. That´s despite the fact that the law specifically calls for this reconciliation, and the fact that, as the IG report notes, "the federal marketplace obtained the services of a contractor to reconcile enrollment

Government Audits Reveal
Vast ObamaCare Failures

Accountability: Two new audits reveal failures in ObamaCare on a scale even we didn´t think possible, with unresolved discrepancies, rules violations and technology problems that expose taxpayers to massive overpayments. In the first of a series of ObamaCare audits, the Health and Human Services inspector general found 2.9 million "inconsistencies" in applications submitted to the federal HealthCare.gov exchange in the first five months of open enrollment. In other words, the Social Security numbers, income, family size, citizenship or other information applicants provided didn´t match existing government data. Some 1.3 million of the problems involved citizenship, and an additional million involved income, the

For me, watching the Food Network was always an easy escape from the stresses of daily life. There was just something calming about watching chefs in action, and this network had perfected Zen cooking. They’d often use a natural-light filter that made food appear delectable, as if the chefs were blissfully cooking their culinary delights in the sunlit designer kitchen of a tastefully decorated, impeccable home somewhere in the Hamptons. (Well, with Ina Garten, that actually is the case.) I’ve never been anywhere near a sunlit designer kitchen in the Hamptons, but I still found it all oddly soothing. I’d

Bill and Hillary Clinton are making the most of their downtime in the Hamptons. The former U.S. President and his ex-Secretary of State wife were pictured this morning enjoying a stroll on the beach in Amagansett, where they are paying $100,000 to rent an $18million five-bedroom property for three weeks. The couple, who were accompanied by their dogs as well as a Secret Service agent, were dressed in very casual clothes, with President Clinton decked out in black SoulCycle shorts and green sneakers and his wife in a bright blue muumuu and slippers. President Obama, who ran for office on a platform of ending U.S. military hostilities in Iraq, said Thursday night that he had authorized ´targeted airstrikes if necessary´ in an effort to protect the delivery of humanitarian aid to threatened Iraqis, and to ensure the safety of US personnel delivering the assistance. ´We do whatever is necessary to protect our people. Speaking at the U.S.-Africa Summit earlier this week, Secretary of State John Kerry had a bit of astonishing advice for African leaders. While noting that Africa faces a starvation problem, he also admonished its leaders not to create more farms. The reason? Adding more farms would contribute to “global warming.” Yeah, he really said that: “Certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution and actually contribute to the problem in the first place. It’s a twisted circle. Always complicated. But we also know that there are certain ways to change that. For example, rather than convert natural areas to new farmland, a process

Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis on Thursday questioned the deployment of 1,000 National Guard troops on the border with Mexico to curtail illegal immigration and she promised, if elected, that she will study withdrawing them. The troop contingent was promised a month ago by current Republican Gov. Rick Perry, and it is expected that in the coming days they will begin to be deployed along the Texas-Mexico border, which stretches some 2,000 kilometers (about 1,240 miles). "The action I am ordering today will tackle this crisis head-on by multiplying our efforts to combat the cartel activity, human traffickers and individual criminals

Peace has to start with Israeli and Palestinians leaders, namely Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, US President Barack Obama told the New York Times´ Foreign Affairs columnist Thomas Friedman. [Snip] Obama worried that Netanyahu´s high approval ratings--which have jumped in recent weeks in the wake of Israel´s month-long operation in Gaza--could prevent him from making the difficult concessions needed to reach a long-term deal: "If he doesn’t feel some internal pressure, then it’s hard to see him being able to make some very difficult compromises," like the issue of settlements, the president said.

PRESIDENT OBAMA was right to order military action to prevent a potential genocide in northern Iraq and to stop forces of the al-Qaeda-derived Islamic State from advancing on Baghdad or the Kurdish capital of Irbil. However, the steps the president authorized on Thursday amount to more of his administration’s half-measures, narrowly tailored to this week’s emergency and unconnected to any coherent strategy to address the conflagration spreading across the Middle East. While U.S. airstrikes and drops of supplies may prevent the terrorist forces from massacring the Yazidi sect or toppling the pro-Western regime in Kurdistan, Mr. Obama lacks a plausible

Officials at Brooks Elementary School in Newnan, Ga. announced the draconian new policy for the upcoming school year via a letter to parents, reports The Newnan Times-Herald. “When parents have brought in goodies for birthdays, oftentimes these children are not included in the snack because of dietary restrictions and have felt left out,” Julie Raschen, principal of Brooks Elementary, said, according to the Times-Herald.
