Jimmy Carter in Russia
PJ Media, by Kim Zigfeld

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 7/6/2014 4:29:56 AM

You’ll have a hard time finding any mention of it in the left-wing mainstream media, but last Saturday former U.S. President James Earl Carter flew into the northern Russian city of Murmansk on a Gulfstream private jet for a little luxury fishing expedition (Russian-language link). It seems Mr. Carter would like to do all he can to legitimize Russian aggression in Ukraine, and if he can combine doing so with a gold-plated vacay, so much the better. At almost the same moment, Ukrainian government troops were triumphantly raising the national flag over City Hall in the Eastern Ukraine city of Slaviansk,

My cousin used to travel throughout Europe and the USSR on business during the time Jimmah was pres. From top leader to man on the street, he said Russians always laughed at the mention of Carter´s name. Maybe he´s trying to salvage his reputation there, because he certainly can´t do it in the USA.

I misunderstood the headline, I thought he was moving there. Oh well, I guess it was too much to hope it was true. Sigh.

Obama is STILL all smiles as he returns to

President Barack Obama´s summer vacation off the Massachusetts coast has come to an end. The president returned to the White House late Sunday after spending two weeks with his family on the island of Martha´s Vineyard. What a break it turned out to be. His attempt at rest and relaxation was largely overtaken by events involving Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria, including the videotaped execution of an American journalist they had been holding hostage, and the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, following the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man. Obama broke from his vacation to deliver statements on Iraq,

Near the height of annual harvesting and tourist season, California´s Napa Valley wineries were struck hard by Sunday´s magnitude-6.0 earthquake, but many reported surprisingly light damage. The early morning earthquake, whose epicenter was about 9 miles south of Napa, jolted residents and had winemakers scrambling to check their homes and businesses. "It was a very violent awakening," says Sandy Taylor, co-founder of the Taylor Family Winery in Napa. "It seemed to shake a long time. Our dogs and cats bailed out." Taylor says her winery, about a mile from the epicenter, lost one barrel of 2013 Chardonnay. "The finished bottles at the winery

Missing and unmentioned in the Post article are any complaints of mistreatment or racism by Officer Wilson from residents of Jennings and Ferguson prior to the Brown shooting. The Washington Post published a long article Saturday night–more than seventy paragraphs–with three bylines and six supporting reporters looking for dirt on Officer Darren Wilson–an effort unmatched by the media since Sarah Palin’s official emails were released from her time as Alaska governor. Officer Wilson is the white Ferguson, Missouri policeman who shot unarmed black 18 year old robber Michael Brown in a confrontation in the middle of a neighborhood street minutes after Brown

With summer drawing to a close, parents are desperate. Camp’s over; the kids’ friends have left for more exotic destinations. A trip to the pool doesn’t yield the same excitement it did in June. And so many families are caving to demands for a trip to the amusement park. Whether you’re thinking of Six Flags, Sesame Place, Hershey Park or Dutch Wonderland: Don’t do it — you’ll be sorry. Amusement parks — especially water parks — have never been more popular. More than 26 million people went to a Six Flags last year. John Robinett of the nonprofit Themed Entertainment Asssociation has some hifatlutin’

Californians have moved to Colorado and Nevada. Massachusetts natives have moved to New Hampshire. New Yorkers have moved to North Carolina and Virginia — and, of course, have continued moving to Florida. Over the last few decades, residents of many traditionally liberal states have moved to states that were once more conservative. And this pattern has played an important role in helping the Democratic Party win the last two presidential elections and four of the last six. The growth of the Latino population and the social liberalism of the millennial generation may receive more attention, but the growing diaspora of blue-state

A New Hampshire couple won a $2.4-million jackpot at a vaunted Las Vegas slot machine, ending a 20-year run in which many contestants tried and failed to coax a giant payout from the recalcitrant machine. The game, which is the last progressive slot machine left on the casino´s floor, had tempted players since the 1990s with its ever-increasing jackpot. An eruption of aggravation about what American schoolchildren can no longer eat in school cafeterias is never far away in the Obama era. Now, thanks to federal intervention that first lady Michelle has made her signature issue, students in all 11 taxpayer-funded public schools in Elyria, Ohio cannot enjoy the famous Elyria pink cookie anymore. This cookie is no ordinary cookie, according to The Chronicle-Telegram, the Cleveland suburb’s local newspaper. It’s a velvety, cake-like, scrumptious delicacy glazed with a huge dollop of sugary pink icing. Cleveland magazine dubbed the Elyria pink cookie the “Best Cafeteria Cookie” in 2009. If at first you don’t secede, try, try again. This might be the motto of Alex Salmond’s Scottish National party, which since 1934 has been advocating the proposition that Scotland should be an independent country, governed not from London but from Edinburgh and able to make its own policy decisions about defense, immigration, taxation, and spending. On September 18, Scots will finally face a referendum about their future. Do they wish to continue to be part of the United Kingdom or to go it alone under their own flag—the blue and white saltire—into a new Caledonian era? The timing of

Sometimes a round of golf is just a round of golf. And sometimes it reveals the essence of a man. President Obama’s decision to hit the links and yuk it up with pals immediately after speaking about the beheading of James Foley was no ordinary mistake. Nor was it a simple gaffe. The decision continues to cause an uproar because, like an X-ray, there is no escaping the image. It shows there is no there there. With even his media praetorian guard appalled, the golf outing is sparking a wider understanding that Obama is hollow, empty of the routine qualities Americans expect from

At last, we know the reason why comedy writers don’t make fun of President Obama much. It turns out the man is completely unmockable. We learn this from Jim Downey, the longtime “Saturday Night Live” specialist in political japery. “If I had to describe Obama as a comedy project, I would say, ‘Degree of difficulty, 10 point 10,’” the writer says in the expanded new edition of the “SNL” oral history book, “Live from New York.” “It’s like being a rock climber looking up at a thousand-foot-high face of solid obsidian, polished and oiled,” Downey says. “There’s not a single thing to grab

Back in 1968, when I was 30, my entire life blew up. I had a life plan and it collapsed for no rational reason. The song that carried me through those years and all stages of my life is "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell. I first heard the song in 1968, when Judy Collins´s version was a huge radio hit. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has said that he would not recommend U.S. military airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Syria until he determines that they have become a direct threat to the U.S. Gen. Martin Dempsey, speaking to reporters on board a military plane traveling to Afghanistan, said Sunday that he believes the Sunni insurgent group formerly known as ISIS is more of a regional threat and is not currently plotting or planning attacks against the U.S. or Europe. ISIS has repeatedly made threats to attack the U.S. through social and conventional media. Earlier this month, in a

FERGUSON, Mo. — It was 1 a.m. and Michael Brown Jr. called his father, his voice trembling. He had seen something overpowering. In the thick gray clouds that lingered from a passing storm this past June, he made out an angel. And he saw Satan chasing the angel and the angel running into the face of God. Mr. Brown was a prankster, so his father and stepmother chuckled at first. “No, no, Dad! Democrat Michelle Nunn is running ahead of David Perdue in the race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. The WSB-TV poll found that Mrs. Nunn has 47 percent to 40 percent edge over Mr. Perdue. The libertarian candidate, Amanda Swafford, received 3 percent, and 10 percent of the respondents were undecided. The winner of the race will replace retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss. Mrs. Nunn, the daughter of former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn, is seen as one of Democrats best bets to flip control of a GOP-held seat. Republicans need to flip six seats to win back the Senate.

America has a deficit of workers. Willing workers. Capable workers. Skilled, or at least semi-skilled workers, who can do a job and do it well. There are at least one million jobs that go begging day after day if only employers could find workers to fill them. This probably seems hard-to-believe. After all, how can America have a worker shortage when we have about 18 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed? When the real unemployment rate is 12 percent? (Snip) But there are also millions of unemployed Americans who don’t have the skill sets to match what employers are in need
