Why This Bird Could Decide
the Senate Balance of Power

Associated Press, by Nicholas Riccardi

Original Article

An obscure, chicken-sized bird best known for its mating dance could help determine whether Democrats or Republicans control the U.S. Senate in November. The federal government is considering listing the greater sage grouse as an endangered species next year. Doing so could limit development, energy exploration, hunting and ranching on the 165 million acres of the bird´s habitat across 11 Western states. Apart from the potential economic disruption, which some officials in Western states discuss in tones usually reserved for natural disasters, the specter of the bird´s listing is reviving the centuries-old debates about local vs. federal control and whether

Sounds like a down and dirty trick to remove everyone to a city (Agenda 21). How about moving the blackbird in the WH and planting him in the middle of those 165,000,000 acres with no abode, no job, no food, no energy, and no income.

Well that is one way to stop fracking which has led to the United States topping Saudi Arabia in oil production. This is something obama is trying to do for the Arabs so we import more of their oil. If obama and Democrats can kill our oil and coal production they would be thrilled. The Democrat Party has become the enemy within. To them the trifecta is amnesty and destruction of the oil and coal industries. Maybe they can run on "More illegals less energy" I´m sure that will strike a cord with the base of the party.

This is a case where envirowhacko groups filed a friendly lawsuit 4 years ago against the US government. By way of collusion with the envirowhacko groups, the government agreed to a settlement to take it out of court.
The settlement agreed that the US government would list this stupid sage chicken as endangered by 2015--late in Zippy´s term.
This is criminal conspiracy, writ large. Fish and Wildlife Dept, EPA, and other federal agencies collude with environmental groups to bring suit against the government, and then roll over in a settlement, citing the settlement as the new regulation or law.
This is criminal conspiracy.

In our ranching area of southwest Texas, the Wildlife Conservancy is campaigning to "assist" ranchers in managing their wildlife. That would be javalinas, mule and whitetail deer, dove, quail, wild turkey and occasional elk straying from local private exotic ranches. Most of us don´t want the group anywhere near us, much less hiring them to "help". We´re very leery of a second shoe dropping.

A “Public Integrity Unit” with no integrity — so that’s what they mean by “Keep Austin Weird.” Texas governor Rick Perry has been indicted on two felony charges and could, in theory, spend the rest of his life in prison — for the so-called crime of vetoing a piece of legislation. The story is a sordid one: Travis County district attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, who is in charge of the state’s Public Integrity Unit, a governmental ethics enforcer, was arrested for, and subsequently convicted of, drunken driving. Video documentation of her booking showed her abusing the jail staff, making threats, and engaging in

With the weakest national security team since World War II, it is no wonder that both our foreign and national security policies lack coherence and direction. The Administration’s faculty-lounge logic that, in the 21st century, “diplomacy” will substitute for military solutions to international crisis, overlooks or chooses to ignore a key factor: recognized military power that provides the essential underpinnings to successful diplomacy. It is called “Peace through Strength.” How did we get to the rudderless position we are in today? Clearly, a series of policy mistakes have been made. It should be remembered that it was President Carter’s misguided policies

Possibly the most sickening thing about America is its racial selectivity. White person kills white person. Zzzzz. Black person kills black person. Zzzzz. Black person kills white person. Zzzzz. White person kills black person — the world stops. Or explodes. (And if the person doing the shooting is not quite white, à la George Zimmerman, you can add a little bleach, dubbing him a “white Hispanic.”) It’s not just that some life is held to be more valuable than other life. It’s that the value of life is measured by the color of the person who takes it. Which is a little

What was supposed to be a PR bonanza is ending up as another black eye for Vladimir Putin, the heralded chess master of world politics. Did he really expect the world community to force Ukraine to allow in Russia’s gift of humanitarian assistance, no questions asked? Did he really think that Ukraine would allow his convoy to proceed into a war zone as cameras recorded the celebratory reception by starving and suffering civilians? Did Putin really not understand that national leaders look askance at attempts to cross national borders without permission? That is the International Politics 101 lecture that Putin

All across America, it seems, we have been hearing about the militarization of law enforcement. To the growing list of 21st century social and cultural disorders it seems timely to add the criminalization of political disagreement. What else could the Rick Perry case be about? A governor, and sometime presidential candidate, indicted by a grand jury for a particular use of his constitutional veto power? Such are the dismaying dimensions of the matter. No such thing, replies the special prosecutor who procured the indictment of Texas’ longest-serving governor. Michael McCrum finds “absolutely no basis” for the accusation that politics motivated the indictment,

What kind of ally refuses to send you desperately needed weapons when you’re smack in the middle of a war? Apparently, that’s what the Obama folks did with Israel, which is caught up fighting with Hamas. It’s unforgivable. The decision came, it seems, after White House officials learned that, unbeknownst to them, Israel had gotten mortar shells and grenade-illuminating rounds from the Pentagon to use against Hamas, as The Wall Street Journal reported last week. Officials say they were “blind-sided” by the transfer. But it turns out that it was done as a matter of routine: No OK by the president or secretary

Elia Kazan’s classic A Face in the Crowd is a good primer on Barack Obama’s rise and fall. Lonesome Rhodes arises out of nowhere in the 1957 film, romancing the nation as a phony populist who serially spins yarns in the most folksy ways — confident that he should never be held to account. Kazan’s point (in the film Rhodes is a patsy for conservative business interests) is that the “folks” are fickle and prefer to be charmed rather than informed and told the truth. Rhodes’s new first name, Lonesome, resonates in the film in a way that Barack does

The S.L.A., one of the loopiest and most dangerous of the homegrown terrorist groups that flourished in the madhouse of the early 1970s, was already famous for kidnapping and “converting” Patty Hearst when its members engaged in a nationally televised shootout in Los Angeles in the spring of 1974. They say a prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich, and this always seemed like hyperbole, until Friday night a Texas grand jury announced an indictment of governor Rick Perry. The “crime” for which Perry faces a sentence of 5 to 99 years in prison is vetoing funding for a state agency. The conventions of reporting — which treat the fact of an indictment as the primary news, and its merit as a secondary analytic question — make it difficult for people reading the news to grasp just how farfetched this indictment is. The Obama administration has done little to calm racial tensions as they spread from Manhattan to St. Louis to Los Angeles. Quite the opposite, some top officials have fueled African-American fears of racism with false accusations of anti-black discrimination. Attorney General Eric Holder’s race-baiting is no secret. Justice Department documents show the nation’s top cop gave thousands of dollars to help the Rev. Al Sharpton organize marches protesting the death of Trayvon Martin. Now he’s sent the civil-rights unit to St. Louis to do the same thing in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. Less known, however, is the role of Labor Secretary Thomas

Officers are seeking the person who shot the critically-wounded victim after the 12am-5am curfew took hold in Ferguson, Missouri - eight days after Michael Brown, 18, was shot dead by police. Police said their strong response came after people broke into a restaurant and took position on the roof overlooking officers, while another man flashed a handgun as armoured vehicles approached. A grand jury in Travis County, Texas, indicted Governor Rick Perry today. Why? For exercising his constitutional prerogative by threatening to veto, and then vetoing, an appropriation to support the public corruption unit in Travis County’s district attorney’s office. This followed the arrest of the county’s district attorney, Democratic Party activist Rosemary Lehmberg, for drunk driving, after she was found “with an open bottle of vodka in the front passenger seat of her car in a church parking lot in Austin.” Ms. Lehmberg served 45 days in jail. The Travis County district attorney’s office has long been a cesspool of corruption.
