A Fourth of July parade float that depicted a figure standing outside an outhouse labeled the “Obama Presidential Library” has created a stir on social media and is also receiving criticism in Norfolk, Nebraska. (Snip) Neither the float nor the pickup identified a sponsor; a sign in the windshield said it was entry No. 29. Liz Guthrie of Pierce, Nebraska, took a photo of the float that has been widely circulated on social media and shared about 1,000 times on Facebook. From where she watched the parade, Guthrie said she could hear the crowd laughing and clapping as the float

Very mild compared to what President Bush went through.

There is no sewage plant named after Bush in SF. It was put on the ballot to be stupid and the voters turned it down by 70%. So, no the voters in SF did not vote to name a sewage plant after Bush.

I´ll be the first to say that Obama is probably the worst president of all time and that the idea of a library - a place of knowledge and intellectual exploration - bearing his name is akin to naming synagogue for Heinrich Himmler, but I´m not really comfortable with this float. Yes, he´s a worthless, pompous fool, and the kneejerk buffoons in the comments section calling the float "racist" are self-parodying, but I do feel the office itself deserves a modicum of public respect, even when it´s occupant deserves none.

McALLEN, Texas — For nearly two months, images of immigrant children who have crossed the border without a parent, only to wind up in concrete holding cells once in United States, have tugged at heartstrings. Yet most Americans now say U.S. law should be changed so they can be sent home quickly, without a deportation hearing. A new Associated Press-GfK poll finds two-thirds of Americans now say illegal immigration is a serious problem for the country, up 14 points since May and on par with concern about the issue in May 2010, when Arizona´s passage of a strict anti-immigration measure

It may take a while before investors get a clear picture on just how well—or poorly—the U.S. economy is performing. As Wall Street awaits Wednesday´s reading on gross domestic product in the second quarter, two things are becoming clear: Growth is a good deal short of where most economists had expected it to be by now, and even a particularly strong showing over the past three months probably came in large part because the period before it was so bad. President Barack Obama is considering using executive action to let millions of undocumented immigrants obtain work permits that would allow them stay in the U.S. legally, said a Democratic Senate aide. White House officials have told allies in Congress to expect an announcement of a large-scale action most likely in September, just before the midterm congressional elections, the aide said, asking for anonymity to discuss an unannounced plan. WASHINGTON — Mounting crises in Ukraine and the Middle East have driven a surge in President Obama´s telephone diplomacy, as the president has made more calls in July to world leaders than in all but one month of his presidency, according to White House records analyzed by USA TODAY. The calls, analyzed from almost 1,100 publicly disclosed records since 2009, show how Obama has relied heavily on European leaders, particularly British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, to help navigate trouble spots. Fresh evidence that Russia is directly shelling Ukrainian military targets is stoking concerns that Vladimir Putin feels increasingly comfortable running roughshod over his neighbors in defiance of the U.S. and Europe, putting pressure on the Obama administration to draw a red line that even Moscow can see. "Putin seems like he´s unchecked," Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, told Fox Business Network, calling the latest Russian involvement a "clear escalation."
