Wait just a minute here,..how is this possible? They have very strict "gun control" laws and a Democratic mayor in Chicago. This must be a mistake.

I certainly hope that no gang members or drug dealers were hurt or killed in these shocking shootings.

Chicago to ask for temporary halt of
single-room occupancy hotel conversions
Chicago Tribune, by Mary Ellen Podmolik    Original Article

Chicago is calling for a six-month moratorium on conversions of single-room occupancy hotels and residential hotels while it tries to figures out how to regulate the gentrification that has put thousands of very-low-income housing units at risk. An ordinance that would prohibit for six months the issuance of any city building permits for the demolition or conversion of the buildings is expected to be introduced at Wednesday’s City Council meeting by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and several aldermen. The moratorium would prevent almost all conversion projects, whether it was to a residential, non-residential, commercial or industrial use.

Police call it Terror Town, a 2-block by 4-block patch of South Shore where apparent gang conflicts have erupted into three mass shootings in a little over two years. The latest occurred Monday evening when a gunman walked up to a strip mall on East 79th Street and fired into a crowd, wounding six people, including two boys ages 14 and 16. All are expected to survive. Police have made no arrests but they are looking into whether the boys, the youngest victims of the shooting, may have been the targets. They are believed to be members of a Gangster

Former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner writes in his memoir, released Monday, that Illinois Republican Mark Kirk was “delusional” in warning the Chinese not to buy U.S. debt — but a source who was actually at that meeting Kirk had with Chinese officials told me that Geithner, who was not present, got it wrong. Kirk’s long-held view is that Geithner — along with a host of administration officials up to President Barack Obama and many members of Congress — is crazy not to be more concerned about runaway U.S. spending. So when it comes to who is delusional, Kirk’s not worried about

As temperatures plunged to 16 below zero in Chicago in early January and set record lows across the eastern U.S., electrical system managers implored the public to turn off stoves, dryers and even lights or risk blackouts. A fifth of all power-generating capacity in a grid serving 60 million people went suddenly offline, as coal piles froze, sensitive electrical equipment went haywire and utility operators had trouble finding enough natural gas to keep power plants running.(Snip)"Everywhere you turn, there are proposals and regulations to make prices go higher," said Daniel Kish, senior vice president at the Institute for Energy Research.

Glenn Beck has set up Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund to help illegals coming into the United States. He’s already raised $600,000. Beck stated that Obama would not have to step in and ask for $3.7 billion if private charities would pick up the slack and give to the swarm of illegals crossing the border. Is he kidding? Do we really need more churches and non-profits enabling this blatant attack on America? Rich people and liberal elite billionaires have no skin in the game when it comes to the consequences of illegal immigration so what do they care? On Friday’s broadcast of PBS’s “NewsHour” New York Times columnist David Brooks and Creators Syndicate columnist Mark Shields took on the House Speaker John Boehner’s lawsuit against the Obama administration, which alleges oversteps in executive authority by the Obama White House. Both acknowledged Boehner’s gripe with the Obama administration had merit, but were skeptical of the lawsuit’s chances. However, they both also took on the alternative offered by former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), which was to impeach President Barack Obama. Both dismissed that course of action as well, with Brooks calling it “cloud cuckoo land.” Partial transcript as follows: WOODRUFF: So the Highway Trust
